Really, how many developers do you hear say "It's too much work" and still respect them afterwards? Weakest excuse I've ever heard. The amount of work is worth the sales it will draw.
Even if there are differences between the beta and the demo, the demo being much closer to the finished product. So hold your comparisons until we get our hands on the PS3 demo.
This is the first time I've read an ESRB description that actively made an opinion about a game..
I can't stand him because he just makes stuff up. And half the time they aren't predictions, they're just plain wrong. So, I don't really consider him a part of gaming journalism, much like I wouldn't some random blog.
I don't think the game deserves to be called a failure at all, but I definitely agree with most of his points. At least what he felt was wrong with the game, but not necessarily his ideas to fix it.
He missed a few things that bothered me about the game, specifically about how most conversations you have are interrogations. You always go for "Investigate" and get every bit of conversation they're willing to give up. I guess the most of the conversations seem a bit one-s...
If they reduce the price by at minimum 50$ and allow you to download UMDs you own, I'd consider buying it. Going all digital was a mistake for an already established platform, this would have worked better if it were the PSP2.
Also, a second thumbstick would be nice.. I'd consider getting one for that feature alone.
Another brilliant article by Destructoid Scribe Jim Sterling, the PS3 hater.
Seriously this guy's articles are always a joke, journalistic integrity be damned I guess.
PS3 and 360 have the same amount of total memory, both being 512MB. More cores, more RAM and faster blu-ray drive would have driven the costs up even more. The fact that all PS3's have a harddrive makes up for the slow blu-ray drive, anyway.
SOAD, you make it sound as if it's a bad thing that AI and Physics are offloaded to the Cell? Hell, I can't think of many games that use the videocard to perform AI functions.
Physics was typically done by general purpose CPUs on the PC, until recently. With floating point powerhouses like the Cell processor, I think it works out nicely. The RSX may be weaker than the Xenos but the Cell more than makes up for it.
Also, keep in mind that the 360 has 512MB and also spl...
To each their own, I can't find another shooter that complements my playstyle like Crysis and Far Cry 1 did.
The reason PSN didn't have a major overhaul was because it didn't need one like the 360 did. The XMB is perfect as it is, although I agree it could use many convenience functions (such as when you receive notifications and press the PS button, you will be sent to the section where that notification was relevant). I'm always for convenience functions like that.
There are trophy comparisons, you can also do them on the PC if you'd like, but all you have to do to compare trophies w...
I saw some noticeable lag in the GT videos, but it was only one or two spikes, nothing permanent.
Tip for you guys: hit the little ignore link below lowcarb's avatar, then you don't have to read his idiotic posts :)
On topic, they've said its the same engine, and it is. It's just that multiplatform engines have multiple streams, 1 for each platform. So yeah the code is probably different, to support each platform, but its all under the same engine. I think the guy they are interviewing is not aware of the technical aspects of it, or it sounds simpler to say its a different en...
I think the bigger hint is:
THESE GAMES STILL SELL REMAKE THE GODDAMN GAMES ALREADY
I can't justify spending 60$ on an MP only game (MAG) so I'll probably skip that one until it is cheaper, and I'll definitely pick up BC2.
PS3 beta used a different level so I guess it would be hard to compare. Demo for PS3 should be out within a week or so though.
I agree with ico92, PS3 has a pretty diverse audience, so games that would be huge if they were 360 hits don't sell as much/as quickly. The exception will probably be GT5. But this isn't really an issue because only a handful of games get these ridiculous sales figures. Selling a million or two is still very profitable.
I think we can all agree that HHG is either a moron or is trying to start a flame war to grab hits. He's always making stuff up, how about we stop approving these videos until he starts being a little more factual.

You know what's great VanHalen? Playing ME2 at 1920x1080, without scaling. Also, only idiots spend 1000's of dollars building PC's. You could easily spend under a grand and have an incredibly powerful PC. Funny thing is people rarely build PCs just to play games. I mean, are you commenting from a console right now?
The 360 isn't more aliased, they both do not have AA enabled. Equally jagged.
But yeah, contrast/brightness differences due to OpenGL and DirectX lighting.
