I'll agree with you there. But let's face it, some reviews are crap. I can't judge MAG as I haven't played it, but it just disappoints me to see so many people cling to positive or negative reviews like they mean something, instead of playing what they want/enjoy.
Thank you Mont for actually following your OWN opinion instead of someone else's. Bubbles for you.
Can you tell me the difference between a game that gets an 83 and a game that gets an 84?
What's that, you can't? What's that Metacritic selectively chooses not only who they post, but what said score means as well? What's that, arbitrary?
No no, you're totally right, scores matter. *giggles*
Nintendogs FTW.
"and I mean PROFESSIONAL reviewers like IGN. And your so called opinion of the game does not matter to the majority. "
Thank you Two-Face for proving what a sheep you are.
A "pro" OPINION is more valid than a gamer's OPINION, or even more importantly your own opinion? Gotcha. Hell, I've been gaming since before many of these "pro" reviewers knew what a "Sony Xbox" was. Is my opinion thus more valid? Make up your own mind about ...
Taste will always be a factor, as reviews are opinions. But when you slam one title for lack of content or a short campaign or no multiplayer or no innovation, and then give another title a free pass, it makes you wonder.
And it's not just Edge who is guilty of this, but man they sure do love to play up the elitest angle.
Oh... Bruce on games. Hah. Carry on.
*giggles*
MAG - Unoriginal. Derivative. Lacking innovation. 6/10
ODST - Unique. Brilliant Innovative. 9/10
Can't wait to see Dante's outscore GoW3 from this rag on the same argument. Good ole Edge.
I like it when media outlets put out articles like this, when they themselves often help foster the fanboy wars for hits. They play both sides.
Hmmm.. it would be easy to say that CoD outsold Halo... MS should just pack it up. But nah. Too easy. Another day on N4G.
I'm buying both to sit alongside Bayonetta, DMC4, Ninja Gaiden Sigma 1 and 2, and Darksiders. Hack and slash is back baby. Thank god, I was getting sick of FPS.
Now where are my platformers?
I vote for Kotakus.
This is the good.
This is the bad.
This is how much I played.
Who will like it?
Done and done. Scores are stupid.
Which is unfortunate, as MW2 has proven to be one of the most glitchy online experiences ever.
Graphics are nothing without content and gameplay to back it up, as the painfully empty/linear FFXIII should prove to everyone.
How do you review a game that isn't a conventional game? I think this title, regardless of its quality, only goes to show how flawed and arcane the media's scoring system is. Sessler was right =)
They were pushing for a "higher profile villain" when Raimi wanted to use Vulture. They did the same to him with Venom (he wanted only Sandman) and look at the boring wreck 3 turned out to be. No negotiations, so they ended it, and the company decided reboot.
Bleh.
WOOP WHOOP.
BS alert!!!
Okami deserved better sales, as did Shadow of the Colossus, and Ico. Viewtiful Joe deserved better sales, as did Black.
I just feel like people want to be told what to like instead of trying things for themselves. How else could Transformers 2 or MW2 make so much money with such a lack of quality?
Marketing helps, but frankly, its consumer buying trends that will shift this industry like any other, and right now it screams "casual market me!" Sigh.
"Sony's blockbuster 360 killer title was Killzone 2"
This mentality right here is exactly what's wrong with gamers and the media today I feel. One title cannot, and should not be expected to, "kill" another. Case in point... I bought Bayonetta AND Darksiders. AND I will get God of War 3. While it's true many gamers have limited funds, the idea that a title is designed to directly remove the fanbase of another title is just silly.
I do think Sony m...
Then don't make your entire post post reek of fanboyism to combat fanboyism, it perpetuates the cycle! Or do you not remember 360 fanboys marking down PS3 titles with zeros as well?
But that's neither here nor there, the big issue is, Sessler is right.
I posted a reply above, but basically you use a mobile spawn point and friends on the opposing team to rake in easy kills/stats.
Kudos to this guy. That was hilarious. I love angry 13yo's online.
Third party exclusives are almost dead.
Welcome to 2008. ;-)
FF Versus/360 no?
ME Collection/PS3 anyone?
