It's because Sony wants to save a few pennies by reducing the firmware flash from 256MB to 16MB.
Gamers like to point their finger at hackers. Sony has a history frequently introduce bugs in firmware updates long before PS3 was jailbreak.
The point is whenever the manufacturer updates the firmware, it's the manufacturer's responsibility to properly test the firmware before releasing it.
This proxy or custom DNS workaround are only good for a few days. It used to work for about month until several firmware revisions ago when Sony reduced the grace period to a few days.
Ask the same PS3 owners in a few days and see if they can still get onto PSN using the workaround.
I'll stick to disc version. Not only download version is more expensive because I have provide more hard drive space, it has zero resell value. I can't even give the download version away for free unless I want to also want to give my account away.
Download version is for gamers who don't care about providing more hard drive space and don't care to ever sell or give away their old games.
I read articles about giving old games for donation. No ...
Hopefully this investigation gets somewhere with every game publisher releasing broken/unfinished games. It's a standard practice today. Only difference is which game is released more buggy and broken than the other games.
From game publishers point of view, it's all about meeting the release schedule to keep gamers excited and make a lot of sales to look good for the stockholders.
From gamers' point of view, it's all about getting their hand...
False advertising is common today. Advertising some games 50% don't sound as good.
Thanks. Watched the part 1 of the comic (couldn't find part 2). Just watching the comic, it felt empty when coming to make decisions because it's like a commander sitting behind the desk reading about the story without any experience with the characters and then make decisions what to do next.
Having played ME1, not all my decisions were the most logical or best for the military because from interacting with the characters on the missions, I felt differently coming to...
I'm also curious if FF XIII-2 is mostly from the contents cut from the FF XIII, then part of the story becomes a semi prequel or flashback. It's possible the story was about Lightning's personal quests before the events in FF XIII.
A few questions if anyone has the ME2 installed and checked the DLCs:
1. The box says MINIMUM hard drive space is 5.3GB. What is the actual or MAXIMUM hard drive space used after installed all the DLCs?
2. What DLCs are locked until you activated the Cerberus Network? Is the activate code required to activate the Cerberus Network?
3. Does the ME1 interactive comic give you enough character details that help you to make decision if the character should...
Behold the slow loading of Blu-ray that makes large install often mandatory.
What will be the total install size after installed all the DLCs? If the download version is 12GB, is the disc version going to take close to 10GB?
Having large hard drive on PS3 isn't the most practical coming to do full hard drive backup just for the console locked saved game files. If I have to delete large game installs to make the backup faster, then it defeats the point of having a large hard drive.
Do any PS3 owners with 300-500GB hard drive that i...
Trophies have date and time stamp on when they were unlocked. If you suspect someone may have cheated, just compare their trophies for the game and if the date and time stamp for each trophy is too close, then you know the gamer has cheated.
Personally, I don't care if some else cheated to get more trophies because it's the same thing as trying to brag they have a lot of fake trophies.
Still unknown for the mandatory install size for the disc version. Dragon Age: Origins Ultimate Edition requires over 7GB of mandatory install.
One serious problem with having large hard drive on PS3 is the time takes to do full hard drive backup. If you ask why bother to do full hard drive backup, it's the only way to backup console locked saved game files.
It will take more than half a day to backup a 500GB hard drive that is full of data.
Of course if you have to clear up part of the hard drive for faster full hard drive backup, then there's no point having a large hard drive.
It's modeled with look-alive popular actors probably because it's easier to accept their familiar faces. It's also why most Hollywood movies need at least one well known actor so that the characters movie are easier to be accepted by the audiences.
Also, having a living actor's face makes it easier to model the character's face than having to create an unknown face that still look familiar to the gamers.
I assume David Cage also don't watch director's cut, extended edition, deleted scenes, extended scenes, alternate opening/ending in movies.
The beauty of "movie" style video game is you can make different choices and see how your choices change the story and experience. What's the fun in only able to experience only path in the story? My favorite is choose to save each character in Heavy Rain, and kill everyone and let the killer gets away in the story p...
While large hard drive for PS3 is cheap, PS3 owners keep forgetting that there are still many PS3 games that have mandatory large install just to be able to play the games. Games like Fallout 3 GOTY, Dragon Age: Origins Ultimate Edition take around 7GB of mandatory install. There are still other games that require 3-5GB of mandatory install. An example on a newer game, HAWX 2 require almost 6GB of mandatory install.
I have both PS3 and X360 and the 320GB hard drive on my PS3 ...
If any of those guys also play PS3 games, I guess they will never want to play the earlier PS3 games that don't have any trophy.
If any of them is planning to get a PS3, will they play great games such as Metal Gear Solid 4 that has no trophy?
The reason I use PS3 games as an example is gamers who love to play games for achievements and trophies probably will skip early PS3 games that have no trophy.
At Blockbuster store, if the one-time use code is printed on the manual such as UFC 2010 and EA sports games, they keep the manual with the rental disc. So, the 1st person who rented the game gets to use the one-time code for free while other renters don't get it.
Obviously BB has no idea about such one time use code that is now required for online multiplayer.
It seems Microsoft QA didn't have hard floor and place the X360 console on the hard floor when testing Kinect.
Maybe Microsoft should add another requirement to play Kinect:
While playing Kinect games, jump softly
or
Have thick and soft carpet are required.
How naive gamers in thinking paying for PS+ is "added value" to get around console locked save game files. Think about it. If Sony didn't add "Copy Prohibited" option to the PS3 OS. Game developers/publishers that don't value gamer's time on the game progress wouldn't be able to lock the save game file. There wouldn't be any need to pay for PS+ to get around the restriction.
This is clever marketing. Introduce a restriction that should ...
