Maybe because your character was an a$$face?
Yeah, Hardcore Diablo had (and still has) quite the following. They even introduced new rules on top of the "hardcore" game mode to make it even harder, called Iron Man. IIRC, you weren't allowed to trade in this "mode", nor talk to anyone in town except when it was required to advance in a quest.
Also, Diablo Hardcore PVP was pretty intense. Two enter, one leaves.
Raziel didn't die, he just merged with the soul reaver in the sword.
Forget it. Those pictures take hours to render, no way you can get 30fps or more in such a quality.
Google is making an OS is not really true. They take the vanilla linux kernel sources, apply some own patches, and slap an own windows manager on it. The "OS" stuff is mostly linux code. It wouldn't make sense to rewrite it, anyway. Better minds than Google has on their payroll has built that code over a period of more than a decade.
@Kushan: Well, you are generally right, but once a successful project is open sourced, it is impossible to close it again, because the code is out there and people can use it as an example to build their own codebase.
It is possible to change from e.g. GPL to a proprietary license, but let's be realistic here. Four months later, a new software will be born with a new codebase, but almost identical features. It's impossible to prevent that.
Hehe, yeah, Turok2 had some cool guns. The freeze gun was also pretty nifty. Oh, and the monkey mode was awesome. This was the first (and last) shooter I ever played on a gamepad, btw. It sucked compared to keyboard + mouse, but yeah, everyone was using a pad, so it was still fun.
Also, the classic Unreal Tournament had some (for that time) very innovative and unique weapons, like the bio rifle or the redeemer. I'm a bit astonished the redeemer isn't on the list, actually.
Ideas are a dime a dozen, or in other words: nothing special. Everyone has them.
This is pretty ironic for you to post on this thread. A game like MW2 wouldn't have to fear piracy, if it was reasonably priced. Good games still sell, despite piracy. But this unjustified increase in price angers a lot of people, and will result in many pirated copies.
How old are you? Sex and curses are essential parts of any real adults life. It makes sense to include them in films, games and books, because they help detail the characters.
Yeah, and they also broke the consistent art style.
@AorangePPLE: I doubt many of those "older" people want to play retail games on their computers.
Using Ubuntu is much easier than using Windows. I've tried it with a lot of neighbours and relatives, and where there aren't any hardware conflicts, Ubuntu rules. You don't have to follow wonky setup routines to install software, everything is updated using a centralized manager (every piece of software, not just the OS), you don't have to worry about malware, and everything is fre...
Well. there are some things that can go wrong, but mostly it is plug and play, yes. Also, most people already own a PC, so all they have to do is swap the graphics card. Cheap and easy.
Yes, it is. Tie Fighter is one of the top 10 games of all time.
No console controller is suited for FPS games.
Yeah, the original Fallout games might be a bit dated for 2009. But now that you have gametap installed, be sure to check out Psychonauts, it's one of the best games ever made.
It's not even true. People that buy used games buy them because they are cheap. They would never shell out 50$ for a new one, so they are NOT killing a potential sale.
The L4D experiment clearly showed that game pricing is out of whack. They are simply too expensive, and not on the ideal spot of the price/sale function. A new game should be 25$. They would sell more than twice the amount they are selling now, so the gain would be even better.
Are they corporate computers, then?
Ever heard of adblock plus?
It's not quite the same thing, no. In GoW MP you have to wait maybe 5-10 Minutes, in Far Cry 2, you can lose 20 hours, if you die later on in the game.
