New engine looks absolutely fantastic for a game of this scale. Out-RAGE-ous.

Except downloading the titles is completely unnecessary. You can just rent them, and copy them to the hard drive.

I agree completely. How is this any different, really?

As for Hackers using the Other OS removal as a scapegoat, I probably agree with that as well. It's not like they need an excuse to do it though, christ. It's to cover their asses legally (what little it does anyways), and everyone should be aware of this.

I stopped reading after the first sentence. The two are not comparable, whatsoever, therefore your point sucks. Sorry.

What are you afraid of? The companies reputation, your community reputation, what is it REALLY? This doesn't affect anyone really. People will continue to buy games, just like they do on the other two consoles. I really can't boil this down to anything other than fanboys in denial. Let people use the system how they want, and mind your own damn business.

Exactly. Even if they can close the hole, the damage is done. We already know what's inside, so being able to get to it anymore is unnecessary. Private keys, bitches.

It's like a kid getting a present for Christmas and opening it early. His parents scold him, and lock it away in something impenetrable until Christmas day. But, the kid already knows everything about his present. It doesn't matter that it has been re-hidden.

A simulated vult still achieves the desired result, apparently, as that's what has been done. Even if Sony could keep them out of the literal thing with an update, they already have all the information they need to keep this going indefinitely. All current hardware operates the same, they need simply not update their machine. A patch will only keep them out, but they're already in...

Story in KZ2 was far worse than "meh" in my opinon. I'll give them a bit of wiggle room as it was a technical proof of concept more than anything, but still no excuse. Needs good characters, voice acting, and story to be a top tier game, as well as good gameplay of course. This one looks to be making leaps and bounds, but it remains to be seen. Few games have a story that lives up to their trailers.

I'm not being cynical, but I refuse to board the hype train...

Where is Batman, Elder Scrolls?? List fails! I don't like the ordering :)

Hackers are practically the quality control of the computing world. They kick your beloved companies in the ass to force them to make a better, more efficient, more secure product. Animosity towards hackers is misplaced.

If anything, they've helped Sony in the LONG run. You can be sure the same mistake will not be made again, making future systems even more secure. Short term results are regrettable, but if they really left the back door open, they completely deserve this...

Maybe they'll have some "clever" way of detection, but even then, it's wide open so I can't see it taking long to reverse whatever Sony attempts to fix. As said, a hardware change would likely be required, but then games would be running new keys and not run on older consoles (their entire install base so far)?

If that's the case they are going to have to accept this and work on methods of detection other than an actual fix.

And for ...

IGN is absolutely fine and always has been. Different PEOPLE review games differently, and what IGN has to say is usually on par what the majority of reviewers thought, fact. Everyone cries about MW2, but all the other publications gave that a good score as well. They couldn't have possibly known how much of a mess it would become, so it's not fair to accuse them of this. Black Ops, for example, received a noticeably lower score, but IMO is arguably the better of the two (on 360 at le...

Perhaps... the better solution would be to get Windows running on it natively, but from what I hear it doesn't support the cell processor which makes it improbable. Through linux, you could possibly run games within Wine, but the performance would vary and recent games wouldn't have a hope.

You're correct about software hacks, but the hack is only used to find the information. Users will not need to "hack" anything. The private keys supposedly allow for this.

Hardware hacks are not the major problem at all. A system is completely capable of finding a foreign component, so that I don't agree on whatsoever.

Here's my take. Piracy is, of course, bad for everyone because it's a cyclical shit storm when it becomes rampant. As for installing custom software on your PS3 through this exploit? I myself am going to go nuts for it. Of course I'll use it. N64 and Wii emulation on my TV running through my PS3? Incredibly awesome. (The Dolphin gamecube/wii emu is reportedly being ported to PS3, if you didn't know... Wii HD!)

I have a massive obsession with using hardware to ...

I downloaded Sands of Time and it's perfectly fine (minus a voice sync issue for about 3 seconds at one point)... don't know what anyone else is griping about.

Splinter Cell is in my top three favourite franchises. Definitely picking this up, and I really hope they include the chaos theory multiplayer component.

...and to lay the concerns to rest, this collection will certainly be of the PC/Xbox version, as the PS2/Gamecube versions did not contain dy...

I beat ME2 on 360 three times. There is a graphical glitch in the ps3 demo when you are waking up to Miranda when the roof goes all funny-ish for a second. This was present in the final version of the 360 game as well.

The engine-based videos in the ps3 demo occasionally have some fairly blatant screen tearing, but I'm unsure if that was caused by compression for the demo, so the verdict is still out on whether this is insignificant or not.

I found the PS...

Agree completely. If these two requirements are met, it will be a day one purchase for me. Otherwise I probably won't pick them up.

I have no reason to believe they would use anything other than the PC/Xbox version for the remastering. The PS2/GC releases were definitely gimped, and every bit of praise I have given the series in this thread is surrounded around the fact that one played the Xbox or PC version of the game.

Basically, I'm with you, they should really be mastered off of the PC version.
