Well clearly Microsoft is lying about something. The regular X1 is almost 4 years old at this point. I think we all agree it maybe has 2-3 more years left. They also said X1X wouldn't ever have exclusives (games that don't work on X1).
So, which is it? It either will have exclusives or it won't have longevity. They can't both be true.

Third parties never optimize as well as first party in general. Not something knew. That's why the significant power gap between PS4 and X1 didn't really matter and now the gap between X1X and PS4Pro really don't matter. It will be marginal differences for third party games.
The switch had a couple months. So did WiiU. It will only get worse.
1 or maybe 2 due to new console release, that's about it.
Phil became GM of Microsoft Studios in 2008 and VP of it in 2009. He has been responsible for their first party titles for nearly a decade now, so don't give me this 4 year crap.

The reason WiiU was a stupid name was because it may make one think it is just an upgraded version for the current generation, but it wasn't... it was a whole new generation. Should have gone with a new name or a number at least.
