While I loath CoD I can't help but be endeared by this guy's seeming change of pace to Kotick. While I have no doubt he's a business man who's here to make money it's interesting to note that his primary concern was the core fanbase as opposed to the usual "as many freaking people as we can get this to".
Despite being aware 75% of the consumer base for CoD probably had no idea about the leak he still felt like action needed to be taken for the o...
Different markets with different appeals and different sizes. Shooters and survival horrors do not mix and just because A sells more than B doesn't mean it's smarter to convert to A if you're selling B. This logic is like saying "car's sell more units than motor bikes, so our next motor bike will have four wheels to attract the car-minded consumers".
You should just try to sell to your market and sell well rather than getting concerned with one time ...
I don't view it as an issue of sexism - I just think that a couple of extra body types wouldn't hurt, especially for realism. If you're going to spend 4 years crafting a world why not put a month in and make some differenty body types.
But like you said mods will be all over this so it's not really a problem.
I think Skyrim suffers in realism from the lack of varied models. If life in Skyrim is meant to ape the life of medieval times then there should be skinny little emaciated dweebs and pot bellied nobles laughing at the poor people. I'd like to feel like everyone I meet isn't built like an athlete.
This isn't a case of fat people (and boy is it really nice to talk about over weight people like they're freaks because aren't we all just so freaking perfect) no...
Great mod and hopefully a great game. I hope they expand the dynamic of the gameplay a bit more - I'm not asking for a hud and a shotgun but I'd like to see something with more presence than before. Couple of cave paintings and haunting music - despite being terrifying - didn't seem visceral enough in my opinion. Again I'm not asking for a shotgun and a hud, but I would like to feel like there's something happening.
"not out of hate but as a shortcut to make its world more believable"
It's not really a 'shortcut' it's just a facet of existence they've not ignored. We've had millenia of slaughter and genocide over having different coloured skin, so what would a freaking horn sprouting out of someone's head do for us eh?
While I find the article interesting I do think referring to the implementation of racism as a "shortcut"...
They might as well just link the game's website to pirate bay or a skidrow site. 3 hardware changes? Pfft you wanna bet ubisoft? How about as many as I damn well feel like and if I want I'll play the damn thing in a closet with no internet connection. I mean if you WANT me to use a crack then I guess I'll just have to.
Oh well that's another game that's been painlessly euthanized by origin. I'm not buying or touching this which is a shame because it looked good but if someone behind the helm of this thing is so damn stupid they think origin is A-okay then I feel no sympathy for them.
They might as well have just released the demo with a free helping of anthrax.
*vomits*
You're fucking kidding me right?
A) the military is hardly a refuge for homosexuals.
B) people use the idea of getting sodomized as a bad thing in our modern culture. It's a part of our societ and it's not going anywhere.
C) if you take yourself so seriously you think you can get away with writing "so he uses the metaphor of anal sex to indicate he's being attacked and needs help" as a legitimate analysis of dialog ...
Well make the bloody game!!I don't think it's much to ask for closure on a narrative arc we've all been following closely for a bloody decade.. Seriously make the god damn game! All the rumours arent for fun ya know, we don't get off on being disappointed! It's because we're excited and sure as hell wouldn't mind getting out hands on it
Sweet!
Called it - it's been in the bloody game menu since launch anyway. Just check under extras. Kind of makes you wonder why they're even 'announcing' it at all.
They never created false expectations, they just wanted to make a game with lots to do. I didn't see the word 'rpg' appear once in their entire marketting and I actually remember numerous interviews where great emphasis was put on the fact that Rage is a linear game.
I mean how DARE id software try something new whilst daring to assume that their consumers are smart enough to tell the difference between an rpg and a liner shooter. You're right, next time they...
What I love most about this comment is that it's been edited without any adjustment to 'morely'.
I think no one should buy THQ. I think the damn thing should crash and burn due to being poorly mismanaged. This economy is built on people taking falls and the more and more we afford idiots second chances the more we're taking away from newcomers. Who knows maybe a disgrunted talented programmer from THQ will be so tired of the bureaucracy they'll go elsewhe...
THQ has been struggling for a while. Not hard to see why, as a publisher their motto might as well be "We'll settle for less". They bent over backwards to publish homefront and make a modern shooter but they shouldn't have focussed on pushing into a crowded market. Their specialty has always been B-games that have a dedicated fanbase but recently they've been trying to squeeze into the triple AAA market with saints row, metro, homefront and red faction and as great as so...
Rage had it's short comings but it wasn't a bloody rpg-shooter and putting it in the category of fallout 3 isn't really fair. It was a linear game in an open setting not an rpg.
Either freakin' way I'm happy.
This is really good news. I hope stalker 2 sees a smoother development cycle after this. The first wasn't exactly bump free so I think they deserve a break this one.
Plus this game is going to be freakin' sweet.
Wow, destructoid - a place where people are literally fucking paid to voice their opinion on games - are getting high and mighty about people voicing their opinion on games.
