Honestly, even if it deserves it, I doubt it will get it, for the simple fact that it's being released so early in the year. It will be all but forgotten by the fickle media as they hype the next big thing over the coming months. Which is but one reason I dislike how "GOTY" awards are handled.
Cyrax, I agree with you. I love ME, and will be grabbing ME2 this weekend. But yeah, it's unfortunate that people take the inconsistency and bias in the media as a chance to defend their console, when the title itself isn't even what's on trial.

Disdain for a review does not equal disdain for the product. I loved ME, will buy ME2. But Eurogamer has proven time and again to be inconsistent like most outlets.
I can't wait to play this baby, but not because of what Eurogamer or what any other review outlet has to say.

No game is perfect, even if the original article is nitpicking.
Betas are, by definition, not release candidates. A public beta will usually have been locked down and tested about a month prior to its public release.
Also, even press events are controlled situations, and I think the media should move away from them. Review the game that's out there, not what's presented at a press event that can twist your view of the game (for good or bad).

Even as a child, I appreciated media that didn't pander to me. When say, Gargoyles, dealt with issues of betrayal, life and death... it was something that stuck with me.
Programs for kids don't have to be made for idiots.
