The openness of the mac could be about the Mac running windows software straight up rather than messing around so maybe want Sony to allow the running of xbox games on the PS3 straight up.
Overall though, it'd probably be better for them to just say they make PC only games and hand off the xbox port to other companies and be done with it all rather than keep trying...

The PlayTV box is a DBT or DBV box your signals won't get seen by playTV via the cable box as they'd be analogue.
Also USA don't do free to air digital signals.
As there is only aerial and usb cable.
You do understand that before anyone gets paid out the court is going to want people to first prove they used the feature and then ask what they did with Linux on the PS3.

The people that use Linux only on PS3 ain't people who'll be using it for games as well.
The US Army don't buy PS3's so they can play a PS3 game here and there, they buy it because they want it for the processing power not for games, they'd be on a special firmware made by Sony for them so the can cluster them together for a server farm.

Sony put it there so that 3rd parties could home brew stuff up, which seems to have been going quite well.
GeoHotz crap is what got it removed, and wiped out the homebrew section.
Homebrew people will be blaming GeoHotz for this removal.

My fat PS3 hasn't been updated and I'm thinking of simply buying a slim PS3 for the gaming.
Most of the people whinging are the kids who want to pirate games as you have to have it to hardware mod the PS3 then install the software hack, but that only gives some extra ram and lets you look at the CPU directly doesn't allow you to do anything in terms of pirating.
This "feature" hasn't been used in marketing material though.
So I don't see how this class action will go anywhere as the law is about marketing or advertising not what some user manual has.
The only offical Sony site with anything about OtherOS is the Japanse Sony PS3 site, which can't be used as it's not in a region where the law could even apply again it's not marketing material as it's not been used in advertising.
The funny thing is that the Europe market is the worlds largest games/console market probably for everything else as well really in the world.
Yet the US market is what most companies fuss over.
I think the US market is only half the size of the Europe market.
UK isn't a separate market it's a part of the Europe market.
What they did wrong was to shop around a new game or new MW2/3 type game without letting activision know about it.
Most companies don't allow this in the contract as they could let codebase out to other companies or become spies etc or sabotage activision in some way for another company.

you'd need to total them all up, just to get near the total PC sales for 1 year, no single console platform sells anywhere near that amount.

PS3 and Wii number won't be much lower than the total sales due to very few of them being broken.
