Looks really generic, and I was expecting the graphics to be much better.
I'm wondering how challenging this game is going to be given the level of interactivity and control there is. Seems like it could either be extremely easy or extremely hard. Like, do you have to manually reload your gun?
To be brutally honest though, I found this trailer to be kind of underwhelming. It doesn't feel like the next major Half-Life game, it feels more like a prologue to something bigger. Of course, if that is what it is supposed to be, then I'd say ...
@alvira81: But this is likely going to be THE virtual reality game. It's almost certainly going to be very, very impressive, and above all, it's going to be a cutting edge modern video game. I don't think that it's going to be accessible technologically speaking. It's a new, fully-fledged Half-Life game - it can't look like a game from 2016-17. It'll be a VR game with, in all likelihood, amazing graphics. In other words, most people will have to both upgrade their ...
It would be outrageous if this game was a sequel and was called Half Life 3, but neither of those things are the case, so I'm not that phased. Having said that though, there's no way I'm buying VR just for this, no matter how good it looks, especially given how expensive VR still is.
"Death Stranding is less concerned with explaining its world than it is with throwing dozens of names, acronyms and ideas at you. In true Kojima fashion, the story isn’t shown but told and told in the most hackneyed and terrible way possible... Conversations between characters are barely more than long-winded explanations of the game and its world which renders the dialogue simply atrocious."
This is exactly what I was worried about. Once the trailers started...
What?? That's ridiculous.
The symphonic version of the VIII score is one of my favourite videogame soundtracks.
Sounds like DLC to me. In a way, I'm surprised they didn't do this sooner. DLC Pokémon is kind of a no-brainer, but then again, a lot of people won't like it.
It looks amazing, but they should have kept summons in the later parts. Sephiroth too, for tension building reasons. Still, it looks like it's going to be amazing anyway, so perhaps we should take it on its own merits.
English versions of these remakes actually exist. They were released for iOS and Android all the way back in like late 2014. I don't know how they still haven't been released on any other platforms. The 3DS got the Japanese versions, and now the Switch will too. How hard could it be to release the English versions on the 3DS or the Switch? Surely most of the work is already done. Hopefully soon. Hopefully the Switch gets the English versions, unlike the 3DS.
It's a difficult situation, but part of the problem is the fact that justice systems around the world don't take sexual violence seriously. This is one of the main reasons victims are relying on social media. Obviously there are risks inherent in such an approach, but if we want it to stop, we need to change our attitude to sexual violence. A lot of people don't seem to understand how traumatic it is, and because of that, they don't understand how serious it is. There are thos...
They need to lose the cartoony sound effect words - they don't fit well at all. Also, I don't really see why the damage numbers are necessary.
Grinding sucks. It's tedious padding that enables developers to claim that their game has 60+ hours of playtime. A little bit is okay - enough that it doesn't ever become tiresome - but some games take it way too far. Sure, if you work for something it feels like more of an accomplishment, but why does the work need to be tedious and monotonous and soul-crushing? Why can't the work be rewarding in itself? I think this is true of most grindy games though, it's just that said wo...
Based on the most recent trailer, I don't think the game is going to be as weird as we initially thought. I mean it'll be weird in a sci-fi kind of way, but not in a surreal, trippy, dreamy way. Kojima's promotion for his games is always a lot weirder than the games themselves.
Yeah, New Labour. Blairite type politicians. Neoliberals. Eff them too. The Tories are worse though - socially conservative on top of being venal cowards out of touch with the realities lived by ordinary, working people.
@Imalwaysright: You know Iceland jailed pretty much all their corrupt bankers right? They're doing just fine. Bailing out the bankers is the reason the national debt everywhere is staggeringly high, and why we have so much austerity, which is tearing ou...
Tory. In the pocket of big business. Anything that "hurts" business (like regulations to prevent predatory practices) and the Tories start talking this kind of crap.
Maybe this man shouldn't be the Russian deputy defense minister...
Also, why the heck would the CIA want the public to protest and oppose the authority of the government? That's like the opposite of what they want. Unless you want to do some mental gymnastics and suggest something like they want to encourage people to protest (within certain limits) so that they feel like they are free and have power, but isn't enlisting one video game developer to make a video ...
But how are the next parts going to compare to the first if they aren't as dense? They might feel like totally different games, and they might pale in comparison to the first one. I would expect them to pad out the world around the various places of interest - maybe open-world with large zones or something. Like, it wouldn't do if the subsequent parts were as dense as the original games - it would make the total experience very strange and unbalanced. It would probably feel a bit like...
1st game should have been Aerith, 2nd game should have been post-Aerith. I'm excited by the idea of (what I am presuming will be) a dense, handmade, open-world Midgar, but Midgar is like under a half of the first disc, and they're stretching it across 2 whole blurays. If they want the rest of the game to be as dense, you're talking 4 or 5 parts, and like what, 8 to 10 discs?
Also, have they really not planned the second part? When is it going to release then? If...
Gearbox are publishing this game, not developing it.
