Xbox(redesign?) + natal + 14 launch titles and maybe, just maybe, a 50 dollar price cut on the pro?
Halo reach
Fable 3
Crackdown 2
alan wake
mass effect 2
splinter cell conviction
mech warrior
then you have a ton of rumors and awesome multiplatform games like MGSR. Throw in a couple of unannounced titles(pgr5? PD2?), and exclusive content, and another great selection of xbla titles(shadow complex 2 plz) and you've got a good year. ...
natal and the pseye are nothing alike. How many times have developers and journalists said this already? Why do people still keep on spreading this fud?
The perter jackson halo game fell through when the movie did and I wouldn't doubt that they'll use assets from the closed project in what they're currently working on.
I'm going to say that they might be working on a mmofps, similar to something like Dust415 but set in the haloverse. Which I wouldn't complain about honestly.
I'll go with true crimes 3.
Maybe they're not lazy or baised. Maybe they just don't have the funds or the development team to work on the ps3. Maybe they and microsoft have some sort of relationship like bioware has had in the past?
I hate all this valve hate. Valve has single handedly saved PC gaming when it was dying with half-life and counter-strike, and they've done it again with steam.
Without valve and blizzard, there'd probably be no pc gaming left.
Chip designers have known about the benefits of parallel computing for the good portion of the last 2 decades. The point of not going that path until recently was that we still haven't hit the proverbial glass ceiling with regards to chip performance. Now that we're nearing it you see the adoption of the gpgpu spawned by opencl/computedrivers/cuda on the GPU not because of the cell. And prior to that intel has been using a similar method for intergrated graphics on laptops since I can remembe...
What they're talking about is the core.
Realistically they'd use a similar setup as the current 360 which has 3 heavily modified power5's hyper-threaded.
The ps4 would use something similar with like 3 power7's running in parallel with a possible 5th combining all the threads.
You'd also have a high-end gpu providing texture and geometry work.
But theories are circulating that MS is actually looking at removing the cpu all together and going down a gpgpu road with multiple modified high-end GPU's working in parallel, they'd then use compute shaders as the basic coding language.
Right now the 5870 is producing 2.72TFLOPS, yes that's T for teraflops which is like the the equivalent of 1000GFLOPs. Not only that you can also have that run in Xfire...
realistically if you have 2 5870's running in Xfire you're looking at 5TFLOPS or 5000GFLOPS.
Can you honestly tell me that the difference from what we're seeing now to what we will see next generation will be that significant that we need to worry about hardware now?
I'd rather both sony and microsoft make a PS3.5 and Xbox 540 and be profitable then risk them leaving the console gaming market. There's still a ton of power to be squeezed out of both the 360 and the ps3. I mean look at the ps2 and orginal xbox for example.
Black, Ninja Gaiden, GOW, Doom 3, Bur...
At the highest setting on my PC it looks better then killzone 2 and it's step for step with uncharted 2, hell the console versions themselves are almost as good looking as killzone 2, had they optimized the games for each specific console I'm sure it'd be the second best looking console game this year.
People can disagree with me if they want but that's more of an indication of people's blind fanatacism and not an objective view on the game.
Anyone else think the disparity between sites like this(rational) and the ones like PSU(retarded) is ironic considering that one of the according fan base constantly claims a higher maturity?
Or is it just me?
With the inclusion of social gaming, twitter/facebook to the 360 this will likely work as an xbla game or waypoint like feature that allows facebook 360 users to play games with other facebook users and by doing so attempt to invite friends to the 360.
If it works it works, if it doesn't it's an interesting experiment at best.
I actually think people aren't giving MS enough credit for natal. Remember that unlike the pstoy natal will be available for use on PC too, and that's when we'll really see the difference between what current cameras can do and what natal can do.
there's a pretty interesting video on his website looking at microsoft research and microsoft corp and it's use for this muscle based control.
his blog is called procrastineering. He's also a lead on natal and was the gentlemen that set up head tracking for the wii. I wouldn't be surprised if ms is developing it for use with games.

so he might not be as far of...
codemasters used the advantages of DX11 on the crowds, flags, and water the most, only some use for atmospheric effects. And it also doesn't measure performance.
We need some more time before we can start making accurate comparisons.
I thought that it was the darkest and most mature. It also had the greatest subplots. It felt like it was more a story of the world through the eyes of link rather then the story of link.
It's also myamoto's favorite I believe.
Then they'd use medpacks instead of regenerating health.
But the reality is that it's poor design, plain and simple.
1. the story doesn't make sense, plain and simple. He killed a bunch of russian civilians at an airport but for some reason they hate Americans? Wasn't Zahkiev in the first game bad, why does he have a monument all of a sudden?
2. the single player gameplay is poorly designed, half the time you have no clue what's happening, or where you to go. For example there are parts of missions telling you to take out target X, but the environment is littered with different items, movable t...
You only see depth of field, motion blur, and auch while the game is in motion. And much of that is shown in the great performance the title gets compared to what it would in dx9 to get the same effects.
compute shaders ftw.
