I mean, the issue with MacKenzie isn’t about him specifically. It’s literally because we know there will be more NPCs with that exact same role. Will they vary the delivery? Sure. But the point still stands, their very presence is the problem. It takes away from Metroid’s isolation and exploration aspects.
That kind of NPC is something we expect from Sony’s hand-holding, tell-don’t-show games, not from Metroid.
I really don’t understand Microsoft’s endgame with GP. They must be bleeding users at this point.
The thing about the PlayStation Pro versions is the value. The PS4 Pro was awesome because it cost the same as the normal PS4 when it came out. You got more power for the same money, that was an amazing deal for everyone, fanboys and regular people alike.
But the PS5 Pro is different. It launched $300 more expensive than the regular PS5. So, its value propostion was pretty bad from the get go, it’s basically a device meant only for the hardcore fans.
For those asking “anticipated by whom,” it topped the most-played demos at one of the Steam Fests and was voted the most wanted title at the last PC Gaming Show. So definitely anticipated for a debut indie release.
But apparently, people played the demo and moved on.
I mean, you can, I'm also pretty sure that there is some bias towards Nintendo as well. But DK at least is on the top 3 best critically reviewed games of the year. And this is a critic award at the end of the day.
And again, it doesn't matter. It's not a popularity vote, it's not the Golden Joystick Awards, it's the TGA. A critic-based award. The nominees are picked by critics, and the vast majority of the voting weight comes from critics. So if you want to talk aggregated scores, then talk critic aggregated scores.
Also, come on, PSN reviews? Really? Where literally only fanboys would even bother to write something? The same fanboys who would say anything even remote...
I mean that is bad as well, not selling well, means "why bother making actual good ports, just port for the Switch and upscale it".
That is not what I said. This game was made for the Switch 2, and the version in the video is the native Switch 2 version. But it looks bad because the developers basically just upscaled the Switch 1 version. The only real changes are the higher resolution and better frame rate. There is no extra foliage, no better textures, no volumetric lighting or smoke, nothing. That is why it even looks worse than the PS4 version, because it is basically just an upscaled Switch 1 game being sold as a Swi...
Honestly, this doesn't bode well for the console. Not because it looks like crap, though it does, but because other channels have compared it with the Switch version and concluded that they’re basically the same. The only differences are a slightly higher resolution on the Switch 2 and the fact that it runs at 60fps.
So it’s basically the laziest port possible. And if this does well, developers will just be motivated to do more of this kind of BS.
Those aren’t players, those are Metacritic users. You don’t even need to own the game to give it a score on Metacritic, so it's a completely useless metric to use as an argument. It becomes even more meaningless when you consider that the TGA is not a popular vote award, it's a critics’ award. So if you want to use an aggregated score as an argument for anything, it should be the aggregated critics’ score.
In that case, Blue Prince is literally the second-highest-ra...
I agree that Blue Prince should have been nominated for GOTY. I'm not so sure it should have taken DK’s spot, though, instead, I think it should have replaced DS2. I'm 99% sure that one was only nominated because of who made it.
As for Arc Riders, I honestly don't even know if I’d put it in the Best Multiplayer category. Don’t get me wrong, the game is good, but not because of its multiplayer component. It’s hard to explain, one of those cases where the whole is...
Actually, ignore my last post.
There is a huge rea$$on that I forgot. Currently, the Xbox Windows App and the Microsoft Store take a much lower revenue share from third-party releases. Since 2021, it's only 12%, compared to the 30% they get on Xbox (the industry standard). So they do actually have a motive to push Xbox versions of the games instead.
Of course, they could also simply change that revenue split at any moment, but I assume that wouldn’t g...
Yeah, I'm with you on that.
Technically, it shouldn’t be hard to make Xbox games run on PC. But there’s just not enough rea$$$on for them to do it.
I don’t know if I would use the word “accessible” to describe the Frame. Sure, the fact that it works standalone and is wireless should make it easier to use, but it also has a lot of features for power users and, at the end of the day, it’s still a Linux device. Plus, price-wise, I fully expect it to be more expensive than something like the Quest 3, probably in the $600 to $800 range.
So, in terms of ease of use, I don’t think it will be better than Meta’s devices. Those ...
Valve has two major issues with their hardware distribution channels. First, their hardware is not officially available in the vast majority of the world. Those places rely on third-party importers, which often makes their products rare and prohibitively expensive. Second, in the countries where they do offer their hardware, it’s basically sold exclusively through their own website or a partner’s website, which means that only people already using Steam or following internet gaming even know ...
Well, for people like you they already have a option as well. It's the HORI Steam Controller.
Indie means independent in both development and publishing. If you have a third party handling the latter, you’re not indie, no matter the size of that third party or if they market themselve as "independent".
It’s the only broad game category that’s absurdly easy to understand and doesn’t require insider knowledge to classify. But the sorting that TGA and other publications do simply muddles the waters and hurts actual indie developers. It makes the whole thing ...
If I had bought it exclusively for the PS5, I’d completely agree it was a waste of money. There are definitely some highlights, but modded Beat Saber alone has seen more play on my PC than every single VR game I own on the PS5. That’s why I actually think it ended up being a pretty good purchase. I grabbed it during that “burn it” sale for around 300 USD, and it’s basically lived on my PC ever since I finished RE8.
I’d really like it if Sony actually developed more stuff f...
I see they still can't freaking understand the meaning of "Indie".
Very unlikely to happen, but I really wish they at least remastered Shattered Memories. From a story telling point, that is still my favourite title and I think it would fit really well as a VR game.
