I'd be pretty pissed if I backed this. He seems to mention the promised extras as a real problem but to me putting it on hold after having gone through funds seems like a real mismanagement of peoples' time and investment. He doesn't technically owe them anything, and you acknowledge all these risks as a backer beforehand, but there is still an element of trust and I can't help but feel it's been mishandled here.
Honestly, hundreds of people have probably worked on this title and I find it a little tragic that out of a game designed to spark so much debate people are still focusing on the piece of paper it comes wrapped in. This whole article, as an examination of the resultant hypocrisy which emerges from the interaction of industrial needs vs. creative needs would be fascinating... unfortunately it's no such thing. It just lumps the whole damn farce at the games feet like Songbird himself should...
It's to do with the technical challenge more than anything else. No one seriously expects to be rocking the last of us or Uncharted 3 on their home PC anytime soon. But once all support for the system is dead, when no one stocks the games, we're all on the ps8, and everyone's calling Uncharted 3 a retro early millenial shooter it's pretty much only these guys who'll give a shit.
It takes a lot of work to lay down these sorts of achievements, and it means ...
Kinda funny, bit short. Not entirely sure what the article is saying. Are we meant to laugh at millenials, or the old people who bitch about them?
Also, it's a bit self-pitiful to pick on the millenials. It's so easy and so fun to look Justin Bieber and call him a spaz but since the dawn of time older generations have hated the younger ones. Save yourself the time... don't buy into it. We've all seen this shit happen before from Tina Turner blowing a microphon...
I love the look of this - actually pretty excited to see what they can do. Might even make a backer out of me, especially since they're promising a very near future PC release if they get funding.
There must be a billion minecraft and dayz clones, and for every CoD there's a homefront or a medal of honor, but if I wanna play a game where I can swing from mast to mast being a bad motherfuckin' pirate then I have to turn to assassin's creed!? Loved the fourth game and I would never expect them to derail a franchise just 'cause... but the fact that there must be so many developers out there right now thinking about how their voxel based world building zombie killing MMO (p...
If AI had the same attention graphics have had then we'd probably be playing against HAL. Still - I'd settle for AI that uses some common sense. Whether it's a guard riddled with arrows drinking their mead in Skyrim or people on top secret missions in assassin's creed IV noticing that they're being followed by a guy in a hood, and being totally okay that he's just skulked into a bush.
Sometimes I feel less like a top of the line killer in games and mor...
It would seem as though he's saying that titanfall will use bullet path prediction (like CoD) and a consequence of this is wanted style kills - exactly as you describe.
Personally I prefer games that model velocity, drop etc. He doesn't give an explicit reason why this won't work on smaller maps, just why it works on bigger maps.
Huh? I remember sending one email about my preorder of fallout new vegas, clarifying I fancied getting myself a special edition with lots of goodies, and within fifteen minutes it'd been refunded without a single issue. I'm sure you can refund preorders and have been able to for a while.
Edit: ah I see. They've put a dedicated button in. Isn't really news though is it?
In my day to day life I often get caught out by these types of naming over laps. I didn't understand Skyrim at all. No sense of immersion - just a bunch of cards that you collect until I realized how silly I was being. I had mistaken Mojang's scrolls for Elder Scrolls.... 5. And then last night I went to boot up DayZ and spent hours then trawling a bug thread because all that was happening was I was getting sound but no picture. Over and over I kept clicking the icon and until again! ...
Tbh they're probably just too busy rolling around in piles of money to give a crap about much else. I think it'd be great if maybe a meme started from this since viral marketing can be these guys' nightmare as much as it can be their saviour. Maybe if everyone just started using Candy Crush Saga as a shorthand for being abused as a child - nothing complex just an everyday switch around. If you wanna discuss all the prolific sex crimes by famous figures in the UK such as Roache, Tr...
C'mon I love the freakin' game but they released the damn dev version with cheat shortcuts and all. The title was hardly bug free on release.
Didn't matter they went too long without consistent revenue. Blood Money was a big deal and the size of the workforce on a title like that suddenly being deprived on reasonable income for the length of time it took K&L to become established as a seriously bad idea meant serious layoffs. Hitman Absolution also took a few wrong steps. It should have come out kicking and screaming with demonstrations of huge levels, clever AI, player freedom and inventive kills. Instead it put all its be...
My building's shadow stretching across the blocky landscape as the sun sets seems pretty cool to me, but I'd rather stay away from grey and unhappy colour palettes as seen in many of the photorealistic texture packs. I've enjoyed the shader mod before but unfortunately it's out of date at the moment, and just as it will get updated so will MC so be prepared to play a little behind the patch curve if you want to use these.
Maybe not Persia but feudal Japan would be great.
That's what trolls tell themselves but honestly I hope they all choke to death on each others micro-cocks. This guy included. It's like if the graffiti on a bathroom stall had a $1 coin slot if you wanted to write something. At best it's a tax on the retarded.
Looks awesome
I really enjoyed this list. I didn't agree with GTA V but I thought the author of that entry raised good points. Some of the missions were poorly paced and I can certainly see why some fans were left disappointed.
Wolfenstein was a big disappointment but like one of the authors points out you need to invest in something for it to be a true disappointment and I just didn't invest in this title. It just looked cookie cutter from the start. I think they were afraid to do...
I still think Doom just has the best feel of any fps to date. Blasting an imp in the face with a shotgun has never felt quite as right.
Riptide had a different development team behind it and I think it was a situation where the publisher, seeking a way to finance a real sequel, had a satellite studio pump out a pseudo follow up to the original. Techland have mentioned some rights issues affecting their ability to make "Dead Island 2" as well, and if you ask me, dying light was clearly meant to be the real sequel. To that extent I think the case is still open as to whether Techland learnt their lesson.
