Wondering where the time went

Regardless, it still counts as a sale for Move - unless you believe retailers are overstocking Move, which wouldn't make much sense at this time of year.

It's great that a disabled gamer has enjoyed Kinect. I'm a disabled gamer, and though I can't use Kinect, I understand how liberating it can be to experience the sheer fun of gaming.

Here's to many more years of gaming for him!

If we're going for realism here, why not have bodies flying out of windshields, etc.? Have ambulances arrive at the scene, with firefighters using the jaws of life to extract people from the mangled cars?

With gaming, there is such a thing as "too real." If I want to see car crashes, I'll watch them on the news.

It certainly doesn't beat Wii, considering Nintendo's domination this console cycle.

I don't get the emotional attachment to a product either. The platform is just the means to play the games, and the games are what matters to me.

Great to see them in a game again, though it only makes me want a new "LoK" title even more.

How can Japan's sales be irrelevant? It's a console market, and it adds to the global sales total. I can understand why some people might not like the sales numbers from Japan, but there's no need to pretend they have no impact. The numbers from Japan, when looked at in a broader view, cancel out some of the gap between 360 sales and PS3 sales in North America, for example.

Microsoft obviously considers Japan very relevant, considering the money it spent securin...

Fun is subjective, though. What you consider fun, I might consider boring, and vice-versa.

"GT 5" is great for what it is, a driving simulator. If that's not your thing, give arcade racers a try.

Or, in all likelihood, the sell-through data is substantially above Microsoft's.

In other words, sell-through data is speculation at this point.

Which means sold to retail. It's not as if there are millions of Moves lying around gathering dust in warehouses or on store shelves. Retail shelf space is at a premium, especially this time of year.

So, if Sony has shipped 4.1 million units, that indicates strong retail demand.

I enjoy the challenge of "GT 5," even though I'm not very good at the game. If it's not your type of game, that's fine, but some of us do find it to be a lot of fun.

I don't play FPS games, because they're not my thing. I wouldn't say they're not fun games, though, since millions of people enjoy them.

Generalizations are pointless.

If Major Nelson is correct, then we can all agree that both Move and Kinect are successful, given that both peripherals sold at least 2.5 million units each in their respective launch month.

Congratulations to Microsoft for posting a solid result. It will be interesting to see if the company hits its sales target by the end of 2010.

And the Microsoft Attack Force has been out in full force, too.

You're kidding, right?

360 exclusives have been trolled by PS3 fanboys, and I'm sure some of those PS3 fanboys will troll when "Gears 3" hits. It's that 'let's get them back for talking crap about our gamez!" mentality that keeps this crap going.

Why not drop the brand loyalty and just enjoy the games?

My first home console was the Atari 2600, and I started my PC gaming on the Vic 20. I had friends who had Colecovision and Intellivision, but nobody made a big deal about the consoles. We never paid attention to sellthrough rates, sales figures, review averages, or any of the other data that seem so vital to fanboys.

I'm a fan of certain types of games, and I own certain consoles, but I have no problem giving props to other companies' successes.

I...

Back when I first started gaming, being a gamer wasn't a way of identifying yourself that was socially accepted. Nerds and geeks played video games, not the 'mainstream' kids. Now that gaming has become more mainstream, and more people are gaming, it's fallen into the same kind of tribalism that is found in fans of other things - like sports, for instance.

Games have always been more important to me than the platforms they're played on. But I'm most ...

I hope Atlus releases this game in the West. This is a definite pre-order for me.

It's similar to those who complain about games being too easy this gen, and then, when a game like "GT5" comes out - one that actually expects you to hone your driving skills in order to succeed - people complain that it alienates the gaming masses by being a driving sim, rather than an arcade racer.

It's exceeded my expectations. I thought it would be too difficult for me, since I've never played the "GT" games before, but the license system has proven to be very addictive. Trying for the gold levels on each license is a lot of fun.

I may never get good enough to race anyone online, but having a game where you need to hone your skills, rather than just hit the gas pedal and go, is a great change of pace. I really enjoy the challenge.

A console that delivers a great multimedia experience isn't a good thing? Fanboy logic is hilarious.
