@Major_Tom: The first AVP was groundbreaking, that's true. It was also differently balanced than its successor (the predator was VERY tough). Also, it had an interesting twist with the destructible lights (the trick was to destroy around half the lights, so that the marines couldn't see very good with or without night-vision). Also, the explosion effects were very cool, certainly the first of their kind.
But it simply lacked levels to be great in MP. And you have to agree, that all the ...
I give them a chance. But it will be difficult to live up to AVP2, and even harder to top it.
This article make you think that Microsoft and the Linux world are constantly at war, and that this common cause is a remarkable achievement, when this is just the first time that Microsoft is supporting a reasonable cause. That's it.
It's interesting that this article makes you believe 4GB of RAM is standard, while not even a third of all steam survey participants have more than 2GB. People use still Windows XP, which means they can't go over 4GB. Maybe Windows 7 combined with the low RAM prices will change that.
Wrong, Sl1m Daddy. Only bad shooters are non-stop action fests. Good shooters go up and down like the tides. And it is during such a down phase that you can impress the player with pretty scenery and effects.
You are right though, that pretty graphics alone do not make a game.
S.T.A.L.K.E.R. is famous for its atmosphere. Everyone should play it, it's a good game, despite the few problems it has (bugs, irrelevant side quests, bothersome AI respawn system, unsatisfying end(s)).
Finally...what took them so long?
Actually, I would do it to just show them how important backups are...data without backups is not data.
If you have no backups, you are either extremly stupid (and therefore deserve the lesson of losing all your data) or you want to go out of business, but are not brave enough to admit it.
You are right. Nowadays, Mac vs. PC usually means MacOS vs. Windows.
Why is a Mac good for students? Also, why should games run at slideshow speeds on a Mac? You can get an iMac with an ATI HD4850 GPU. Install Windows, and you have a pretty decent gaming rig, capable of playing current games at reasonable resolutions and framerates.
Finally a useful toplist. I doesn't have anything to do with gaming, though, so...
Okay, this is my last post here, because I don't have any bubbles left. I don't know why I invest this time, anyway, because you obviously don't take this seriously, as you contradict yourself in several ways.
First, you announce that you plan to buy Windows 7, then you say you can't afford a new network adapter.
Also, you claim to have explored and studied Linux for more than 7 years, yet you never made the switch. But you can't name one single credible reason that kept you from ...
PCs are more popular than Macs? Macs ARE PCs. They just come with MacOS preinstalled, while regular PCs usually ship with an OS of Microsoft. But you can install MacOS on your regular PC and you can install Windows on a Mac.
Actually, a Mac is just another PC. It's the same x86 based hardware. Maybe they are talking about MacOS? But I can install this on my regular PC as well, so...
Actually, Everquest created the architecture, WoW just polished and perfected it.
In your world, the terrorists have won.
@CaseyRyback: It's true that pc games are negatively influenced by console gaming (not just on a technical level, btw.). It's not true, however, that more gpu power is useless for all games except Crytek's offerings. There is more to computer graphics than FPS, polycount, display resolution, texture resolution, texture filtering and anti-aliasing. Nowadays, complex shader programs affect performance much harder than any of those basic things, and it's pretty easy to switch them off for consol...
Well, there is still Blizzard. Strangely enough, they have no problems selling their products. Maybe it's because they are good?
I have bought Zenoclash, and finished it in 6 hours. It's a very artistic game, but the gameplay is...well, let's just say it didn't really work for me. Also, there is practically no replay value.
Low, as always in Blizzard games.
