I be honest I'd like to see Sony sue him, maybe apple will join in.
I find a lot of homebrew stuff to be utter crap any way you know the half arsed crap version of a paid version.
bit like gimp compared to photoshop, gimp is ok but trying to do simply photoshop stuff in gimp is a major pain in the arse.
Piracy hasn't killed gaming but it's put
DRM on games.
On PC it's Online only distro, shops don't sell many PC games anymore because PC games aren't released on disk anymore, the ones you see on the shelves are steam copies.
Online distro will become the norm for all console games, they simply won't be sold at a brick and mortar stores... that's saying they will even exist in a few years time.

@DaTruth
You do know copyright lasts for 100 years.
It's piracy because 99% of people wouldn't have the carts etc for that software so it's ripping off the owners.
ask capcom etc if they want you to pay for those roms or have them for free.
Well it's companies that make the big games right now.
And they have people who look at the gains to made if they make/release a game on X platform.
If they are going to make a decent profit well they'll go ahead if it won't then they don't make a game for that platform.
Look at the DS that has all sort of stuff released that isn't even a game currently you have a drawing program for it.
A company would no...
Goehot will end up getting sued for being an enabler of piracy on the PS3.
It only takes 1 other person in the world to sign a program that will allow pirated games to work on the PS3.
that's it.
Once that happens then Sony can sue him and in the land of the USA that'd mean busted bigtime.
end users wouldn't be able to sue Sony as they own the hardware and can alter it as they see fit.
What your saying is someone rents a place and the owners come in a alter the house while their in it and then saying the renters can sue the owner doesn't work like that in real life.
what can happen though is Sony sueing the hacker group for being an enabler of piracy on the PS3, that's why they are trying to not allow pirated games work on the stuff...
Sony could alter FW keys and encryptions.
Currently the only people saying Sony can't do something have been the hackers and they really wouldn't know what Sony can and can't do.
Currently all this stuff has only come about since the firmware code got leaked so if it hadn't gotten leaked then none of this would have happened I'd say.
I wouldn't be surprised if the root key can also be changed, as these keys only come a...
@DelbertGrady
Yes, your correct that Sony give shipped numbers, but they said they had sold 2 million in a week in the USA I believe.
Where as MS are probably using world wide figures.
Microsoft: Every Kinect we make we sell
Well! it's probably good that they do sell them as these other people who make Kinect could be making a killing! you know selling more of them...
Now I wonder who also make Kinect?
Don't you love dickheads in marketing it's a comics dream!!!
To be honest the hackers wouldn't know that, they just assume that can't be changed because it's from the CELL.
Sony on the 27th just bought all the CELL fab factories.
So they can change the hardware themselves, won't be hard for them to bring in IBM to update the CELL.
That'll be their final answer.
@Blaze929
It's easy.
Do you have back up manager on the PS3 HD?
is it set in a debug mode? all current jailbroken PS3 are just in debug mode they aren't really jailbroken.
Do you have files to games sitting on the HD that shouldn't be there, that would only be on the disk.
if so then you'd have a non-standard PS3 wouldn't you.
But those are freeware, you want pirated stuff.
So you'd be wanting IE9 instead.
but overall who's gonna want a web browser when there's games to be pirated don't you know web browsers take a back seat.
@FragMnTagM
There's already a product that doe smiley faces on toast but it's patented so copied could lead to you being sued for copying it.
Life sure is hard, when you can't even come up with a brand new product.
Well radio stations pay for a licence to RIAA to play music and then pay royalties to the band that made the music just so you can listen to music on the radio and the bands can be paid something for their music to be p...
@bailoutbenny
Your a complete dickhead.
Crytek look at a site and see 500,000 people have grabbed crysis for free they times that by $60 and and then go that's 30 million dollars of lost sales.
Crytek don't make games for free and pay their employees nothing you know.
How do you pay your bills? do you tell the ISP that you have no cash but keep it going as they should know your good for it.
They'...
Well running emulators is patent infringement and then running the games without the cart is piracy.
But people claim that to be homebrew.
there's very little real home brew, because there's no real need for a video player already have that, music player already have that, picture viewer already have that web browser already have that etc etc.
So what would be worth while homebrew on the PS3 really?
Sony own the factory that make the CELL so they can alter the chip if they want.
I see a new version coming out pretty soon one with no USB ports, no either net port but will have bluetooth and the WiFI and make all games download only or as with need for speed hot pursuit and GT5 make the games log all incoming game start ups online.
Don't have your new PS3 on the net no games will work for you.
So currently all the people who have been ...
Or
He some how ended up falling out the back of a train while moving, or maybe off the platform one dark night you know after a few days of no one being able to find him.
That happens as well.
I do think it's funny how they keep saying it's only for home-brew when there's no home-brew on the PS3 in the first place bar yellowdog.
And on top of that the only home brew you could say from that was the xbox movie software being ported to it that's been it.
People wanting to run 8-bit games from the early 80's is a laugh as well, because that's what everyone :roll's eyes: wants to play on their brand new 2011 PS3.
I don't think this will mean much really.
I remember Geohot saying each PS3 has a completely different key so grabing 1 key from 1 PS3 is pointless, you'd need to grab the PS3 key from the PS3 itself before anything could work and in saying that you'd still not have the overall key to the CELL as GeoHot couldn't get that key anyway.
Read what he said last time.
That's when Sony came out and said the CELL chip can't be ...
Oh well, that's Geohot fucked.
Sued for being an enabler of piracy on the PS3.
End of story.
