That's an inaccurate comparison, however.
When people spoke of the PS3's potential, they referred to the exclusive AAA franchises Sony has. They knew there would be a 'God of War,' and a 'Gran Turismo' released during the PS3's market cycle. What compelling exclusive has been mentioned for Kinect at launch that people know will push the hardware to its potential?
There isn't one. Kinect has been hyped like gaming's second c...
How do you know Sony 'ultimately didn't succeed?' Move has done quite well. Stop confusing your wishful thinking with facts.
There's plenty of room in the marketplace for both Kinect and Move. Why can't fanboys accept it and move on?
I'm glad Sony has focused on acquiring new studios and producing high quality exclusives. That's much better for me, as a gamer.
You don't speak for every gamer, hardcore or casual.
Trust me.
I agree with you. I have no idea why some people feel the need to call this gaming's 'Second Coming.' It's an alternate control scheme. That's it.
This excessive, unearned hype is unnecessary.
I think Kinect will do very well with niche titles. That could well be one of its greatest strengths.
You do realize that Sony is a company and doesn't have any emotions? It can't be pissed about anything.
A true classic. One of the best games ever made, imo, and it easily stands up with the top-tier titles released today.
Sadly, it seems that absolutes rule gaming discussions this generation.
Agreed. Software will be vital for the long-term success of Kinect (and Move). Without quality traditional game titles to back them up, they will both descend into obscurity fairly quickly.
I don't understand why you got disagrees for stating the obvious. Sony and MS are trying to tap a market Nintendo was the first to dominate. If not for the Wii, motion control gaming would still be a fringe interest for a small section of gamers. The Eyetoy's lack of market penetration proves this quite well.
Nintendo won the motion control 'war' before MS and Sony arrived on the battlefield.
I take it, you've only focused on a handful of the reviews, rather than looking at several sources?
People who judge others because of the video games they like to play are far more disgusting.
I suggest getting off that high horse of yours before you fall off. We're talking about video games here. Entertainment.
I've got the same problem. Too many consoles, too many interesting games coming out, and too little time to play them.
I bought "Vagrant Story" when it first released. I think it was 1999. I started it twice, but never finished the tutorials both times. Every year, I resolve to play it, but it never happens.
That is my greatest gaming shame.
If he does leave Squenix, I hope he forms his own studio. The industry needs men of his talent.
What a loss for the company if he does go. I was a huge fan of Squaresoft in the 90's, but other companies, like Atlus, have replaced it on my list of favourite devs/pubs.
Agreed.
I can't see either Move or Kinect getting people who own only a PS3 or 360 to buy the other console just to use the motion controllers. At least not until there's compelling exclusive software to justify the purchase.
Or a battle of fanboys, desperately fighting the good fight on the Internet for their accessory/gimmick of choice.
Good times.
Which actually makes Move the superior option for those of us who can't use our legs. ;-)
Edit: To the Person Who Disagreed: Sorry to burst your bubble, but since I can't stand or walk without crutches, and have to use a wheelchair some of the time, Kinect is pointless for me. Believe it or not, not every gamer is able-bodied, and disabilities can affect how some of us play games.
Some of us have legitimate reasons not to be on the Kinect hype train. Not everybody can use the device. I can't, for example. There's nothing wrong with pointing out a peripheral's shortcomings. Gods know you seem to have no problem constantly praising one company and bashing another.
Accept that Move has had some measure of success and move on with your life. The Playstation brand remains popular, despite the desperate belief of certain deluded fanboys.
