If PC's implementation of Dolby Atmos were anything to get excited about I'd be singing it's praises.
I've tried it myself and it's nothing to get excited about. But what do I know my hearing is excellent for a guy who spontaneously can lose hearing at any time without a cause.
Before my hearing decided to disable itself I also experienced many other stereo, binaural and 3D audio solutions in the past. IMAX was the best theate...
Section 8.2.72b:
Proper Pause Button Utilization Training
§C: When the level loads too fast and your anxiety starts setting remember to take a deep breath and make that thumb reach for the pause button.
Remember this training and you'll be fine.
Like??? Which games on PC right now crush Driveclub? I know Microsoft Flight Simulator will but that's not out yet and I don't even think they confirmed the specs yet (apparently not as of writing this) so tell me what on PC just blows everything we've seen on PS4 away?
I can't think of anything. It's actually funny because I've been playing some last gen games on my PC lately and noticed that even those last gen PC titles suffered in key areas while simultane...
And not on Xbox... So why get one?
Yesterday's phones are pretty cheap today. To be clear phones that came out just yesterday are still absurdly expensive. It's a metaphor and it holds true you can buy a Samsung Galaxy S8 for about the same price as a Nintendo Switch and it's more powerful. I managed to run GRID Autosport on it at 60FPS just like Switch can and without a case it doesn't hit any thermal limit so you can just keep on playing it at 60FPS until the battery dies. Pretty strange considering on newer ...
Well good news.
All a developer would do is make the game as per usual and the PS5 takes advantage of 3D audio regardless. The only thing that developers may not utilize is raytracing acoustic phenomena like reverb, echo or occlusion. Of course basically all developers have dedicated audio teams that are probably itching to test this stuff out so I think we'll see a heavy emphasis on improved sound design this generation and PS5 might give users the absolute best experience until...
@Kaiou
Did Dolby do the recording of Spider-Man's audio? The mixing? The editing? Oh right no, no and no. So why do we need their tech to hear it properly. Who sells THX speakers? Did I need them to enjoy any THX mixed movie? The answer is also a totally unsurprising no. So why do you need Dolby speakers with Atmos?
We can only hope MS turns Xbox into a feature complete Windows 10 PC.
OpenGL 4 and Vulkan APIs as well as Sony's own libraries and APIs specific to PS hardware. Direct X functions can be interpreted by OpenGL and Vulkan as evidenced by the GRID Autosport mobile/Switch port.
Sony did this back on PS2 with Ace Combat and then again on PSP with WipEout: Pure. The audio in that game was underrated in my opinion and it was phenomenal even without considering that PSP is less capable than PS2.
The audio mixing was excellent in WipEout Pure (when wearing headphones) you could tell when another racer was approaching you and even about how fast they're approaching just by the sound of their engine when someone hits the boost on a fast approach from behind an...
Compact Discs were also a partnership between Sony and Phillips
BD-ROM was a collaborative effort of many corporations.
However in all cases Sony was the company responsible for building the laser assembly as well as modifying the frequency and making sure the media isn't damaged by the intense laser radiation. They did the heavy lifting of making the tech work as intended Phillips was largely responsible for making the CD media itself.
If you're talking about PSP speakers or 3DS speakers or ultra thin FP displays, then I understand...
But most TV speakers don't sound like •••• these days. Most TVs over $500 have respectable (but still weak) bass and don't crush high frequencies either (thanks to far more capable sound processors). Today's TV sets can give you great sound quality. Even really expensive phones offer quieter audio with even less bass but generally match the TV audio experience at low v...

How many ears do you have?
More than 2 ears? More than two eardrums?
Yeah I eagerly await the justification for using up to 1,000 speakers or more for a decent surround sound experience... WHEN YOU ONLY HAVE TWO EARS TO HEAR IT ALL!
Very true.
If Google decides to make a true console like PS5/XSX (with support from major 3rd party publishers), but running Android without any limitations on apps that it could run, Google might actually give PlayStation and Microsoft a run for their money.
Might even make a streaming box worth owning. Imagine controlling your A/C, ordering a pizza and playing games with one device! Kinda creepy in my own personal opinion, but undeniably this has some mass market potential...
Just imagine that effect for every object even without the use of VR...
To me that's exciting!
This thread is proof that no one understands what was said in the reveal.
HRTF is a measure of how sound makes its way through your ear canal.
Each human has only 2 ears (in most cases) that work (also most cases) and the importance of the HRTF sound simulation is to fool your eardrums into believing sounds from the game world are coming from a physical location.
In real life if sound is below you you know it because the sound must travel through...

@rainslacker
Those official docs should tell you the GPU clock frequency tops out at 2.23Ghz not 2.33Ghz.
This is what Cerny stated in The Road to PS5 video I linked to earlier.
@GottaBjimmyb
The PS5 power input is throttled
(Source: YouTube->Channel-"Play Station"-Video-"The Road to PS5"-Time-"35:00& ;quo t; - can't use HTML in comments here's a link: https://youtu.be/ph8LyNIT9s... ) as you can see PS5 varies its clock speeds rather than its power input meaning thermal performance should never be exceeded. The reason for that as Cerny explai...
"Sony's approach" was supposed to be a GDC presentation not one for general population. If it went over your head that's probably because you don't make games.
