MeteorPanda, I think you hit the nail on the head. One of the worst problems with modern media is in their desperate attempts to stay interesting they group things forcibly together to form "trends."
This act of association of unrelated things, gets clicks, but also unfairly links together things and people.
Some women are hardcore gamers, some are self professed "girly gamers" who care more about matching their nail polish to their 3ds....
Yep! Well said!
@Georgeenoob
Your comments always tend to lean toward irrational fanboy rants, so probably no point responding to you...but one thing you said was particularly baffling.
When you say: Ms will not unbundle Kinect no matter how badly the Sony fanbase wants them to. You do realize that people saying MS should drop kinect believe it is their key to greater retail success. Why would the "PS fanbase" want that?
It just doesn't make se...
I agree that Gta V was a great game, but I'm confused why the article is comparing the two games, at all.
GTA is a GTA-style open world game. Seems obvious, but I believe it's a genre of it's own.
Watchdogs looks like an urban Assassin's Creed, with a few new elements. I'm excited for it, but it is what it is.
Like others, I bought the game day one pre-order, and the season pass...and the PS3 bundle (my slim needed replacing) so, yeah, while I totally respect your take on it, I would love a discount on this enhanced version.
Actually, no. The difference between pushing 1080 and 720 or 900 is actually very large. It sounds like a small number, but it isn't a difference of 360 or 180, it's hundreds of thousands of pixels....up to over 100% more.
The difference between 1080 and 900 is obvious. The difference between 900 that's upscaled to 1080 and actual 1080 is more subtle. Yet, also obvious.
Basically all the games being compared...are the SAME GAME. So people need to ...
Exactly. It's sort of like good headphones. Some people can't tell a $5 pair from a $500 pair.
Do you see forums talking about high end headphones full of people saying "who can hear the difference anyway?!" Nope.
If being picky about graphics doesn't suit people, why do they read articles about being picky about graphics and comment on them?
The whole argument makes no sense to me, period. Graphics are part of immers...
Getting kind of tired of this one. No offense to those who can't see the difference, but to many, if not most, it's super obvious. That is why 1080 is pursued for films, television and games to begin with.
I dislike this "palette change" criticism of the power set in SS.
I find that they straddled the balance between having them vary and having them overlap.
If they were too different, it would possibly strand a player in a limbo where no one power feels complete enough.
As it stands, I love the differences between powers and love them all in different ways.
This game is suffering from being held up as, sort of, the first next gen graphical showcase.
Ever since, all anybody cares about is how many polygons are used to render bathroom urinals in in game bathrooms.
Don't get me wrong, I love awesome graphics too, but it's like no one is talking about whether or not it will actually be fun.
Being the poster-child for next gen has had it's consequences. On the upside, it also got the game...
Yeah...fanboy arguments aside, this "promise of eventual parity" myth seems like total BS.
Am sick of the spoiled gaming culture. "Sure it's incredible, but it could have been even more incredible: 5/10."
Just appreciate it for what it is, not what it isn't. It's super fun.
If these critics think it's so easy, I'd like to see them give it a go.
The tech is in it's infancy. But I've yet to see a journalist who's had a hands on give any VR experience a full thumbs up. No matter how much they may like it, they always end up adding "of course after 10 minutes I felt like puking" or "after 15 minutes I had a splitting headache."
So, along with the standard tech issues, affordability, convenience limitations, software creation etc, you have genuine user adaptation hurdles that might not onl...
If these numbers are indicative if a trend (I believe they are) then MS must have a very strong showing of exclusives at E3 or momentum will send them into a spiral, for sure.
I think the frustration with the reviews of this game is that some reviewers are overlooking that this is a popular genre, well executed.
I sort of feel like this game is suffering in some reviews *because* of the graphics because it gives them a "hook."
They get to say stuff like "all sizzle, no steak."
But dial the graphics back to something like AC4 levels. Do you think he would have gone lower than a 6 on 10? No way....
Yeah, this game is phenomenal. So damn good. Looks and gameplay.
It's a hard subject to cover in a comment, but I ask the question:
Why does "sexualizing" a woman devalue her?
Isn't a brawny, shirtless man "sexualized?" Is he somehow "less" for it? No.
Part of what women are is sexy. I don't see why celibrating that, even "objectifying" that is in and of itself a problem, especially when coupled with characters that are otherwise strong, powerful, resourc...
I'm not sure top lists make sense this early in a console's lifecycle. I guess there is no harm in it, but it lacks the impact of curating like 5 years of titles and boiling them down to the best of the best. More fun. Though, as always, these lists are probably useful for new buyers looking to choose from what's out there.
Yeah, a couple hours into Infamous... Looks amazing and is a blast.
Mexico in RDR? Strike that from the list. RDR doesn't belong on this list .
