i'm so used to comparing the core models to each other, and the premium models to each other, that i forgot that the core PS3 offers the exact same thing plus HDMI for $100 cheaper than the premium 360 plus HD-DVD add-on. unless you count wireless controllers, in which case it'll be a $50 advantage for PS3 over 360/HD-DVD combo.
i'm not comparing apples to oranges. as far as i'm concerned both formats are sour grapes. my comparison comes from the fact that HD-DVD is useless for gaming, which is all i care about. my 360 games will NOT be on HD-DVD's; all of my PS3 games will be on Blu-ray DVD's. who cares about next-gen movies? i have hundreds of DVD's that work just fine. if you prefer HD-DVD over Blu-ray then thats your prerogative; however, if you do then you STILL cannot complain about the price of the PS3, ...

well, i don't know this Leo Laporte (don't watch G4 that much). he may or may not be a technical wizard i'm not sure. however, the reasons he gives for the PS3's failure is opinionative and non-factual. what he personally may not consider mind-blowing may in fact blow other's minds.

while some of his arguments (namely about Blu-ray) are sound, his statement about more games just dosn't make any sense from a gamer's standpoint. gaming is all about the need for "more games". if one of your concerns about the PS3 is that it offers "more games", then no offense, but maybe gaming isn't for you anymore.
the dude is definately weird. however, there's no denying that GoW (not Gears of War) is in the top 3 action titles in the past six years (right along with Ninja Gaiden and Res Evil 4); and quite possible amongst the top three action titles EVER. with how good God of War is, i think Sony executives and Playstation fans (and maybe even some XBox faithfuls) would probably hang him if he didn't continue the series on PS3.
