yep. amazon boo boo. that didn't take long to correct.

$399 and $499? is Sony about to announce a pre-launch price reduction of the PS3, or is Amazon just mistaking?

the analyst by Wedbush Morgan was for the launch period: and its predicted greater Wii sales were more so forced by Sony's lack of available PS3's. this study by Interpret is more or less predictions of the outcome of everything, in about 6 or so years. both firms have valid points; though a prediction is still a prediction. it's an admission that you MAY be wrong, thats why it's not considered factual. guess we should all just sit back, wait and see; while in the meantime we should enjoy...

true, comparisons should be made when both pieces of hardware are out. while i didn't read cnet's full HD-DVD review, i'd just assumed that they had hardware near-complete enough to make a fairly assessed review.

in any regard, i too am glad for the exchange with you. just as long as a debate (rather in agreement or disagreement) is kept constructive and respectful, i'm all for it. peace, and good luck on all your gaming endeavors

well, i guess i can see where you're coming from. however, the way i look at it, offering the consumer an alternative to the product you're reviewing isn't biased, neither is it biased if you personally find something advantageous in the alternative as opposed to what you are reviewing (99% of gaming sites are currently doing this right now, when measuring what you get with the PS3 vs. its price compared to what you can have with the Wii60 for the same price). thats what cnosumer reviewing ...

this statement:

"Sony's betting that hard-core gamers--and high-def fanatics looking for a sub-$1,000 Blu-ray player--will be happy to run up their credit card debt come November 17. But for parents searching for a holiday gift, the cheaper Xbox 360 and Wii will be tough competition, indeed"

is no more or less biased than this statement:

1. did you look into the future to see that you'd be making a $1200 profit, or are you just guessing?

2. what will happen if you can't sell either?

3. how did you reserve 2(TWO) PS3's, when Gamestop/EB only allowed for one reservation per person?

according to NPD Microsoft sold approx 400,000 units during the month of Nov. of 2005 in North America (including Canada). as of the end of the calender year of 2005, Microsoft said that they'd sold approx. 900,000 in North America, and 500,000 in Europe. not sure what the figures are in Japan, but i can't imagine that the 360 has sold more than 200,000 units, even as of right now.

dude, chill out. this is one site's review about a piece of hardware thats inconsequential to gaming on the 360. so what that they didn't too much like it? its a movie player.

they expect to within the next week, last i heard.

though he did post an article thats more than 6 months old, don't jump down proudtobetom's throat too much. most anti-PS3 fans don't realize that it will take a while to truly harness the power of the PS3, thats why they're always comparing PS3 launch games to 2nd gem 360 games. "Gears of War pwns RFOM LMAO!!!" and stuff like that, which bears little objective credibility.

while Jin is ALWAYS too harsh with who he believes to be anti-Sony conspirators, i can say that i see where you both are coming from. systems typcially don't launch with the greatest of games: to expect anything more than what the PS3 is offering is quite unrealistic. i do see your point though, of not bothering in the here-and-now, as the 360 will soon be offering some of its more amazing 2nd-gen games. though i've decided to wait until early 07 to get a system, the exclusive games i myse...

when all the dust has settled, the market share will look something like this:

PS3: 45%
360: 35%
Wii: 20%

i see the Wii selling huge at first, but like most gimicks (and lets be honest, no matter how much Nintendo has charmed us all, the Wiimote is a gimick...sure, i'd like to buy one, but it is what it is) it will probably start to fizzle a year or two into its life cycle. PS3 will sell at the most static-like pace, with occasional boosts as its price is ...

i guess it would suck. fortuantely for me, my only interest in the Wii is for a few N64 and Gamecube games, and a bunch of NES and SNES games...not for the Wiimote.

agreed. sometimes, it seems that Sony has all the right people in the wrong places.

well, considering how much i'm anxious to get my hands on a PS3, i think i'd be pretty upset to have to ship it off and wait for repairs, even if it is covered under my warranty. but i guess you have a point.

7080d ago 0 agree0 disagreeView comment

yeah. i just called one of my local gamestops, and they said they're only getting 14 units. i'm THINKING about getting one at launch, but after the overheating 360 debacle last year, something's telling me to wait until the second or third shipments before plunking down the $600 plus extended-warranty money

the only negative thing they had to say about the PS3's GPU was its 256 MB of dedicated RAM; a statement they amended by saying, "The games will still look fantastic, but memory useage will be a constant concern. On the other hand, the RSX chip can access the PS3's auxiliary 256 MB of system RAM, so it once again comes down to programming chops."

why are you glad that your gaming console won Best Gaming catagory? when did Gamepro become the deciding-facto messiah of what gaming should be? what, are they only right about game line-up, and wrong about everything else they scored in the PS3's favor?
