I liked parts of Avatar, but I really don't believe it deserves the level of praise its getting.
As for Bay... because Bad Boys and The Rock were great? Lately... well...

How does one "exterminate" a system? Every year people harp about how the PS3 or 360 is doomed. I've yet to see it.
And Wii will outsell the 360.

Hell, the full CGI in GoW1/GoW2 were stylistically awesome and gorgeous, especially the death of Ares/Titanomachy.
The 1.05 patch upped the damage big time. So now people die faster... 1 sniper shot for instance.
