I dunno where you been, but Sony is the undisputed king of supporting formats that aren't widely used elsewhere. To name a few prominent examples:
Betamax
Mini-disc
Memory Stick in all its flavors
PS1 and PS2 memory cards
UMD on PSP
Super Audio CD
DVD Audio
PS Vita flash cards

That said, it is a curious omission to not include UHD disc support. Someone above mentioned possibility that it may stil...

Also, divisive hardware strategies with weird control schemes compared to their competitors which kept ports of 3rd party games away. The more Nintendo isolates themselves from Sony and MS's market, the more 3rd parties are going to ignore them, going for the bigger market share instead, unless N really gives them a compelling reason to come back. From what we've seen so far on NX, I don't think we've seen anything other than some rhetoric from "insiders" that a co...

@C-H-E-F:
GoldenEye was on N64, not "atari", and released in 1997 while DOOM released in 1993. So, no. You're way, way, wrong. Wolfenstein 3D was the first pseudo-3D FPS game and DOOM game out a little afterward. DOOM was the first FPS game to add enemies at different elevations, even though vertical aiming was done automatically, and it was also the first to feature a PvP Deathmatch mode.

Removing the "do not remove" sticker does not void your warranty per the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act. I wish anyone wanting to try to have good luck arguing it with them, however. I'm sure they'll fight you tooth and nail over it even though the law is very plain and the manufacturers have been provided guidance on this by the Federal Trade Commission.

I think it's interesting that Nintendo is allegedly going this route. Sony tried something similar twice already with the PSP and 1st generation Vita where they included the connectors and hardware necessary to output directly to a television. Just needed the cables to hook them up to the TV. This feature was never really supported on Vita and they never sold the necessary cables to make it work. On PSP, though, they did make the cables available. Granted, Sony's portables have n...

My old college buddy says his brother puts his balls (paint balls, that is) in the freezer for a while before he goes out for a match. That's just eeeeevil. Then again, he is from south side of Chicago....

@rainslacker
Nonsense about the PSP and the Vita containing PS1 hardware. The closest thing here to that claim is only the PSP's CPU. PS1 contained a 32-bit MIPS R3000A CPU. PSP has a 32-bit MIPS R4000-series CPU. The PSP's CPU is the next generation version of what was in the PS1 and it probably uses a superset of the commands that the 3000A supported. This would be similar to how the old intel 486 compared to the older 386. That meant that PSP most likely can natively...

Ditto what -Foxtrot said. Was it ever NOT time for PS1 games to be compatible? If the PSP and Vita can manage it, why not the PS4?

4-6 hrs/day? Damn, son.... Are you disabled or are you a developer or something? That's a LOT of video game time.

LOL, when I first read the headline, I swear I thought it read "...We Are Dumbing Down on Gaming..."

I could be wrong, but I don't think the PS4 ever targeted "high end users". "High end console users" maybe. I'm not sure Neo would really change that situation now with the new nVidia 1080/1070 and AMD R9 480X coming out. It's a moving goalpost and the consoles will always be behind the "high end users" that want the best graphics horsepower which they can only get from PC. Consoles may do a reasonable facsimile of upper mid-range PC hardware when...

I agree, actually. Pretty graphics and fun gameplay will carry a game a long way, but what they have shown me in heir marketing just seems terrribly thin to me and would grow boring in about 20 minutes.

I didn't say anything about being fun or not fun. I asked what was the point of what the characters are doing? Why the hell are hey fighting and why should we care? What is the context here? None of the commercials or other ads I've seen for this game speak to any of those questions.

Sure, it's fun. But what's the motivation here? Do these characters exist for the sole purpose of brawling for no apparent reason? For bragging rights? For a game show? ...

Lots of people hated on the expensive memory stick pro duo cards that only the PSP and certain Sony cameras utilized. Might have been a couple Samsung devices that supported those cards, too, I'm not sure. Lots of people also hated the UMDs. The caddies that contained the disk sometimes would come apart. The disks were much bigger than a flash memory card and so not super easy to carry around a bunch of them with you. Also, optical drives in general in a portable are not viewed as a ...

Is there a point to this game besides just killing other players? Characters just brawling for no apparent reason?
