A lot of the problem stems from the fact that a lot of people don't know what "innovative" means.
A lot of gamers (and a lot of people in the gaming media these days) really have VERY little experience with older games, so when they see any game that does something different than the generic shooter they expect, they declare it innovative. They deem it new and, by virtue of its newness, better, simply because they're ignorant of the precedent.
It's about damned time.
I'd like to see Bethesda make a post-apocalyptic open world sandbox game set on a future terraformed mars.
With dragons and elves and magic.
And zeppelins.
FUND IT.
That's not the point. The point is that it's not exactly going to be something new or exciting or innovative, and therefore not the kind of game that should be on anyone's "most anticipated list." It's just another sequel. And not exactly one from a top-tier developer.
I don't care about this.
Or the special edition. (What's with the lame extras, anyway?)
Or any preview/advertisement at all.
All I care about is the news that Catherine will be shipping weeks early from Amazon.
E3's most anticipated title? Hardly.
Is anyone really expecting the game to be anything more than a prettier Oblivion with dragons?
If they do make a sequel, I would rather have all of the cases be isolated, or only peripherally linked. I hated having to do things "wrong" so much of the time in LA Noir.
All of those games had at least a quarter to a half million copies sold, and dominated the "top-selling" charts for several weeks.
EDIT: not to mention that the PS2 remake line hasn't exactly been moving along sales lines. Or at all, really.
I fully expect this PSP line to go the same route: we'll get 3 or 4 total ports, and nothing else.
For starters, NONE of the games that are either ports of older games, or games that exist on series which are already on the PS3. Yes, it would be nice to play the other Valkyria games... but we still have VC1. The priority should be games that are ONLY available on the PSP. Metal Gears, Ace Combats, God of Wars and Valkyrias (not to mention Final Fantasies Star Oceans, etc.) should all be the absolute lowest priority.
I'd be mostly interested in any of the Macross games,...
Good gameplay, weak presentation and writing. Dialog is good, though.
Haven't played the console version, but it seems to me it's the kind of game that people either love or hate: console gamers tend to love it because it's one of the best Console WRPGs ever made, PC Gamers are somewhat less enthusiastic, because it's so very clearly NOT one of the best PC WRPGs ever released. An interesting divide, I think.
Personally, I'm glad for any co...
Macross Ace Frontier.
Gundam Battle Universe.
Project Diva.
Valkyria Chronicles II and III
All those Disgaea games.
So much potential... let's hope this new series doesn't end up like the PS2 remake line, where we only get 1 or 2 new games per year.
Project Diva PS3.
Gundam Battle Universe PS3.
MACROSS ACE FRONTIER PS3!!!!!
Words cannot express how very, very okay I am with this. That someone is enough of a dumbass to actually disagree with this comment of mine... I am substantially less okay with.
Not really a fan of Monster Hunter games.
Then again, there are plenty of games I liked on home consoles but didn't on handhelds: the addition (or lack) of dual analog controls can make a BIG difference.
That said, I'm unsure of how well a game like that might do outside of Japan. There's not a lot of blood or gore, the combat is pretty slow-paced by our standards, and there's no real story to drive the player forward. The whole game basically...
Agreed.
What really sucks is that it's IMPOSSIBLE to criticize any console this generation without being labelled a fanboy and having your words ignored. This console-war mentality is HUGELY detrimental to the gaming industry, because it prevents the producers from even hearing legitimate criticism, and even when they hear it, difficult to recognize it.
Just look at Bioware's reaction to Dragon Age 2: they basically wrote off all the criticism as &quo...
A ZOE game would be the best thing to happen.
Another awful MGS game would be the worst thing to happen.
My long years of gaming lead me to expect a new MGS game.
The same games I was playing before: I've only ever had fun with co-op multiplayer, and there are precious few games this gen that have good co-op.
Also, I prefer slower paced tactical shooters opposed to twitch shooters (think Mechwarrior 3) and there really aren't any of those game this gen.
Really, all I care about is the PSN store... and that's still gone.
Well, back to LA Noir and Yakuza 4 for me.
As someone who has played multiple games on multiple platforms (as in copies of the same game on PS3, 360 and PC) I can say with EXTREME CONVICTION that barring a few very extreme examples (like Bayonetta) the differences between 360 and PS3 multiplats are virtually indiscernable. With still shots, you have to work hard to spot any difference: with the game in motion, you don't even have time for that.
The only time a game ever looks noticeably better on one platform than...
Because Tychus Findlay and Jim Raynor were such well-developed, compelling characters in Starcraft 2.
...
*sigh*
I'm done. I just can't even muster the will to care anymore.
I can see why you only have 2 bubbles.
Rockstar did not make L.A. Noir.
And personally, I think the biggest problem was the lack of unlockables. You level up, but levelling up doesn't do anything. You can unlock new suits, but there are only 5 to unlock, and you get them all less than 1/3rd through the game (and they all look the same).
I do have high hopes for a potential sequel, however. If they can expand upon Noir's strengths and avoid making some of the same mistakes (like those awful...
