All of them except farcy for me. I'll probably wait for Xcom 2 on console.
In a sense. I think diversify would be better. They down right own the kiddie market, while PS and Xbox fight over the older demo (18-35), I think they can own the rated T for teen crowd just as strongly as they do the kiddie market. Keep Mario and Donkey Kong for the kids, but build up the T for Teen with the Zeldas and metroids in the catalog and toss a few M for mature games to keep it rounded, not to compete with PS and Xbox, but to have something for everyone.
If that's your plan, I wouldn't buy anymore games for a while.
I was very happy with my X1. It's a fantastic console. But a cautionary tale, I finally bit the bullet and bought a gaming PC, and now.. I don't really have much use for my X1. Seems like all the exclusives I care about are on PC as well. Still a good console that I'd recommend, just not to someone with a gaming PC.
Sooo what you're saying is.. "what does that factual statement about PS3 vs X1 sales matter? Here's some spin that paints Xbox in a better light."
I mean PS1 never faced competition from Nintendo? really?
And yes, just about a tie with PS3 slightly on top when comparing 360 and PS3 sales, But 360 had over a year head start, so when you look at first year vs first year, then 2nd vs 2nd and so on, 360 doesn't look as hot. Still hot, but not as much.
Remember back during the launch window of these new consoles Sony was taking some potshots? "this is how you share your games on PS4" and such. Everything they said was true but it was viewed as a potshot. Same thing here. It's always in poor taste though. Doing it from Sony's position seems petty, doing it from MS's Seems like a bruised ego. and from Nintendo it would seem desperate. All it does is preach to the choir anyway.
Ah that last bit made me laugh. You're right of course. I know I'm way too tough on the guy, just... I feel like that one guard in tales from the borderlands episode one, the one you buy the mask from for the race. "I'm sorry, I just really hate your face".
I mean look at that still from the video up top with him winking. Doesn't that cheek just scream "punch goes here"?
I shouldn't say this and it probably makes me a bad person, but whenever I an article with Cliffy's name, my mind automatically replaces it with "punchable face".
I just don't like that guy and can't seem to keep my bias in check when it comes to him or Phil Fish.
Yes, but 55 million is close to 58 million and I think that's what they were trying to say.
All that mumbo jumbo talk aside, I how they continue to out pace last gen by a big margin. Hell, I hope Wii U picks up and NX goes gangbusters. I want to play games on a PS5 and nextbox.
If it comes with all the DLC and is $40 or less...

@magnes It seems to be a catch 22. We all buy it on PS4 and they think "See, they buy it anyway so all of that MS money is just gravy"
Or, we don't buy it, or get it used and they think "Wow, good thing we got that MS money, look at how horrible it's selling on PS4"
But from what I've read in a few articles, CD and square know how badly they screwed the pooch. So the former is the way to go. Granted for me that's on the conditi...
You don't see why? Because perception matters. Look at the beating they took as details of the deal started to come out. They're not going to be stupid enough to launch on PS4 at more than what X1 costs at the time. That would start up another uproar on the biggest install base of current gen. No company wants that much bad blood with their consumers.
This isn't exactly a deal. It's not stealing as it's official in a certain part of the world, but still, it seems... not so kosher. Still, I wouldn't go so far as to call it wrong. grey area to me for sure.
I must be looking at that wrong. It took off at month 11 then slowed a bit after the 14th month before picking back up again at the 23rd month. But then again, I'm a bit high.
That's cool. Wish they went into a little more detail, something I'd love to read more about.
Ah, I see I read it wrong. my mistake.
@dreadz: been on the market for what? 26 months for the 36 million figure to apply. 36million/26months=1.38million per month.
Well, yes I agree those numbers are nothing to be ashamed of. But from your comment below (not sure where you got the 360 numbers so I can't source) the X1 is at 20 million and the 360 was at 21 million. So now the X1 isn't even out pacing the 360 assuming your numbers are right. additionally, you said the PS3 was at 17+ million, so it's still being outsold by the X1.
The truly fascinating thing for me though, is, if your numbers are accurate, that means the PS4 is trend...
It's right. you just went backwards when doing the math. 150% of 39 is 58. And 71% of 55 is 39. The former is what they're alluding to and the later is what you are.
It's same thing from back when people were arguing over the PS4 being either 50% or 33% more powerful than the X1.
@trauma I own a gaming PC. Please tell me where you get a $60 game for $5. That just doesn't happen. even if there was some crazy steam sale that I didn't see, you're acting like a $55 price cut on a $60 game is common place when it's not. Also, you're comparing full retail price on console to the lowest possible sale price on steam. Not exactly apples to apples. Steam is cheaper, but not 90% cheaper.
