Because it took an existing concept and improved upon it, producing a high-quality, reliable gaming controller that is suitable for both the 'hardcore' and 'casual' audience.
The swastika, in Western society, carries with it connotations of Nazism. By the same token, Norse runes have similar negative associations now, thanks to their use in Nazi imagery (particularly 'Sigel' in the SS 'lightning flashes).
Players in the West aren't using swastikas for any religious reason. They're doing it precisely because swastikas are provocative in our society. Most people are hardly well-versed in Eastern religious imagery and symbology.
My purchase will cancel your non-purchase out.
Instead of throwing numbers out, let's look at the broader picture. The fact is, MS no longer has the same stranglehold in its traditionally dominant areas that it once did. It faces competition from Linux on the OS front. Firefox, Safari, Chrome, and other browsers have eaten away at its internet browser marketshare. Even in office productivity, it now faces competition, thanks to open-source alternatives like OpenOffice and Googledocs.
Whilst Windows 7 has sold 240 mill...
I still have more than 170GB on my 320 drive free.
GT5 will make a great post-birthday present for me. :D
Sony doesn't need exclusive DLC to 'win' the console 'war.' It has enough first-party studios to ensure a steady supply of high-quality exclusives. Microsoft doesn't have those same resources.
The Atari 2600 joystick, SNES and Dualshock controllers are the most comfortable I've used.
Do you have a link to prove 3rd-party devs are abandoning Move? I haven't read any credible source stating words to that effect.
Sony doesn't "make us pay" for anything. We choose to buy things. Just as MS doesn't "make" anyone pay for XBox Live, proprietary add-ons, etc.
It's that time of the month for the console warriors. They get to celebrate their side's victory over the evil rival manufacturers.
Pathetic, isn't it?
What are you talking about? The PS3 has had a fantastic year, and the imminent release of GT5 will only cement that success. Unlike MS, Sony hasn't bet the bank (so to speak) on Move's success, so they can afford a slower, steadier sellthrough rate on the peripheral.
You're not going to buy GT5. I still have no reason to purchase a 360. That balances it out. ;-)
Ignoring the Japanese sales makes no sense. Fact is, the sold numbers DO contribute to the worldwide total. The companies certainly take Japan into account, or MS would never have spent the money it did to try and improve the 360's install base in Japan.
Xbox fanboys may not like the fact that the 360's poor performance in Japan is a factor in the narrowing gap between the PS3 and 360 worldwide, but ignoring the truth won't make it go away.
I thought the point of GT was to drive the cars, not crash them. Isn't crashing the hallmark of an arcade racer?
Every GT5 video I see makes me more excited to play the game. I never thought I'd say that about a driving sim. :)
The games I enjoy most often score an average of 7-8 in reviews, so I'm with you there. I buy according to what interests me, and what I enjoy, rather than going by other peoples' reviews.
Intellivision fanboyism? LOL!
Never once did I hear or participate in 'console discussions' about the Atari 2600, the Colecovision, or the Intellivision. Back then, we played the games. Sales figures, attach rates, and userbase meant nothing to us. We were kids enjoying video games.
I first noticed fanboyism between the Nintendo and Sega crowds, which worsened in the PS2, GC, Xbox generation, before becoming the laughingstock it is today.
Agreed. Both companies are in very different situations when it comes to the launch of their motion peripherals. MS has invested a lot of money in Kinect's marketing. There's more pressure on MS for Kinect to be a resounding sales success.
I doubt we'll be hearing any concrete sales data until after Black Friday - or even after the holiday shopping season ends.
The people who write off the Move as a failure have the same mindset, sadly. Both devices are successes at this early juncture. Time will tell whether they can build on their initial momentum.
Why would sales numbers make anyone ashamed of owning anything?
Who gets ashamed about sales anyways?
So I guess all my PS3 game cases are full of illusions, not games, amirite?
Seriously, if you want to troll, update your put-downs a bit. The 'No Games and Crap Online' is so 2007.
I'm not going to settle for Forza. Sorry.
