I think this had a lot to do with Xbox having Forza 7 as its only larger game for this holiday. So Phil had to go for PUBG. And now he has to try and show a commitment to its exclusivity on a longer term. Its a good biz move & will help this holiday...
It won't help much in 2018 (when the attention will be on major AAAs RDR2, Anthem, Detroit, Dayz Gone, State of Decay, Sea of Thieves, Crackdown 3, Spider-Man, God of War, etc)

But in my opinion, PS4 is the best console this generation (b/c it comes down to the games):

The target audience was going to buy the X regardless of what they saw. And if thats the only people they plan on selling it to, then fine...But outside of the target audience they need an explanation (and we'll eventually see if they provided a good enough one)

The Xbox One X is more powerful than the Pro, obviously...But whether or not the extra power is worth the extra $100 is SUBJECTIVE (and thus up to each individual's opinion)

I'm fine with that (b/c PlayStation already did it with a few games this generation with the PS4/PS3)...But they shouldn't promote it as a feature so as to not raise expectations of locking it in for all (or even most) games

God I hope PS4 Pro games WONT play PS5 games...I agree with you on Backwards compatibility (people need to keep existing library).
But forwards compatibility just holds the newer, more powerful, more expensive hardware back...Example: Forza Horizon 2 (on both 360 & XB1) had Invisible walls while Forza Horizon 3 (NOT available on 360) had no invisible walls
As to when PS5 drops...I've been saying 2019 or 2020. It makes sense to me either way

Although...For the record "this coming season" and/or "holiday season" is BS criteria...I mean, are we really acting like people only play games during 1 time of the year.
I think a reasonable comparison would at the beginning of 2018 where we could compare exclusives from Jan 1st, 2017 through Dec 31st, 2017 (you know, the real timeframe that most gamers like to game)...

While it is easy to cherry pick any individual game on PS4 and ask where the 60M user base was...The PS4 still has an 8.07 attach rate as of June 12, 2017 (487.8M PS4 games sold divided by 60.4M PS4 consoles sold) - which is phenomenal for that size install base
