It's great to see modders pushing the boundaries to a level that keeps the industry on its toes.

Under rated!? It won game of the year and is considered the pinnacle of the franchise. Will games journalists stop clamouring for complete and utter shit to talk about.

I'm tired of hearing that pc gaming is dying, there are too many first person shooters, what went wrong with duke nukem, why people need to play game X, how piracy is good/bad, why used sales are good/bad, what gta V needs, why gta IV looks incredible with this mod, what games look better than crysis 2, wh...

I don't even know if Duke Nukem has a place any more. Half life has pretty much rendered him redundant. Had DNF released in the early 2000's it would have probably made some splash but nowadays everything that made DN3D special (interactive environment, spectacle in the level design and relatively large maps) have become staples in the industry.

It's a shame because Duke Nukem had a feeling, a sort of atmosphere, that I associate with... well with fucking awesome...

Rage isn't bethesda's shooter... the people who sit at computers and make elder scrolls are in a different state to the people who sit behind computers and make Rage. Also bethesda don't own id. Zenimax own id. And they also own bethesda. Zenimax just sticks to using bethesda as a publishing title because bethesda has a strong reputation in the industry.

But all in all that's a harmless mistake that I'll let slide. Constantly comparing Rage to fallout 3 is...

It's cool to see the specific parallels but it's not that big of a surprise that they relate to real life cultures.

left4dead is a great example of a singleplayer like experience in a multiplayer template.

But honestly I'm not sure I want the same people who tea bag me to play a major role in my single player experience.

AA had dozens of boss fights. The only difference now is that AC's boss fights arent repeats of venom thugs. There actually legitimate villains of the mythology.

I literally can not see how it can fail.

This article fails mostly because it's applying movie logic to video games. Yeah when you ram thirty villains in a three hour movie it'll suck. But the whole idea of an open world game is you take it at your pace. It's like a thirty hour exper...

It doesn't count if those eyes are hidden within the uncanny valley.

I've never felt the urge to be violent as a result of playing video games.

On the other hand oasis just came on in my car radio and I did feel the most peculiar urge to sweep the pavement killing as many people as possible and myself.

And now Noel Gallagher has just opened his mouth and, once more, all I want to do is punch him in the fucking face.

Pachter has utterly destroyed my faith in 'analysts'.

Eurgh. You know what... no. I don't give a crap how God damn dedicated the original fanbase was, I don't give a crap how cool Dota was in its time and I don't give a god damned fuck whether this game is even good or not because it's not half life 3.

That's it. I'm not doing this anymore. I know valve are brilliant and when they fart they fart pixie dust that lets you fly if you think happy thoughts... but that's it! I'm done indulging valve'...

The whole idea of episodic gaming and steady upgrades to a forever improving engine is decreased development times, so... where the fuck is episode 3?

Steam is so far the only multiplayer service that doesn't have a bloody aneurism if I haven't forwarded my ports. It's nice to have a service that takes the "eurgh" out of multiplayer gaming on PC, giving us features like lobbies and a centralized friends system.

So this is a nice touch and is a very smart move by id software. I hope that this is a president for their parent company (bethesda) which will result in further titles like skyrim using steamw...

If it was lost then trust me... the guys who made amnesia have stumbled across it again and are shoveling it into their games in the bucket load.

*shudders*

Maybe I'm just a big girl but that game scares the shit out of me.

That's if you blast through it end to end. Any one can speed run the damn game in no time. I'm just saying if you want to sit down and play the thing in a single afternoon then a) good luck and b) you're not getting a tenth of the full experience.

Id recommend to any one who like this game that they give sikkmod a go. Really brings the game a few years up to date.

Overall I enjoyed doom 3. It had great combat and was a spectacularly sculpted experience. Yeah it got a little repetitive towards the end but I replayed it recently and I really appreciated playing a game that lasted longer than four hours. It's a good twenty-thirty hour single player experience. You rarely see that nowadays unless it's open world or...

Interesting.

The indie market is pretty flooded with brainteasers though. It's usually the more artistically geared games like braid, limbo and bastion that stick out amidst it all.

Still as someone who lives in South Wales I can't help but wish them the best of luck.

It can't be easy starting a company from scratch. And work experience isn't exactly an easy to thing to acquire considering there are like three games develop...

And my dog is prettier than a rotting corpse, it doesn't mean I'm taking him to dinner anytime soon. Most Facebook gamers arent that engaged so comparing yourself with them is a tad redundant.

Games need to learn the 80/20 rule. 80% of the product is bought by 20% of the consumers. Stop worrying about selling games to the casuals because the casuals won't be half as comitted to buying games as a hardcore gamer, even if they do outnumber us by a shitload.

This is a bit redundant :/ since when do you get a new game and not play it? I mean not even boot it up just to check it out!? For those fleeting few games that remain forever unplanned i guess this is pretty cool. But in practical terms who buys a steam game and never plays it at all?

Even with gifts - most of the time you need to play it because the people who gift it in all likelihood are familiar with steam and have you as a friend, therefore you need to look like you at...

Bastards! I always knew it but to have it thrown in my face!

But on a serious note I'd like to know the reasoning behind this. It's not like anyone's gonna go,

"wow am I excited for rage! Oh wait, what's this!? Doom 4! Fantastic i love doom. But alas between late 2011 and when doom 4 gets released in 2013 I'll only be in possession of exactly 39.99. Damn! I must choose between the two and it's clearly doom!".
