Yeah, it's such a huge problem lately. The worst part is that click-bait is extending beyond desperate websites into more "legitimate" ones and now influencing what is now classified as "news." As a consequence, the focus of gamers and the industry as a whole is getting trashy, confusing and wasteful.

I dunno, some of the recent trailer looked bizarrely awful, but then again some looked great...

Ubi insists the game looks good, which you'd expect -but backing that up is previewers which had good things to say.

Conclusion: if you have doubts, wait for reviews/post-launch user vids.

It seems kind of obvious this game was rushed. I think it's clear there was tremendous pressure from MS, because of their perception of this game as being a major system seller.

As a result, performance lacks optimization, the game lacks modes/refinements...

...and the lack of a singleplayer of any kind, seems like a time consideration more than a design one.

This is not a good argument when the game is coming out a few months after an open world console game which looks a lot better, Infamous:SS.

Also, this PC-centric gaming thing is getting so tired. There are so many thing which make PCs and consoles different.

This constant return to PC comparison when talking about consoles is like constantly interupting people who are comparing Mercedes and BMW sedans and shouting "they're both pathetic compared to...

I agree, it just seemed OK...but not great. Like, if it were in-game that would be one thing, but an isolated tech demo? Wasn't impressed.

Youtube compression is no doubt a factor here, but um, yeah seems weak.

Yes, 2 was underrated. Also Infinite certainly didn't meet their targets, but sold many millions and much like the film industry, this industry never, ever (for better or worse) dumps a franchise when the last game moved 5 million+ units. Expect to see a lower budget game based on this property within 4 years, and a "reboot" effort by the end of this gen or the beginning of next.

Yes...this guy has literally zero value as an analyst/pundit.

Sites have to stop dignifying his random guesses by publishing them.

Well, for the guys at Respawn, this whole situation is unfortunate.

The company was formed after a dispute with activision, now they have EA making deals behind their backs.

On the one hand they are lucky to have a situation where they have a very hungry company, MS, pushing their game super hard. But on the otherhand, if the hype is to be believed, lightning has struck twice and they've yet again created a money printing IP...and yet again are out of co...

Yeah, a good policy is to severely restrict how much preview stuff you watch of games you already know you're going to buy. Keeps more surprises in tact.

Generally, the less I'm sure about a game, the more I'll let myself watch, right up until I get convinced to go for it, then stop immediately.

Disagree. Xb1 owners are excited for something new to play on their spanking new console, so naturally the preorders are high. But with a base like 20 times bigger, the 360 version will outsell it by a mile, at least in the short term.

Edit: in fact, if it doesn't sell well on 360 that bodes very badly for it as a potential system seller. As in: if it can't move 360 owners with just $60 in their pocket to buy it, then how will it make others with, thicker pockets, par...

Yeah, but is this possible? That looks like Carmageddon footage.

Even IF that is last gen footage, it still looks worse than many open world games on ps3/360. GTA 5 comes to mind immediately...and while GTA 5 has a weak framerate it still wouldn't explain not even *meeting* it's graphical fidelity at 30fps on next gen.

Yeah man,

Bear in mind this is MS...they love hyperbole and have someone's boring dad's sensibilities. The surprise is probably going to be something like "a new character is being added to Killer Instinct."

Actually, people have been "losing interest in console gaming" since the early 80's...despite the fact that the industry continues to consistently generate more revenue as we go forward.

Every console generation sells more units than the last and yet we have to suffer through endless articles about "console gaming's demise." It's so tiresome.

Yes AAA studios are going through yet another period of flux, but this has been going on ...

Actually, I think reports of U4 being "shocking" indicate that it will be far closer to these kind of realistic visuals. I mean, when you look at UC2/3 and TLOU and consider the power they now have to work with, there is no comparison. Ready at Dawn are impressing with The Order, but this is ND. They are in a league of their own. Even more reason (as if we needed any) is the addition of Corrine Yu, last year. The talent over there is mind boggling.

Short game thinking. MS has to start converting some 360 owners into xb1 owners . Even if it's at the expense of short term game sales.

The thing is that they've already largely abandoned 360 already and this was surely part of the EA deal. Otherwise the sales numbers would have been too small for EA to grant exclusivity.

It was sort of a catch 22 though, because in order to snag a perceived system seller, they had to remove an essential part of what...

I think one of the points being made here is actually quite accurate.

In attempting to make up for failings regarding the hack they managed to find themselves on a path which has morphed them from an aloof company to "the people's" game company. This happened because they realized how positive gestures and genuine dialogue could win you fans and loyalty.

Turns out when you set out to please customers, it results in: pleased customers. More compa...

Innovation is something people are starting to demand from every single title. It's just not possible and not really how innovation works.

Also, notice a connection with budget and innovation? Lower budget titles have a greater tendency to take risks. Why? Less financial risk and generally less "moving parts" to account for.

Yeah tbh the whole thing baffles me.

UC3 is one of the best games of all time... and time and again it's the game critics love to hate.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, I'm getting tired of hipster game critics who can hate a game for any possible reason.

UC3 was a way above average action story, with surprising depth and heart built into one of the best playing and jaw dropping action games ever. What is there to co...
