No but normally a good opinion or argument should at least be a) worth reading, and b) grounded and objective. This is neither. Even a good rant should at least be funny.

Not to mention the needless fanboy baiting it results in. It's like a bunch of kids at McDonalds going apeshit crazy over how their burger is the best burger in the world. It doesn't matter if one of them go on to write a freaking thesis on the subject it doesn't really change the inanity of the ...

The author makes the point that this article is little more than a rant. It is little more than opinion. The computer that I own, the mods that I can download for free, the astounding graphics, innovative indie market and the many many many features of steam not to mention the games I buy on it at a fraction of full price, are all facts. I'm not going to bash consoles though because I'm not so astoundingly stupid that I think that my experience of them matters as an authority, or even...

To be fair dishonored and fallout new vegas are pretty good third party entries (even though fallout new vegas was actually made by most of the people who made the first two - which is ironic that they're now third party for the franchise) and also I'd much rather a publisher who puts faith in crazy ideas like a free-running multiplayer class based super customizable game than EA who actually has the opposite effect - taking good franchises and rendering them soul-less shells of their...

"iPods are great!" - Steve Jobs.

Seriously this is basically what this article is reporting. I'm not shocked EA's president thinks frostbite 2 is just swell. Thing is though, as the arguments above prove, there are a LOT of games (cryengine 3 would have been my contender with the procedural tesselation) that look good. We live in an age where I can download a film in 5 minutes and quake 3 runs in a browser - graphics in games kick ass all over the place and ...

Yeah didn't someone just manage to program an AI for UE3 that beat the turing test? I mean THAT'S impressive.

Is it me or is the giant worm at the end a huge reference to the tongues of the tremors monster?

Yeah - this is where bethesda need to pick it up. They've nailed so much but I'm tired of not having an impact on the world. The lore of elder scrolls is "Incredibly important things are happening and then suddenly a guy appears, does absolutely fucking EVERYTHING that needed to be done for everyone in the country before then disappearing. Life continues as normal until it'll happen again."

Seriously the plot of oblivion doesn't even put the player a...

Project zomboid pretty much has everything I ever wanted from a zombie game with the exception of a possible difficulty curve. I guess my ideal zombie game would be if stalker had babies with Romero but project zomboid is still a kick ass entry. By far the closest to an actual zombie game I've played - not a conversation simulator or a monster mash or a puzzle game with zombies or a shooter with zombies or a third person beat em up with zombies.

What I hate so much about...

It's good that a sequel isn't immediately obvious simply because of success. I like that to them the idea of beating something to death just because it works isn't the reason they're making games and that's great - the problem is that I really like Dunwall. As a game setting it's awesome and I'd hate not to see more of the different cities and other nations. Personally I'd just as happily see the setting open up to other genres or entries. You can revisit a wor...

Yeah AI, can be a right mix. I've had one walk past me hidded behind a lampshade but notice a damn corpse on a window ledge with x-ray vision.

But despite this the game does kick ass. I wish AI was a little bit more weary of you, and a little less weary of corpses I've hidden ontop of ventilation shafts 6ft above their head though. The leaning cover isn't brilliantly established that's why it's so easy to make the mistake of getting noticed too. There sho...

Sincerely hope not. Everyone keeps telling me they're getting bigger and bigger but not a single one has blipped on my radar as of yet. Lots of games I'm looking forward to, far and near, including indie ones like Jonathon Blow's next game or Notch's - but not a damn single freemium one is on there. Quake live came close but it's just quake 3 and that's always been kicking around.

I'd rather buy a new IP in a late generation than buy the beaten and broken corpse of a well worn one.

She seemed pretty cool with the whole affair and took it with a sense of humour whilst not underpinning the serious issue of gender attitudes. She was spot on and I enjoyed the article and look forward to the game. My girlfriend has particular trouble since she doesn't have a very quick pc and I've noticed quite a bit of trouble with framerate affecting her accuracy. This could really be helpful for her.

But on another note - just chill out. I wish people would stop ...

Great article - really well written and makes a great point. I enjoyed it. It was novel, synthesized a great analogy, examined real life examples of language and industry presences and made a pretty convincing argument.

On the point of which - damn I wish they'd stop. It's not necessary and dead space 3 will struggle to make the sales they've mentioned. Companies that succumb to much to the industry part of "games industry" often take hidings. In partic...

Probably the review I agree with least - still he makes some very valid points. (I would have annihilated Wilhelm no matter what character the game says I'm playing with so I found that a bit peculiar).

Even now you're missing the point.

Firstly Bethesda studios made The Elder Scrolls. It was bought by Zenimax at a later date, a studio that deals in comics, movies, and other creative mediums. Zenimax has since spent its time acquiring other companies under the brand of "bethesda" because it's much more PR friendly to make an acquisition look like Luke Skywalker meeting Yoda when in reality it's more like a guy putting a bet on a dog before a race. (Yeah...

Arkane studios? They've made two other games and they were Arx Fatalis and Dark Messiah. Don't really see what about those inspires hatred? Or are people so stupid they genuinely expect corporate level decisions like stock purchases to somehow reflect a relationship between them and the publisher. As to somehow, idiotically, suggest that the appropriate way to punish a publisher is to screw the company under them.

Bethesda released a buggy game, but even though they&...
