second dev kits are out, will ps3 games finally look the part?
What about big games already in development, does it mean they're going to be rehashed because of new kits?

even if a console uses 100% of the hardware, the company can make better textures, better animations, better models etc. I mean ninja gaiden black still looks pretty good to some of the games coming out right now.
Consumer loyalty is also a big part as to why the 360 isn't as popular there. Japanese gamers like the Japanese consoles. But at least MS is trying in japan with games like blue dragon, Cry on, and trusty bell to name a few, it's more than just relying on user base like the ps3 did.
The wii is going to sell on price point and games that appeal to everyone. And for some reason they really enjoy games that are very menial over there in japan, or are completely new.
Don't get me wrong they're huge titles in japan, but the japanese are known for returning a console after they finish a game, and if these titles don't make a large enough splash or the developers don't see the game making enough profit from it, you could see either a console jump or not large change.
I can see microsoft taking up the second console position now. For those people that have the wii but also want another console it looks like the 360 would be a good choice. It's about time for a price cut anyways. I think they're smart to try and usurp the ps3 launch with a price cut, there's a lot of people that will be swayed into getting a 360 with a cheaper price point.
How at best buy they kept pushing me to hold out for a ps3 and get blu-ray, and how great blu-ray was, and how the ps3 is the true gaming experience, and how much better blu-ray movies are etc.

It's still selling without games, and gundam mousu(and if you know anything about japan you know this was supposed to be a killer app) or w/e just hit in japan for the ps3, there was no boost in sales from anticipation or anyhting like that.

maybe he should stop using it is a door prop and keep it in good condition. I have never had an issue with any hardware from microsoft. However:
-My $100 sony headphones broke after 9 months
-My playstation 2 crapped out on me 3 times
-My Walkman wouldn't close after about 1.5 years of use (my mini disc was 6 months, just after the warranty finished)
-My sony dvd player was scratching discs
-and sony blew up my laptop.

Dude, I'm a computer science major. I know what I'm talking about. The technology has been around for years, there's a reason home computers and other hadware rarely use that many cpu's. It's not useful. Don't expect to see the ps3 out preforming the 360 any time soon.

The Xbox 360 will be on par with the PS3 for a long time. The cell architecture is built for running a lot of small processes quickly. It's not built for playing games it's better for playing blu-ray movies to be honest. in fact the cell was built because it was very good for use in things such as standalone players, cameras etc. because of it's low nergy use.

A real contender because it's not in the same market as the 360 and ps3. The wii isn't the media hub that the ps3 and 360 claim to be. It's not the entertainment device, pc to tv connector, the game console, and the HD ready console of the future. Not to mention there's really inst that fear from the wii, the price point is the main factor. I personally think the wii is a more of a secondary console to the 360 or ps3 than a competeing one, and I think most people agree with that.

that wasn't an excuse to begin with since all dev kits are released at roughly the same time, then beta kits, etc. The only difference is that you get to see your final product earlier.
The other reason it wasn't an excuse is that previous generations, games were out preforming on day 1, halo was the best looking console game at the time. Ports looked better on the cube and 360.
