Nah it benefits devs because they aren't wasting millions and millions on months of optimizing the content or removing content (i.e., Borderlands, Battlefield 3, RAGE, etc.,) in order to run on current gen consoles.
I'd rather $20 mil be spent on adding content to a game not removing it so that it runs at 30fps. Imagine how much money EA and DICE could have saved if they didn't have to downgrade Battlefield 3 but released it the same across all three platforms?
Totally agreed.
It's also financial suicide to release GTA V two months after Max Payne 3. That's completely idiotic especially considering that they cater to the exact same demographic.
No, I suspect they'll space out GTA V quite a bit so that they can milk MP3 of any DLC and whatnot. Only an idiot would release two AAA games within a two month span.
I just wanted to add that MacNasty's comment is right on.
I know a lot of 14 year old N4G trolls would rather hump hookers and kill them in the back of a police car but I liked that they took a more mature approach with GTA IV. It's an exceptionally well-made game with a gritty and engaging atmosphere.
That's not to mention that anything worth complaining about in the main game was easily and effectively remedied with the DLC, which I thought wa...
I think a lot of fanboys don't want new consoles because they're attached to them like babies on teets (or men on teets, either way).
But the truth is gaming is moving forward but the console hardware hasn't. I'm glad Nintendo has taken steps to kick the bucket over and pull their head out of the arse of the casual horse, and they seem to want to ride that horse to core victory.
I agree with you that Sony is just playing mum's the word f...
I like console gaming but I'm sorry I just can't keep playing "new" games on the old consoles while I have an up-to-date PC. I can literally see the six year difference between 360 titles and PC titles.
It's not even like it's just a "graphics" thing it's a gameplay thing. I want games with more destructibility and physics options not less. When I played Vindictus it was a real eye-opener of just how outdated console games have become.....
No, it's a question of money. MS even admitted half the people who bought a 360 owned a PS2 before that NOT an Xbox. Many of the Xbox 1 owners were not first-adopters of the Xbox 360, despite popular belief that MS fanboys helped spur the growth of the 360.
The reality is that as long as the 360/XBL keep making MS money they'll keep supporting it. Heck, they'll probably even have back-ports of Xbox 720 games on the 360 if they think they can trickle in a couple mi...
That's why a lot of those numbskull "journalists" weren't ragging on 2K for their FPS reboot. Half those little kiddies never played the original X-Com and that's why they didn't have a problem with that software abortion XCOM.
I imagine Enemy Unknown needs to make heavy use of current-day physics middleware because ultimately the turn-based mechanics would rock with a lot of fancy destructibility.
@smithdown
Out of date is an understatement. Most of American TV is all about sex, affairs, adultery, etc., violence has been pushed out the window a long time ago. I used to get a good action-thriller fix with 24 but they cancelled that. Cable TV is kind of anyone's game so I don't count that but even then it's not like there's a ton of action shows on TV like there was during the 80s and early-mid 90s.
Even with movies it's hard to find...
So ultimately you're siding with a company who was stupid enough to waste money on proving a point about sexual hypocrisy? That's the dumbest thing I've come across in the last three days on the internet...and the internet is full of dumb stuff.
As a big fighting fan this kind of advertising did nothing to make me want to buy the game. Heck, even 505 knew how to get controversial while keeping the promotion for Supremacy MMA within context of the game's fighti...
I don't know who agreed with you but they must be brain dead.
Last time I checked I pick up fightings game based on promotional ads that make it look fun (i.e., SSF IV), not because some tits fell out or a schlong slapped me in the face.
There's p0rn for that, thank you very much.
The game is rated Teen...what's up with you people and America and violence? I'm sorry but just about every anime I've seen was way more violent than the standard American action film...Gantz, anyone?
Not counting drudge like Hostel and SAW, most Americanized violence is pretty tame, they even replaced squibs with digital blood so it looks giggle-worthy and fake. I'm not sure where you get this American = Violence from but it comes off as childish and uninform...
Man you just reminded me why I loved the PS2/Xbox era so much.
Dude, X-Com is available for dirt-cheap and can run on any PC made after 1992. There's really no reason not to at least give the game a try.
Personally, I think X-Com: Apocalypse probably has gameplay that will make it easier for new-school gamers to transition into playing the game, given that the original X-Com can be overwhelming for people who aren't used to having so much control in a video game.
I can't disagree with him, though, because X-Com nearly had infinite replyability.
If I had to choose, I would go with a proper X-Com update with a larger variety of weapons, armor, research and consequences. But X-Com has always been one of my favorite games, something many new-school gamers don't really appreciate about the golden era.
Ohhhh, zing!
Well played, sir.
Bubbles to you.
Dude, you need to get with the times.
MS and Sony could go the cheap route and here's how:
Upgraded CELL processor for Sony with fewer SPUs but better multithreaded access to dedicated memory.
SLI GPUs from Nvidia, like two 5xx cards for the PS4 or quad 4xx cards which would make the system dirt cheap and practically future-proof the graphics option with a massive amount of VRAM.
6GB of dedicated system RAM.
...
I completely understand your situation, man.
I'm a little excited about both new consoles but not excited enough to splurge on them. I'm also going to wait until mid 2012 to upgrade my video card again.
Looking at all the awesome features for stuff like the Super OC 580GTX and whatever can drive a person insane with want and desire.
GirlyGamer doesn't necessitate that it's a girl gamer (or even a female) just that said gamer is quite girly.
I'll correct the statement for you:
You're prob not Jacob Alba either.
Only problem is I don't know who Jacob Alba is.
@mparful99 you can vote sites down if you don't like them. Democracy still works...sort of.
They just need to bring the analog hotdogs closer to the tablet and it'll be all set.
Touch-screen feels impossible to use for core gamers. It works fine if you're playing "kitchen" games, though.
