Not to mention the issue of cut content. Whether it's a fighting game's characters and skins, or a racing title's car selection you're often left wondering whether they just axed half the stuff and decided to charge you for it later.
Definitely killing them myself but I do like games such as State of Decay where stealth is a critical part of the game. This excites me because it shows a lot of thought about the design, and also a willingness to utilize zombies in more than just a cannon fodder role.
Plus as fun as it is to slaughter hordes endlessly like Dead Rising I think it dilutes the whole idea of an endless horde. I mean would you really bother even firing a pistol with 20 rounds into a horde that...
That's true - but the platforming suffered in the sense judging jumps was sometimes hit and miss. First person perspective loses a lot of detail that is other wise present to us in real life in terms of basic kinetic and haptic feedback from our body. Your whole body knows what to do as soon as one toe begins to slip off a step but in a game you have no indication of this unless it's third person. Still - I think a clever UI could supplement it all and it would be nice because third p...
A game needs a storyline like Bioshock's to really justify a linear experience nowadays so I think open world is the healthiest direction a series can take. But saying that there was a LOT wrong with mirror's edge. The platforming was far from perfect, the storyline was laughable, as was the voice acting, the combat was abysmal and as time went on the pacing just got worse and worse. Not to mention while the art style was brilliant it was also pretty static - I think the best deviatio...
If you call pleasing long term fans overkill....
Valve uses a structure-less system to run their company. People just work on what they want to - it's not an issue of them being busy, but is simply an issue of communication. Somebody had too much of a hard-on for the next big thing to place attention on DOTA 2 - frankly I'm concerned this is a big problem overall for Valve. The bulk of their success stories occurred before their 'flatland' system took off. For traditional titles like Half life their tight lipped approach wor...
Valve's silence across the board can be quite frustrating. Never really gave a shit about mp-only games (RIP UT and q3a). I give even less of a shit about free to play games and personally I feel as though valve should physically insert each and every damn hat up their ass. I love them, and their games, so much but if they tell is that their next game is something stupid like a free to play game based on a german rogue like made in 1979 I'm gonna lose my shit.
Half li...
Yeah I know how you feel. Still few weeks isn't that big a deal to get it on our platform. Not to mention this was such an inevitability given Ubisoft's policy of "PC version? Yeah that's on it's way but it needs some time. Let's see how close to the console release date we can get before we let them know".
Jesus Christ just read the fucking article before mouthing off. The asset was taken directly from killing floor and sold on unity by some unscrupulous douche. Tripwire alerted 7 days dev that it was a stolen asset and did not belong to the artist they bought it off. Whatever story of "killing floor dev thinks a zombie in one game looks a bit like a zombie in their game and is now suing" is little more than the product of what I have to assume is stupidity and pure imagination. 7days...
Might wanna look into terraforming and actual city sized cities. But seriously, too little too late. Btw what part of not targeting your target audience (fans of sim city) failing surprised you guys?
Competition is good but Ubisoft are a massive pain in the ass for simply layering their proprietary software over Steam's, which in turn usually has the developer's proprietary software also laid on top of it. By the time you get to a game half your computing power is going on ridiculously shiny, poorly optimized, and desperately unwanted software. Furthermore Ubisoft, and to an extent Origin although in fairness that has opened up somewhat, simply do not understand that Steam sales s...
My scrotum twists with anticipation - the future of the city builder MMO hybrid that NOBODY asked for may be on its way? How will I survive under such duress....
In all seriousness this sort of bullshit - e.g. "in three weeks we're gonna tweet the date that we play a trailer that'll confirm the existence of another trailer that'll confirm a game we've been working on for barely three months so sorry no actual gameplay footage of any kind" - only real...
On the ball there - there's the little part where the brain and consciousness need to be understood first before we start manipulating either with a USB slot in the back of our necks. Congratulations to them on the cool glasses and everything but this is a level of zeal which just makes him look like a fool.
I think f2p for MMO's and MOBA's or generally any sort of mp-centric game are doing very well, and to that extent they prove the model's validity and there's very little anyone can say about that. However f2p titles are often appearing at the expense of more conventional titles from more conventional developers. Fear online? No thanks. Survarium which is basically stalker without A-life and filled with other humans? (its not like stalker relied on atmospheric isolation or anyt...
"Too many games have you playing the role of a soldier, or a space marine, or some variation on that theme, running down hallways and shooting enemies in an extreme form of A to B running"
Everyone says this but what was the last major sci fi shooter that was AAA in scope and sales? Halo maybe? Yeah it's nice and easy to rag on games like Call of Duty while forgetting Far Cry 3 but if all we want to do is hide in nostalgia and hiss at only the BAD fps' while...
No seriously what do they have to add? A model and animations? What "technical" limitations are there? This is just utter nonsense.
Microsoft is like a stalker. There's a lack of intelligence, usually a sad miserable little sociopath who obsesses over more than one girl due to serious attention deficits. Cycling between objectives it flaunts crap like Outlook or Windows 8 and other abominations hoping we'll like it when all we want is for it to go away and leave us alone in our secure and happy relationship with Steam.
"Errr, yeah Microsoft. This is... this is nice. Windows 8, it looks nice....
I play solo all the time and I have never been a loaner. I refuse to lend money to anyone.
On a related note - for those of us whose friends don't own every console ever, or for those of us who just choose to not play with others, I think it's fair to say bl2 takes a major drop in quality and it's less "playing the game wrong" and more "masks flaws with multiplayer". The DLC was awful, they've blatantly lied about things like level cap cla...
Nothing captures the feeling of stalker. It's unrivaled and while survarium looks interesting it doesn't have A-life and for me that's what made stalker unique.
No other game has had me walk down a road and wonder "are those dogs hungry? Cause if they are they may ha... oh no wait there's a pig's corpse by one of them. They're clearly fresh after a hunt so no need to be too concerned."
On the article: It's a nice attempt...
Would it be inappropriate to buy this for a newborn who's father grew up on Doom? Or would it just scare the shit out of the child?
If not I'll have it quite happily!
