I respect the writer's opinion, but I can't agree with his choices. Kain from the 'Legacy of Kain' and 'Soul Reaver' series should have a place on any list of top vampires in gaming.
Finally! I'll be using this app a lot.
@Posted: Yeah, I know what you mean. I'm one of those women who play on consoles and enjoy casual games, so I'm in both groups I guess. :)
I think the numbers are perfectly reasonable. While it's certainly true, I'd agree, that males dominate so-called "core" gaming, the simple fact is that the gaming industry has grown beyond the home console/dedicated pc gamer markets. Casual gaming serves a much wider customer base than core gaming - and adult women certainly make up the clear majority of the casual market.
Or, to put it another way, there are millions more people playing 'FarmVille'...
Great to see a strong uptick in Vita sales. I haven't bought 'Gravity Rush,' but it's nice to see it doing well.
This gen has been fascinating. Every company has had its ups and downs. Nintendo regained a dominant position in the gaming marketplace. Microsoft established itself as a viable console gaming company and created a great online service. Sony overcame a horrendous launch and has provided its customers with strong exclusive content.
Each company offers unique experiences, so it's never been easier for gamers to find a console that best suits their gaming preferences.
That's my intention, too. I won't be purchasing a Wii U until the library makes it worthwhile.
Fantastic! I've been looking forward to a YouTube app since I bought my Vita. I'll be getting a lot of use out of this.
I come from the first generation that grew up playing video games, and since my generation hasn't changed the general perception of hardcore gamers, I don't see that happening.
Same here. *Gaming Geezer High Five*
Nintendo's conference this year wasn't its worst ever. To me, that dubious distinction belongs to the infamous "Wii Music" year.
That's not to say its conference this year was good. I was really disappointed by the lack of concrete details for Wii U, such as the price. While I enjoyed the "Lego Undercover City" trailer, it wasn't enough to make me want a Wii U at launch.
That's the same feeling I have. I won't be buying a Wii U until there are more exclusive titles to justify the purchase. The disposable income just isn't there.
'Lego City' was the highlight of Nintendo's presentation for me. It looks like a blast to play, and I love the city cop atmosphere. I chuckled a few times throughout the trailer.
Nothing I saw today would prompt me to buy a Wii U at launch. It was a pretty mediocre conference all around.
The conference wasn't spectacular by any stretch of the imagination, but it did have some great highlight moments. I wish they'd spent less time on Wonderbook and more on the Vita. 'Beyond,' 'Last of Us,' and 'GoW:A' looked very good.
Giving PS+ vouchers to the audience struck me as lame, just as MS' stunt of giving the audience free 360s a few years back did.
I did notice a much stronger audience reaction for the Sony conf...
Different strokes for different folks, as the saying goes. I'm sure it will find an audience.
The game looks adorable.
True, and there weren't any painful moments on the "Wii Music" level. It was, as the article title says, meh.
They didn't bring something for everyone, however. They had no original IPs that would entice me to buy a 360. I watch the MS conference every year, as a consumer who is looking for enough new exclusive content that would justify my purchase - since I'm not interested in "Halo," "Gears," or "Forza."
From my perspective, the conference showed nothing significant. I already have multimedia services through my laptop and PS3. I don't ha...
Having been physically disabled since birth, I know firsthand the joy that gaming can bring to the disabled. There aren't words to describe the sense of 'freedom' I get when I'm playing a game like 'Assassin's Creed,' and guiding Altair to do physical feats I can't, and will never, be able to do - even something as simple as walking unaided down a corridor. Sometimes it's simply a great to escape from the realities of life for a while.
