Literally wouldn't surprise me.
Nintendo used to have places shutdown left and right during the UltraHLE fiasco during the late 90s and early 00s.
Nah, it was not an over-reaction. "Notch" spoke up and had the balls to say what shriveled up video game journalists are afraid to do...THEIR JOB!
The disc-locked content was revealed around the same time the game was released. I remember a few sites mentioning the on-disc DLC while others were simply praising it as a fighting game and ignoring the disc-locked content altogether.
It's quite sad, really.
Totally.
I think the other big prob is that gaming media rarely enforces any of this stuff.
I mean, how many sites/magazines/pubs were telling gamers specifically NOT to buy Street Fighter X Tekken because of the on-disc DLC? Most review scores were positive and goaded undecided gamers into making the purchase.
Only a few offbeat websites actually followed through with warning people, but judging by the numbers it was just too late.
...
The only thing worse than disc-locked content are anti-gaming apologists who justify corporate greed.
We can't get rid of the on-disc DLC until we can get people to stop listening to the apologists.
Hmm, makes it kind of broad...it's kind of rare to find a game that doesn't have at least one gun in it.
There is no common ground. Publishers make billions. Devs, not so much. Consumers? We spend an arm and a leg supporting this industry just so that those farts mentioned in the article can end up on our faces...and not the silent sheen kind either, those gross kind with actual particle matter in them.
I'm a real gamer and I approve of your message.
Bubbles to you, dude.
Ugh, dude really?
You do know that Project $10 has expiration dates? Herp-derp.
You also know that Origin is spyware? Herpy-derpy-durp.
You do know that they were the reason Mass Effect 3's ending was screwed up and it was riddled with so much DLC? Derpy-hrpy-durp-durp.
Publishing great games doesn't excuse them from ill-business practices. No one is complaining about the games. Get informed, dude...people are hating ...
The people who disagreed with Sackboy obviously believe j-blaze's one-bubble opinions are legit. So that's saying something.
I'm pretty sure 5% of the sophisticated members of N4G would prove you wrong if they weren't out camping while eating ice cream with their family.
That's actually a really, really, really good point.
I mean, when do we decide to accept when DLC is okay or when it's stripped?
Even if the DLC is being made after the game is "finished" it sometimes feels like the game itself isn't as "polished" as it should be, even though DLC is already on the way.
I'm also really scared about Borderlands 2 for the same reason. I think they've said that with their...
The would be if you put more money in the coffers.
Bubbles. I laughed like a sophisticated little girl.
For reals. This game was awesome and I've played it so much in the past because there weren't many other good Captain America games.
No worries memots, this game is actually PC FIRST! WOOOOOOT!
I'm also curious if the Wii U version will utilize the PC's DX11 capabilities or if it will be a direct port of the 360 version?
Anyways, so far, to be in pre-alpha and still have stuff added to it on a weekly basis, Slightly Mad Studios is just knocking it out of the ball park. The audio alone will make your heart melt.
I agree.
I think that the focus should have been on pressuring BioWare to just stick to making an ending THEY felt was befitting for the conclusion of Shepard's galactic journey. We all know they were pressured and there's no way they would have really concluded the ending the way they did if they had more time.
Some gamers are understanding of this, but yes, I do acknowledge that there were a lot of other (rightfully) butthurt gamers who took it to a...
and Kazuya's purple suit with that awesome music in the dark high-rise building. Seriously, that was one of the most compelling video game, story-oriented boss fights ever.
Yeah...
Gamers made the industry what it is (core gamers by the way) because we dumped a lot of money into someone else's effort.
Before this gen gamers nary said a word that stirred the pot. The internet has been in existence since before AOL and bulletin boards and user groups have been around for ages. If gamers were displeased there were outlets to make it known.
But back then video games were designed by passionate people and gamers...
lol, I still play X-Com because they won't make a better version of it utilizing today's technology. I also still play old Sonic and Mario games. I say all the more power to them...if game companies stopped churning out crap to "cash in" and focused on just making good games we wouldn't have to worry about always finding ways to play old games on new hardware.
