Lol, is this satire?
First part should definitely end with Aerith's death
If it's done like Trails of Cold Steel it could work. The only problem is that Trails of Cold Steel was written with multiple games in mind, while VII was intended as a single game, so it'll probably be necessary for SE to make some pretty big changes in order to make it work. But, it's not like they aren't making big changes - it looks completely different to the original. So who knows? They might just pull it off. On top of that then, it would mean that we wouldn't have ...
Wait, where in that link does it say the game is still going to be episodic?
Just let me have both for crying out loud!
Well Steam SHOULD do this. I just wonder how it would affect them though. How much do they need that extra money? Is there some other way they could generate it once they reduced their cut? I reckon if they released HL3 and it had some sort of good online multiplayer component they'd make a ton. Artifact has huge potential too (but it's sort of floundering at the moment).
Now that XV and KH III are done and dusted, it's time to show the VII Remake and maybe 1 or 2 other new things (XVI, X-3). If not this year, then definitely next year. If not next year, something's wrong.
You seriously think that this wasn't supposed to be a Trump reference? Maybe pre-2015, but these days, pretty much any "Make ____ great again" is obviously a Trump reference.
But Steam has been constantly changing and being improved since it came out. Hence the reason people are complaining about EGS lacking loads of stuff that Steam has. Steam didn't start with that stuff, it was added over time. I mean, Valve has a very busy team dedicated to Steam.
Steam is already great for consumers - it never needed competition for that. It's publishers that don't like it because of the cut it takes from sales.
Enough already
Wait, doesn't selling the games for less defeat the point of Epic taking a smaller cut from the sales? Also, how can Epic afford to sell the games for less if they're not generating as much money from sales?
Another service stealing games and making them exclusives. Where Cards Fall was removed from Steam, Oceanhorn 2 is now an exclusive, The Pathless, which is the next game from the folks who made Abzu, also now an exclusive, and the long-awaited sequel to Beneath a Steel Sky, also exclusive. All games I was looking forward to. Trust Apple to be even worse than the Epic Games Store too - this is a subscription service, not a digital store.
Dammit Valve, just reduce the cut you...
If internet speeds were amazing worldwide, the Stadia could replace PC gaming too (i.e. building really expensive PCs). Google would have the PCs, and the rest of us would just need average computers with access to really good internet. I think that's pretty darn cool, and I think this idea has a ton of potential, it just really hinges on having amazing internet, and I can imagine internet providers selling really expensive "gaming packages", i.e. super fast broadband that is ne...
Bad game sales are a drop in the ocean I'd imagine. Not much is lost by refusing to sell them. Not to mention when they flood digital stores they heavily impact discoverability for legitimate developers. I mean just look at the Google Play Store. Most people don't buy crappy games, and the thing is, they won't buy good games either if they don't even know they exist because of how ubiquitous the garbage stuff is. On top of that, a lot of the crap that floods these stores is fa...
Fortnite money, which will definitely dry up in the next year or two.
Meh, I'm just not going to buy games from the Epic Store. Might end up saving me a lot of money.
And the thing is, Fortnite won't be around forever. It's easy to see it dying just because of how shallow it is, and once it does, bye bye Epic Games store. In other words, I don't even think it would be wise to buy games on it, because who knows how long it's going to last.
There's an important distinction that people don't seem to be recognizing here. Think about games in which the actual objective is to murder innocent people - like, a school shooter simulator. Valve wouldn't allow a game like that on their platform. The whole "you won't allow rape but you'll allow violence and gore?" argument doesn't work. A game that has rape in it will sell just fine, just so long as 1. you don't play as the rapist, and 2. the rape isn&...
Games that glorify and eroticize rape not getting sold is not one of the reasons that monopolies are bad, nor is it something that only happens when monopolies exist. Most companies don't want to be associated with this vile garbage.
For a second I thought the thumbnail was the cover. THAT would have been bad (but also really funny).
Well, the VII Remake basically carried the whole thing. Nice that SaGa Scarlet Grace is finally coming west and to Steam, and nice that Oninaki got a release date, but other than these things, it was kind of meh. Still better than pretty much every other conference though, which is saying something.
I think I've pretty much given up on E3 as a place where really huge, surprising announcements are made though, at least in Square Enix's case. No Final Fantasy XVI, no ...
