Even MW2 on PC is shipped with no dedicated server support, it will be interesting to see how many PC gamers are still going to buy/pirate it. Can PC gamers really resist not playing the game? It's like drug addiction.
If you look at Blu-ray movies, some Blu-ray movies are up to 4 or 5 discs now. More discs packaging always gives the illusion it's more for the money. Disc 1 is obviously the game. Disc 2 could be bonus materials. While it's possible that Disc 1 is only BD25 to ensure disc 2 is needed than creating single BD50 for both disc 1 and 2. Disc 3 could be soundtrack because if it's in AudioCD format, it has to be on a CD.
If the it's the Collector's Edition, then more discs are a must t...
The strap only prevents the Wiimote itself from taking off your hand but not the racket attachment. But too many Wii players swing the Wiimote unneccessary so hard to control it.
One thing PC cannot do is "just work". When I buy a game, put the game into the "game device" and I expect it to "just work" without needing to upgrade or install drivers (such as video driver and DirectX) and able to play the games immediately. When I put in the launch title game a few years later into the "game device", I expect to be compatible immediately. There are old games that I like and on the PC, it requires a lot of tweaking to the OS, Direct...
If you don't care about watching Blu-ray movies on the PS3, then the Blu-ray driver is only for loading games from disc. Some reason people always assume everyone want to watch Blu-ray movies on the PS3.
I have both PS3 and X360 and I do watch movies on my PS3, but I also know not everyone cares about watching Blu-ray movies on their PS3.
So, in a way, PS3 including the Blu-ray drive is not the best value for everyone. Just because a feature is on a console, it doesn...
You can't detach PS3 hard drive and put into another PS3 and load all the data on the hard drive. X360 hard drive can be detached and use on any X360 console with the same data.
It's the reason X360 hard drive is external connected to the console and PS3 hard drive is internal because it's not intended to be used on another PS3 unless you want to reformat it.
Sometimes, you have to mute the voice from other online players. You still get stupid messages sent to you. On PS3, because there's no preferred player rating (the 5 stars rating on X360 Live), those kind of players can't give you bad rating because they think you sucked.
Before PSP Go came out, one of the most requested is not to have UMD drive and use flash memory for storage and make the PSP more slim to carry around.
Sony did that as many PSP owners wanted.
For the price of PSP download games, why would anyone ever thought it's going to be cheap? With UMD games licensing, it's not easy for Sony to simply "copy" the UMD games for download version. For trade in UMD games, there are so many business and licensing issues Son...
Finally someone that cares about the audio enough to include it in the review. It always puzzles me that like Blu-ray movies, many reviewers forgot about the audio. Graphics or picture is only half of the experience.
If you have watched the history on how Sony makes their products, everything in PSP Go isn't a surprise. PSP owners said they don't want UMD and smaller. PSP Go answered that requests. But PSP owners did ask for same Memory Stick type, same mini USB or UMD BC for their games. Simply assuming Sony will do it is never the case.
You only get what you asked and don't get what you assume you will get.
It's quite obvious from business why Sony wants PSP Go owners to buy ag...
Comparing to how Sony (and Microsoft) to Nintendo, the cost to get the PS3 to the top is so much higher. Sony (and Microsoft) keep hyping and building impressive very advanced technology and games but it's very hard to make the profit with them. Nintendo is doing the low technology, rebrand the last gen technology and sell to casual gamers which is very profitable.
Great PS3 games like Metal Gear Solid 4, Uncharted 1 and 2, God of War series, etc are very high cost to make but th...
Booting to desktop doesn't mean anything if the many of the OS services aren't fully ready to use. It's not as hard to tweak the OS to boot to desktop quickly if the PC isn't 100% usable. Time to boot to desktop is nothing more than the illusion that OS boots faster for marketing and to look good.
If you look back to Windows NT4, the OS loads all the needed services before the desktop appears. Of course that creates the illusion the OS is booting slowly.
Even booting...
I read something about Batman: Arkham Asylum on PS3 has locked save game. Can someone who owns the game confirm it?
I'm planning to buy the game but locked saved game will be the main factor in deciding to buy either PS3 or X360 version. I know PS3 version has exclusive Joker challenge.
Finally, someone wrote an article about this locked saved games because it's one of the worst kept secret about PS3 until the gamer found out later. It's one of the more common question asked in PS3 forums and even today, many PS3 owners still think all saved games can be copied to another PS3. Even backing up the entire hard drive for a few saved games isn't the answer because the entire backup must be restored to get a few saved games back. Has anyone ever timed how long it takes to backup ...
Why be a fan of either console? Being a fan of either PS3 or X360 means you are missing out exclusives and unable to choose the better version made for both consoles.
The idea of a game console is to play games, not to take side and miss out the games for the other console.
Reviews are only for getting some idea about the contents of the game, not which console the reviewer likes.
Compared to $60 disc version game, the download version will be easily $100 or more when you factor in the hard drive space,
no resell or trade in value, no exchanging games with friends when you are bored with them. Many gamers sell or trade their old disc games to get some value out of them for the next game. There wouldn't be such thing anymore.
As proven on download version on PS3 and X360, old games are still priced at premium price.
The cost of gaming wi...
For people who love the idea of buying download version of the game, live with the restrictions.
Give it a few years and people who bought their games and movies as download version will find they don't own anything once the restriction prevents them for using them. It doesn't matter what Sony or the movie studio says today about able to redownload them because when they want to double or triple-dip you, they can easily do it.
Many will disagree with me today but whe...
320GB Blu-ray sounds impressive on paper but with Hollywood movie studios, disc capacity is meaningless. Why do some Blu-ray movies now come up to 4 discs? It's not because they require so much disc capacity but more discs per movie = higher movie price. It's a great for advertising, "3 discs edition". The extra discs must mean more HD contents? It's often not true because HD DVD proved a limited 30GB disc can store tons of contents. Somehow after Blu-ray won the format war, 50GB di...
A lot to do with development cost. Creating very detail and rich characters and environments cost a lot more. Designing good physics and AI also require more development time and cost. Just create a lot of dumb NPC because it's much cheaper.
When fans said there are great games like Uncharted, Killzone 2, etc, the question is if those games are possible, why are there so few games with such "next gen" quality?
Again development time and cost. Just create &q...
PC gaming probably wouldn't die 100% but fewer and fewer games are coming out on PC and many are delayed for months after the console version.
In the end, PC is only good to play a few games. For many PC gamers, that's all they care. For those including myself that want a lot of games to play and not having to wait for months for the PC version, then console is the way to play games. I started gaming back in Apple II games. PC/computer gaming was the best for most games to play. ...
