I can't wait for the official reveal of the neXtBox, when we'll be able to discuss actual features and specs instead of rumours. I'm curious to see what MS will bring to the table.
New console gens are always exciting. ;D
That's my take on it, too. If the microtransactions are just for skins, etc., then I have no problems with them. If they're for items that provide an advantage over other players, though, I have an issue.
Backwards compatibility is a nice feature, but it's not a deciding factor. This console generation proved that consumers, on the whole, weren't willing to pay extra for that capability, given how poorly the PS3 sold at launch.
I have a launch model PS3 and I've only put 2 of my PS2 games in it since then, both of which I never finished on PS3. There are so many PS2s around that it's not difficult to find a PS2 to play your PS2 games on.
If BC was important, the PS3 would have sold much better at launch.
BC mattered more to me in earlier gens. The ability to play PS1 games on the PS2 at launch was a defining factor in my decision to purchase the PS2 at launch. It was a feature that was one of the reasons I bought a PS3 at launch.
To be honest, though, I only played 2 PS2 games on my PS3 since launch, and I didn't finish either of them on that console. I've purchased digital versions of PS1 titles, and I've gotten some of the PS2 HD re-releases, and those are what ...
There should be some kind of combined buff status if players have him and Captain America in their active squads, lol.
It would be great to see a new entry in the LoK series and visit Nosgoth again.
While I agree that a female protagonist doesn't fit with the tone of the GTA series, there have been several powerful females in organized crime. Take Griselda Blanco, the 'Cocaine Godmother,' for example.' She was a particularly vicious drug lord during Miami's 'Cocaine Cowboys' period.
A female lead in a crime game could certainly work; it would depend on the talent of the game's writer.
For me, it's always been less about the hardware and more about what developers do with a console's resources. I doubt the average consumer is going to purchase a console based on its hardware specs. Brand recognition and customer loyalty are stronger motivating factors. As long as there are Mario/Zelda/Pokemon games, along with third-party exclusives like 'Bayonetta 2' available for it, the Wii U should sell well.
Thank you for your informative post. The first name that popped into my mind was Griselda Blanco, the "Cocaine Godmother," one of the most powerful - and violent - figures during the era of Miami's 'Cocaine Cowboys.'
While I can see some game series, like Mario, being remembered for decades to come, I can't see any situation where games achieve the same centuries-long 'word fame' of "Beowulf." "Beowulf" is a highly significant work in the history of the English language and literature as one of the few extant examples of Anglo-Saxon epic heroic poetry as well as one of the few examples we have of the Old English language.
I think the gaming medium is too li...
Until the name is officially revealed, I'll keep calling it the Nextbox, Hopefully, it will offer different SKUS, say one with Kinect built-in and one without. If Kinect is standard on all models, I'll have to give it a pass.
I'm hoping the next console gen will have less of the tit-for-tat console wars crap, which made this gen so tiresome.
People aren't entitled to entertainment media. It's not a necessity of life. If you can't afford to buy your games, you need to learn to budget, be patient, or find another hobby.
I think HD remakes are a great idea. People who didn't get to play these games on first release have the chance to play them now, remastered. I also like the convenience of not having to dig out my original games, and their consoles, when I want to play those older games again.
It's not that difficult to see the appeal. I like having the opportunity to play games I missed the first time around. Since I can't lug my PS1 and TV around with me, it's great to have those games available on-the-go.
I'm sure there are also younger gamers out there who did not have the chance to play these PS1 titles when they originally released and can now enjoy them.
'Dragoon' is definitely a case where the passage of time has made it more popular. When it was released, it was pretty much panned for being derivative and mediocre. I remember enjoying the combat, though I haven't played it since 2000. I'd buy it Day 1 if it was remastered for HD, or a sequel was released.
I have small hands, and I'm left handed. I find the PS3 controller extremely comfortable. The Dual Shock design has withstood the test of time for me, as I started using it way back in the 1990's with the original Playstation.
That's the thing about controllers. I don't care how much money a company spends on their design, etc. I want something that's comfortable in my hands and the Dual Shock designs are my preference.
I don't identify myself as a female gamer. I'm a gamer who just happens to be female. This 'girl gamer' label makes no sense to me. There's no reason to call attention to your gender if you enjoy the hobby.
For me, video games will never surpass the written word as a storytelling medium. The nature of a game prevents you from focusing your mind on the story for long stretches of time. Yes, you may get cut scenes here and there, but these narrative set pieces are separated from one another by action sequences. You have to complete missions, grind to level up, or perform other actions with the sprites to reach the next stage of the story.
Because of that separation, you cannot ful...
The visual upgrade looks great. I can see me buying this for both Vita and PS3. X is one of my top 3 FF installments.
