Persoanlly I'm so glad they are doing this, as someone has to start somewhere with all this abuse that exists on XboxLIVE at the moment. It's gotten so bad, many simply do NOT go on for fear of being riduculed for simply wanting to have some clean fun.

We shooldn't have to do as others do, ie join in on their stupidity just so we can fit it.

The abuse stops many parents from going on live with their younger kids, and many simply do not want or need to deal with such ...

I'm not a soccer nut, yes, there are some of us out there that do not like soccer or even football . . . shock-horror.

But this game looks great and if I was half tempted, it would be one I'd most likely pick up based on what has been said here, and the visuals (check th mo-cap pic in the thumbnails at the bottom, if every move was captured in that way, then a hell of a lot of work has gone into this game.

Well not only real names, but REAL situations. The whole game is based on the allies LOSING, not winning. Which is an oddity in a game, as gamers like to win. In the end, the gamer loses physically (is killed) . .but there is a moral victory.

They (gearbox) interviewed many vets from that period, and from that actual conflict. Studied the area completely, farm houses, fields, and interviewed many of the older ppl of the area to gain stories from the period. So that the gamer got ...

That's what they said about WWI, that it was "Modern Warfare" - in fact, they called it "The War To End All Wars" . . how wrong they were. There will always be "modern warfare, but it will not be the same as its predecessors simply because war changes.

The idea of these games is to let younger gamers know the horror and often futility of war, no matter when it occurs. There will always be war games, and there will always be new WWII games coming out, beca...

But then BIA:HH was telling a specific story, not trying to have you play a sandbox style game.

The story is based on history, so allowing the player to break the events would not be fitting in with the story they are portraying to you. One where the allies lost more men than they have in the entire Middle Eastern wars of modern time, all in the space of a few weeks - which is why it was called Hell's Highway.

This is not a fictional event, so a sandbox style just w...

Well with blurring, it is supposed to mimic what you see in real life, as your eyes do not focus on EVERYTHING around you at the same time, simply those that immediately need your attention, and they adjust to suit longer and closer distances.

Having everything in focus would be false and un-real and tend to look very flat and plastic. Mercenaries did it, an dlook how that turned out, terrible. It was if the characters were plopped onto the surface of a picture, no depth of field...

SO many complain about WWII games that have a level of realisim to them and that have a tactical segment to them due to the fact that it requires thinking in order to play the game successfully.

No run-n-gun gung-ho style "I'm the best guy ever", just a proper approach to how war games should be made. In actual fact, we have a smaller number of WWII games than most think, and many put other shooters into the same catergory, when in fact, they do not belong in there.

Probably because it requires some patience, not run-n-gun. It's a tactical shooter, not gears of war.

Not me, all wars can be looked at in different ways, and portrayed in various ways to show you the gamers what it might have been like over there.

It was not fun by any means, and no matter how many games they make on it, they will make more, just like they continue to make movies and write books about it, it's a fact of life unfortunately. Many of the devlopers that build games of this nature try to get a message across. Gearbox Studios is actually made up of several ex war vets...

Because, if you come from any other country other than USA (Nth America), the lag is terrible, and the hosting system being US centric is a bloody pain in the backside - period.

If you had to live outside the US or even UK/Europe, you'd know what we are talking about. The previewer was/is speaking from an Australian's perspective, NOT from a global perspective. Try reading the entire thing, not just the parts you want to read to make it wrong.

COD 4 was amazing BEFOR...

His name is Cliff Bleszinski, NOT Cliffy B . . he'll drop-kick you if you call him that now . . he hates it. He's actually a great guy, we had the chance to chat with him quite a lot, and is very accommodating - and passionate about not only his game, but how fans see and experience it.

Well I'm going to throw a cat in amongst the dogs and say, after seeing both Gears 2 and Far Cry 12, my money is right up front with Far Cry 2.

They are two different sub-genre's, one is simply a hell-for-leather shootem-up, the other is based around a very realistic sanereo. But when you put both side by side, Far Cry 2 will win hands down in the looks department. I was sort of keen on both games, hearing about the "amzing" graphics in Gears 2, even in early builds, an...

Well wouldn't you call that laziness then, if they simply don't bother to include something of look into the needs of the SP gamer over the needs of the MP gamers.

I'm not running the developers down as such, but it is a form of laziness never the less.

I can see their reasoning of course. The publishers are pushing the developers to make the games much more Online savvy and online heavy. They do this so that they can have a bigger impact on gamers over a longer per...

Definitely agree, make yourself heard on the poll on the site mate . . there's one at the bottom of the article.

I can't stand the fact that some developers just lazy when it comes to offering such things in games, especially when other similar games do offer them.

It seems the world of gaming is making huge pushes to include nothing BUT MP online gaming, yet - the larger % of gamers around the world actually play Offline SP and Co-Op . .

It's obvious Pu...

I'm just about completely peeved off around the whole issue of both Street Dates being broken, and scum-bags stealing games and putting them up on torrens sites before the game has even been pressed for release to consumers.

Sure, it's an enevidable thing, but publishers need to take a hard line on piracy in this regard, as it undermines the entire pre-release functions and events aimed at bringing the good gamers the products they are waiting for, as well as steal the income of ...

Mate, you'll be literally blown away with this. It leaves anything in the past for dead by a 100 miles and makes things like Forge look like kindy-school stuff at best.

There is no limit to what you can do with this map editor, and I wouldn't be making that statement if I hadn't of seen it myself. It's simply unbelievable, it truly is a work of art.

Sadly is is only playable in MP, as it would take way too much work to work something out to the standard they have set...

They will be, IGN's next major Black Beta night will be held in Melbourne, and we will be there to cover it for you, and cath up with the Melbourne community while we are there as well. It will be in around 6 weeks time, and once we have more news on it, we'll most certainly share it with you.

Okay, we've just spent an excellent day with Ubisoft checking out POP, End War and Fra Cry 2. And if you've ever thought Far Cry 2 was just hovering on your radar, when you see it, it will pblip straight off it.

From the build I saw and with the great (read lengthy) private discussions and our "official" interviews I had with Louis-Pierre Pharand - Producer and Clint Hocking: Creative Director, you are going to be suitably blown away to the attention to detail, and she...

12/10 mate.

Many of the comments that find fault with someone "picking" on "their" game do come from a disgruntled number of Sony supporters who solidly believe a developer should NEVER cross the fence, no matter what.

Even IF their company is loosing money, even if their favoured developers is not selling the numbers needed to support the HUGE financial outlay they now incur with development of games that the fans DEMAND. Those developer should ...

I'm just looking for the game period. Even without the silliness etc.

I'm not sure if I'm that keen on the VAT's system though, prefer my shooters to be - well - you know, shooters. Quick aim, shot and kill the buggers.

Not select area, decide which one you want, which one has most points, aim, shot, oh dear, he's not dead, do it again . .etc etc.

Give me Bang and you're dead any day.

But other than that, this game is sure to be sitting in ...
