Don't you mean "Hold The Wallet"?

You mean CoD fused with APB? Um, no thanks we have CoD and APB for that.

Kickstarter is for games WE DON'T already have a dime a dozen.

EXACTLY.

You hit the nail on the had Hicken.

The value of games have dropped despite some of the prices being the same, or cheaper or more expensive.

Hands down WWF No Mercy runs circles around alot of wrestling and fighting games today (with the exception of Tekken, which seems to keep pushing the boundaries on the amount of content Namco can squeeze out of each game). Super Mario 64 is still a heck of a lot of fun and offers up tons of rep...

Part of development costs went up this gen, but tools quickly became cheap especially after Epic released the UDK, which dropped development costs considerably (try tens of millions considerably).

I don't completely agree on all your points but you're right about cartidges costing more...(N64 carts were $24 to produce, where as Sony paid $0.03 per CD) so Nintendo had to sell much higher to recoup funds.

Oh yeah, and you're also right about some ga...

Okay yeah, he is incredibly annoying. And who is Perez Hilton?

5039d ago 0 agree0 disagreeView comment

Why? Because he makes the shills uncomfortable? Nah, I'd rather put up with douchiness than corporate apologists paid to be apologists.

"purchasing a game doesn ot entitle you to experience every idea the developer had during the development cycle"

No spit, Sherlock.

No one is saying everything a dev comes up with needs to make it onto the disc. But IF THE CONTENT IS COMPLETE AND ON THE DISC IT SHOULD BE ACCESSIBLE WITHIN THE PURCHASING PRICE.

In the STreet Fighter x Tekken case that game was not worth $60. It would have been had it included the 50 characters, two ...

YES! Thank You! I'm no fan of Jim STerling, he's a bit too much of that new-school douchery generation, but I agree that there is no justification for on-disc DLC. If it's finished content it should be in the finished product. Anyone who disagrees either doesn't pay for their own games, isn't a real gamer or worse yet, a corporate shill.

I beat Portal in 3 hours. Most of it is teaching you how to play. Once you figure out the basic principals (and physics limitations) it's almost like playing through a very elementary, visually exciting math problem.

The game sort of presents itself as one physics-conundrum after another with a set of parameters and a basic equation to work on. No moral dilemmas, no dialogue trees, no consequences. So Portal was very easy for me and a lot of other people who picked it up...

Well said. There are rare exceptions like Uncharted and Portal (but Portal didn't launch at $60 did it?) but for the most part outside of Uncharted there are NO six hour games I would ever go back and play, EVER.

Games like STALKER, Mount & Blade, Grand Theft Auto, Elder Scrolls, Baldur's Gate, Fallout, Halo, and other games that have a robust set of in-depth features that enable you to play, replay and play again are the games worth their price of entry.

MeridianHope did a good job explaining KickStarter...you kind of miss the point.

Kickstarter = Dev + Gamers = crowd-funded game.

It's like what Slightly Mad Studios is doing right now with Project CARS. There is no big pub saying "Oh well, you gotta add achievements, and there has to be an M16...if there's no M16 the CoD fans won't want to buy it."

Kickstarter will eventually make pubs afraid when gamers realize they ca...

Besides, Capcom is too cheap to pay for oil.

Before reading the article...I'm just gonna say that the pic with Judge Dredd looks wicked. And thankfully it's the bada$$ Dredd that Stallone played, not the kid-sized-helmet Karl Urban is rocking.

Man I'm almost willing to bet this will be next year's Call of Duty....Call of Duty: Police Warfare.

Activision is accepting bets, too. Bets start at $1,000,000,000. Kotick don't want no scrubs.

"Immortals"? Sorry, son, that's going on right now at the Origin and BioWare forums.

Don't go in there unless you got Sam and Dean at your back.
