Or it could just be that those of us who were kids when consoles first began have stuck with it through the decades, enjoying it for the great hobby that it is.
I'm 38 and I've been gaming for approximately 30 years. It sounds about right to me.
I cannot wait to play this.
That point made sense years ago, when the PS3 was the cheapest Blu-Ray player on the market, but now?
Anyone buying a PS3 for Blu-Ray movies is wasting money. There are less expensive Blu-Ray players on the market.
It's an issue as far as attracting new purchasers is concerned, yes. I'm not going to buy a 360 to play multi-plat titles when I already own a PS3. But for people who already own a 360, I think lack of exclusives is less important.
There's nothing wrong with any company attempting to broaden its consumer appeal. The 'casual' gaming audience is much larger than the 'hardcore' gamer userbase, and it's very profitable. Why wouldn't companies want a piece of that market?
I do my casual gaming on PC, but I can see why Kinect would be a big draw to families that either already own a 360 or are looking for a new console. People want value for their money, so if they see that a vid...
There hasn't been a lot of RPGs, Western or Japanese, released this generation. And in the case of JRPGs such as Star Ocean 4 and Eternal Sonata, the PS3 versions were released here much, much later than their 360 counterparts.
Considering the extremely poor sales of exclusive JRPGs on the 360, one would think that Namdai would press for multi-platform release, especially considering how FF XIII sold much more on the PS3 in spite of MS' exclusive marketing deals for...
Ah, well. Too bad 360 owners didn't support the game more and actually purchase it in sufficient numbers. Sometimes business decisions end up backfiring on a company, and this is definitely one of those cases. It would have seen higher sales in the West had it been multi-plat.
@xabmoi: Let me explain it for you. There are property rights involved, but it's not what you think.
When you buy a console, you buy that physical console (the plastic, the wires, the circuit boards, etc.) You can paint it a different color. You can put stickers of unicorns and glitter on it. You can take the innards out and stick them in an entirely different case if you wanted. You can replace the HDD with another. And so on. YOU own the physical components of the mac...
I'm really looking forward to this.
I don't care which console is more powerful. I'd prefer both MS and Sony create reliable consoles that aren't bleeding edge but offer great multimedia experiences and spend more on games for those consoles instead.
Bleeding edge is expensive, as this gen shows. The PS3 was incredible value for money when it released, considering the price of standalone Blu-Ray players at the time, but its price caused "sticker shock" for many.
MS nee...
It's not necessary, since the game can be played on PS3 without it, but since the 360 has the option of using Kinect, why not give Kinect owners the option?
Since my broadband connection is capped, I watch the on demand movies available free with my Movie Network package. For movies I want to keep, I purchase them in Blu.
Netflix is good for finding lesser-known flicks to pass the time with. Other than that, I don't use it much. The Netflix selection in Canada is pretty sub-standard.
I'm not resistant to change. My issue is that I can't use Kinect. I can't stand up without crutches, and I also use a wheelchair, so there's no way I can kick to make a character kick, etc.
As a gaming controller, Kinect is useless to me. I'm a REAL gamer, but I can't ignore my physical limitations either.
I'm surprised by the increase. It's great to see both 360 and PS3 with strong sales last month.
There was no good 'reason' for the cyberattacks on Sony. Businesses have a right to protect their proprietary information, whether people like it or not. If people can't understand the legal principles at work, then perhaps they should put down the game controllers for a while and enrol in some law courses.
North America is a continent. South America is a continent. 'America' refers to the United States of America.
Same here. I never use the video out on my PSP or any other portable device I have.
I don't agree that exclusives are a small piece of the pie. They define a console and are a major selling point for people to purchase a system. I'm not going to buy a 360, PS3, or Wii to play multi-plat titles I can play on a console I already own.
Lack of exclusives that interest me is the reason I don't own a 360. That's why I watch all the Big 3's pressers from each E3. I like to see what they have coming down the pipe to gauge whether or not I want ...
@Kwietstorm & Hicken: The simple fact is that gaming is no longer the sole domain of teenagers. It has become an accepted leisure activity in our culture, one that is open to everyone, regardless of age and gender.
I agree that the majority of what you might consider 'hardcore' gamers are younger than that average, but companies care about total revenue. Like it or not, the middle-aged women who play FarmVille vastly outnumber the 'Call of Duty' crowd. T...
