As someone who bought SC2 on day 1.... yeah, you would only be buying 1/3 of a game. To be fair, though, the maps are all pretty damned good (it's just the set-up... the narrative itself that's filler).
Even then, unless you're a huge MP person, I'd think long and hard before buying a bundle. Unless the writing quality makes a huge upturn, I'd recommend either 1) piracy or 2) waiting for a 3 game bundle at <50% MSRP.
When's this coming out again?
I still need to finish the first game. I was right near the end when I stopped, too.
It wasn't overlooked so much as it was carefully and deliberately released at a specific time guaranteed to prevent it from selling well.
No one has the "right" to malign JRPGs. "JRPG" is the single most diverse genre out there. Bioware, hell, most of the criticisms leveled against Japanese games in general lately, are little more than thinly-veiled bigotry.
It's unpleasant, but to be expected now that Western developers are actually a force in the industry.
I can't believe Alienware is still around. What's their demographic these days? Casual PC gamers don't need the hardware or want the aesthetic, and the "old school" crowd that's stuck around (despite the increasing irrelevance of PC gaming as a whole) generally build their own PCs, considering that's the only basis they've got left for smug self-superiority.
So I guess that leaves... MMO junkies?
Does anyone have a link to the original preview?
You know, the one, several weeks ago, that so many dunces have regurgitated and reposted?
I've decided to follow anonyomous' example and disagree with you.
I do not think there is nothing there you like. I think you are lying.
And/or that it is only a small amount of content.
And/or that you neither need nor desire additional money.
You damned dirty liar.
Been waiting for the "Amazing Earth: Blue Planet" theme, or something like it, for years.
Wish it looked better... as it is, I'm not sure it's quite so impressive as some of the Apollo shots I'd been using for background images.
A few points.
1. Shitty article. Bad writing, worse reasoning.
2. Jade Raymond? Who was she again? Oh, right, that producer who gave interviews and... yeah. That's about all she did. Oh, right, she also suffered all that hate and had her public career ruined with faggot-faced morons couldn't deal with the fact that women can work in the game industry.
That was years ago. You'd think those immature dumbasses would have grown the fu...
That ol' puritan moral ethic we've inherited is a matter of fact, sure, but I don't think it has anything to do with the double-standard US censors have when it comes to sex and violence.
It has more to do with various oversights in the "codes" we've used to censor entertainment media over the last century, and the tendency for entertainment media to cater to the lowest common denominator.
That LCD? Stupid religious poor people. The...
Haven't played Crysis 2, but I gave up on San Andreas because all of the swearing.
Not so much because it was offensive to me, but because it was so prevalent it made every character sound like a drooling incontinent dumbass.
It's probably a troll. After all the disappointment that accompanied Starcraft II, the easiest "prediction" to make out is that D3 will turn out the same way.
And it probably will.
But all that nostalgia-love people have for older Bliz. games will ensure a very vocal reaction.
Mostly.
Maybe if they offered a $80 rebate for FFXIV they'd get more takers.
Nah, probably not.
I hope they're smart about this. We need cross-platform digital content to apply to every platform. If I buy a game off steam, I should be able to play it on my PC and my PS3.
If they don't do that, and insist and maintaining an artificial barrier between PS3 and PC content, I won't bother.
A Jade Empire sequel might be good. First game had a lot of potential that was (sadly) never really realized.
IIRC, the whole game (main quest + sidequests) was less than 8 hours.
There's nothing angry in that post. But, hey, even the slightest HINT of criticism against a Bioware title is more than enough to draw out the fanboys, as evidenced by the 17 disagree votes up there.
I suppose it would be the next best thing to a PS3 Valkyria sequel.
Honestly, though, I'd rather see a remake or an HD port of the original. Okamiden was... not very impressive.
Game begins with Shepard on Earth
(Bout damned time we saw Earth. Hope this doesn't mean we still won't get to spend most of the game exploring the galaxy.)
Shepard is on trial in regard to the events of Arrival
(I love me a good courtroom scene. Here's hoping it's got a lot of paths, and not just two different kinds of being let go)
Reapers invade while the trial is happening
(That's disappointing.)
This is not news.
This would be like me writing an article saying, "Guess what everybody! Uncharted 3 is confirmed!"
We've known AC was going to be a trilogy for years.
The most ill-advised game ever was Minesweeper.
Goddamn little thing still pisses me off.
