I have to disagree. I think that Sony intended the PS3 to be a success, but they just knew that it would take the PS3 longer to hit it's stride than it took the PS2 because of the higher price point.
The Xbox 360 was struggling to outsell the PS3 for the first half of this year at the $279 price point, and if the PS3 has been able to maintain the amount of sales that it has for this long while selling at $399, then obviously the PS3 is going to have tons of success once the price...
I think a lot of people are overlooking Wardevil. Digi-Guys said that there would be another update on Wardevil before the end of the year after showing the new trailer, but there hasn't been any new updates since then.... well, they have a couple of weeks left in 2008, and I hope they do give an update on the game because to me it looks like it has potential.
There's so many PS3 exclusives that could potentially come out in 2009 and it's hard to choose favorites, but my top 5 wo...
If the PS3 was $299, I think that the PS3 would be capable of selling just as much as the Xbox 360 monthly in the United States. I mean, earlier this year before the 360 price cut, the PS3 was outselling the Xbox 360 at $399 and $499 bucks with the cheapest 360 being just $30 more bucks than the Wii, so why can't a $299 PS3 outsell a Xbox 360 at $199? I see no reason why the PS3 couldn't.
If the PS3 got a price cut in Europe I think that it would be possible for the PS3 to be out...
For the price that the PS3 is still selling at and still maintaining the sales that it has is pretty remarkable, and it just goes to show that there's a lot of dedicated Playstation fans out there and there's a lot of people that want the PS3.
When Killzone 2 comes out, Sony has got to market that game like it's the last game they'll ever release. Honestly I think that a lot of hardcore Xbox 360 owners will be getting PS3's once Killzone 2 releases because I've heard plenty of Xb...
Yeah, the PS3 needs more casual games, but the majority of those casual games probably wont be coming until the PS3 hits $299 or lower than that.
I really don't think that the PS3 needs that much more casual games to catch up... I mean, just look at the 360. The only exclusive casual games that I can think of that has come out on the 360 this year is the new Viva Pinata and Banjo. The PS3 already has some exclusive casual games like Rachet, and LittleBigPlanet, but the PS3 just ...
If F.E.A.R 2 turns out to be another sub-par PS3 port, then Killzone 2 will be the only shooter I get early 2009 and it's as simple as that.
In 2009, 3rd party developers aren't getting any of my money unless the PS3 version of a game is what it should be. If I'll have to buy just PS3 exclusives in 2009, so be it.... heck, with the amount of PS3 exclusives coming in 2009, I'd be happy just with PS3 exclusives. Go ahead 3rd party developers and make sub-par PS3 games because you...
I'm not even going to read the rest of the article because Kotaku isn't getting any hits from me.
As far as the PS3 selling less this Black Friday in comparion to last Black Friday, to me last year (especially during the Holiday season) Sony had better advertising for the PS3. This year the advertising wasn't as great, but it was o.k.
The PS3 has been selling at the $399 price, for a year, so it was really only a matter of time before the people that were in the ...
I'm pretty sure that these new Sony walkman's will be pretty steep in price without a doubt. There is a 11 inch OLED TV display being sold right now for $2500, so a device with a 3 inch OLED display will definantly be pricey.
My 8GB Ipod Touch has about 2GB left and I've been wanting to upgrade to a 16GB Ipod Touch, but I think I'll wait to hear more about this Sony Walkman before I do so... but I'm predicting that these Sony Walkman's will probably start at $500 dollars or mor...
LOL, Omega is getting all excited and he's looking at the PS3 version of FFXIII and the PS3 exclusive FF Versus XIII. No one even knows what the 360 version of FFXIII will even look like. Looks like Omega will have to get a PS3.
Well, the PS3 was the same price as it was last year this time.
When Sony introduced the 40GB PS3 last November for $399, it created a lot of interest in the PS3 and it allowed a lot more people to access the PS3 and that's probably why it sold less this year. But since Nov. 2007 the PS3 has been selling at $399, and I think that the market for people willing to pay $399 for a PS3 is starting to slow down and is getting tapped out.
However, the PS3 has already pr...
Well, I for one hope that Sony doesn't come early and I doubt they will. There has always been about 5-6 years between each new Playstation console.... Microsoft just gave up on the first Xbox. There isn't a need for another next-gen Playstation console for many years down the road and the PS3's potential is just starting to be realized. I hope I don't see a Playstation 4 until at least 2012.
LOL, Capital G, your avatar looks like a Mugshot.
A video game rating really has nothing to do with GOTY, really it all just comes down to personal preference by the video game site.
As long as G4's GOTY pick wasn't GTA4, I respect their opinion.
Twisted Metal Black was my favorite. The only reason why I didn't buy Twisted Metal Head On for the PS2 is because it just didn't have the same "dark" and "gritty" look/feel that TM: Black had, and Head On just seemed a lot more cartoony to me.
And I did actually like Twisted Metal 3 even though so many people seemed to hate it... Twisted Metal 4 for me was "o.k." but it's probably my least favorite in the series, however, I loved using Calypso's spe...
This is making me wonder how much influence Adam Sessler has on X-Play. It seems like Fable 2 is JUST Adam Sesslers personal GOTY, but it's not actually X-Play's GOTY.
Either way, as long as I don't see a bunch of sites giving GOTY to GTA4, I'll respect their opinion.... but GTA4... Hell no.
@jaysquared,
If you Killzone 2 is generic, then so is Left 4 Dead and Halo 3.
You Xbox 360 fanboys have run out of stuff to say about Killzone 2, so you pull the "generic" card and that's so played out. A game like Killzone 2, the first FPS game with the Cover System of it's kind definantly isn't generic.
This is what you guys were saying about KZ2 without even seeing any gameplay footage:
"Bu..bu...but the A.I.", "B...
@LarVanian,
I have to agree also. During the PS2 era, I chose the Jak and Daxter franchise over Rachet and Clank... to this day I still haven't bought a Rachet game, but I do plan to do so sooner or later because it's a franchise I don't want to miss out on.
The Crash Bandicoot series is another one of my Naughty Dog favorites (the Crash Bandicoot games that were actually developed by Naughty Dog themselves). I liked Insomniac's Spyro franchise too, but Crash Bandico...
I've got my copy of Dark Knight on Blu-ray and it's waiting for me at home after I leave college for Christmas break tommorrow.
I never doubted Dark Knight's ability to push Blu-ray. With $199 Blu-ray players, it was bound to happen.
Yeah, and the Xbox 360 version is coming on 4 discs! LOL.
You guys are just too much, bubbles to all of you!
Uncharted 2 looks great no doubt. I just want to see the new trailer during the Video Game Award show now.
I almost can't believe that Naughty Dog had to confirm that the teaser trailer was actually running in real time for all the doubters out there. OF COURSE IT WAS REAL TIME. Anyone that's played the first Uncharted already knew that the teaser trailer was real time because I knew I did once I first saw it.
Hmmm. A shooter from Kojima would be pretty interesting, but I'm not too sure how a Japanese guy would do with a FPS game. I would have more confidence about a FPS game from Kojima if Ryan Peyton was still under his wing, but a FPS shooter from Kojima could potentially be a pretty groundbreaking game when you consider everything that Kojima has already brought to the industry.
Infinity Ward would be a good developer to work with for a FPS game, but if Kojima wants to dive more in...
