Wondering where the time went

No need to. I've really enjoyed playing 'Skyrim' on PS3 and have never regretted the purchase.

Exclusives certainly continue to matter, regardless what certain fanboys may think. Exclusives drive console purchases. After all, why would you buy a certain console if its games could be played on another console?

I don't own an XBox, because its stable of exclusive titles aren't my cup of tea. They either don't interest me, or they don't offer different experiences from exclusives I can purchase for my other consoles. So in the current climate of economic ...

I keep my originals for my game collection, but I really enjoy the HD remakes. Besides the upgrades of titles I already own, they also give me the chance to play games I missed when they first released.

In the end, it all comes down to the individual gamer's preference. Live would be a waste of money for me, since I don't play online multiplayer games on consoles, and I prefer my PC/TV for multimedia viewing. SEN gives me what I need from an online service, making it the best choice for me.

Every time I read comments complaining about how expensive games are now, I remember having to pay more than $100 CDN for new released SNES cartridges.

I don't see the problem with used game sales. It's no different than used book sales. If I go to a used book store and purchase a pre-owned book, neither the publisher nor the author receive royalties from my purchase. But I may discover a new author I wouldn't have read before, because I was wary of paying the jac...

It's apples and oranges. Do the movie studios comment on each month's ticket sales and attendance figures?

I've yet to see film studio fanboys cheerleading for the box office receipts of a particular studio.

The 'omg! Paramount completely pwned Lionsgate last month. Lionsgate = FAILZ!!! lololol' posts
or '<Movie Title> bombed in its second week of wide release. WB to exit movie business?' types of articles may exist o...

All these 'doom and gloom' articles make me want to buy a Vita more than I did before.

People have different preferences. If someone doesn't want to play a certain game because aspects of the main character bother them, that's their right. I didn't play 'Bayonetta' because the protag wasn't the type of character I like playing. Nothing against the game. From the reviews I've read of it, the combat and gameplay were wild and fun. I just didn't want to play the game with that particular character. So I didn't. Not a big deal.

I...

@Kran: Facebook games are 'freemium' games that follow the free-to-play model. The basic game is free, but players can purchase optional items, upgrades, etc.

LOL! I don't care about the sexiness of video game females. Now, sexy male characters are a different matter.

You ogle the female characters. I'll appreciate the beefcake eyecandy. There you go. Plenty of pixel objectification for everyone.

I play games on consoles, Facebook, and my PC. I enjoy both traditional "hardcore" games as well as titles aimed at a casual audience. And I've been gaming for 30 years. Does that make me an exception to the rule? Maybe.

But when it comes down to it, gaming companies want to make money. Regardless of the types of games women play, the fact that millions of women enjoy gaming has an impact on the industry. Companies like EA and Ubisoft have launched Facebook tit...

FFX remains one of my favourite 'numbered' 'Final Fantasy' games. Even after all these years, the plot and characterizations represent a high point in the series for me. Remake or remaster, it doesn't matter. I'll be buying this Day 1.

Though none of these exclusives are compelling enough for me to buy a 360, I'm amazed at the intensity with which some people attack or defend MS (or Sony, or Nintendo for that matter). The company's business model is obviously successful for them and that's all that matters to the company in the end. Profit pleases the shareholders.

Multiplatform games are the 'bread and butter' of gaming these days. They kept the PS3 chugging along when it first launched...

I've never considered the games I enjoy in terms of 'male' or 'female.' I play what I like, and that tends to be action/adventure, rpg, and platformer - even "casual games."

If publishers want to tap into the female gamer market, just produce quality titles with engaging gameplay. There's no specific genre, etc., for female gamers. We'll buy the games that interest us, just as male gamers do.

In the end, we female gamers...

The first video game I played was 'Pong,' and I've been playing games ever since. My gaming habits have changed over the decades. I rarely have the free time to spend a weekend gaming, for example.

The evolution of games has been an amazing thing to witness, from the "you're the white block, your enemies are the red blocks" days to today's fully-detailed character and environment models. But beyond the technical improvements, the fact that gaming...

Since people have a choice to pay for Live or not, I don't understand the complaints. If you think it's a waste of money, don't buy it. If you enjoy the service, and find it useful, then subscribe to it.

That's what I like most about this generation of gaming. We can now tailor or gaming experiences to suit our own preferences. Since I don't enjoying multiplayer console games, Live would be a waste of money for me and PSN is sufficient.

You've expressed my thoughts on it perfectly. I'm glad that 'Xenoblade' is releasing here in NA, but I'm always surprised at how many gamers don't take the business side of the gaming industry into account.

Publishers have to make the best decisions for their bottom line, or else they won't remain in business. That's why I've always felt that the best thing gamers can do is vote with their wallets and support the devs/publishers.

MS has done a fantastic job this gen establishing itself as a gaming brand. Sony's comeback has been equally impressive, considering the negative cloud the PS3 was released under. Nintendo has soared back to being a dominant player in the home console industry after the Gamecube debacle.

This gen has been a fantastic one for console gamers, with all 3 companies providing different gaming experiences. Congrats to all of them for making gaming a much more mainstream form of...

As flawed as the game may be, I'm enjoying it more than 'Oblivion.' It's one of those rare games that I can't wait to get back to, once I've taken a break from it.

I haven't experienced any glitches with the game yet. *Knocks wood*

Fiction will always have an audience. Storytelling has been a part of human experience for tens of thousands, if not hundreds of thousands, of years. What does change over time is the type of fiction people want to read.

For example, the fiction market today tends to emphasize shorter-length pieces instead of 100,000-word tomes. The growth of ebooks has opened up a tremendous market for self-published authors who push the boundaries of fiction in ways that the traditional pub...
