You are right about the HD "Movie" formats being too early for the current market. I think now they are just "perks." I personally have 4 HDTVs in my home and am damn glad I work my butt off to afford the setups I have because for the "Movie" experience... the HD formats are a great way to go. I don't think it is correct to suggest that Sony placed a BR drive in the PS3 simply to push the sales of BR discs... you forget that the PS3 is a multitasking system n...
The US is so far behind the eightball in this area. Just reading of how fast Japan's connections are makes me dizzy. Is it simply a matter of the cable companies, etc.. wanting to rip us off as long as they can? Who knows... It is a huge investment but I would be willing to pay for the speed.
I use my PS3 also to watch any regular DVDs now due to the upscaling ability of the console; however, the end result does not compare to the actual HD version of the film. My spouse can't tell the difference either; but to those of us who can... the HD film version is well worth the extra dough. The original film on the DVD is only of a certain quality and the PS3, albeit does a fantastic job of upscaling, can only do so much with what it has to work with. Even though there are some good f...
Putting PS2 towards the PS3 model??? Do you really expect someone to get much money from a trade-in on a PS2??? Do you know how bad people get ripped off on trading in merchandise such as that to the likes of Gamestop, etc....?
Have to agree....Good Riddens'...does he need help packing up his desk.
Would agree with most that Capcom could have had bigger news with such hype that was put out. As far as Lost Planet goes... not sure what all these extra characters and 360 Downloadable content is about...just played the single player game and never downloaded extra content... only remember some extra maps being released on 360 though...could be wrong. It was a decent game for its genre and time... but it is a year old. Will I buy it again for my PS3... more than likely just to support the...
You are right Meus. Home is potentially too big of an addition to PSN for MS not to bring some sort of competition to it. Figured it would happen sooner or later. I personally feel they should not waste any resourses on it and focus on fixing their current product so it has NO defects.
I doubt that Epic won't release a 360 version; however, it is strange that they used to openly say it was a timed exclusive and now you don't hear anything about it unless that is part of the deal of being a timed exclusive...that you can't advertise for the other system while in this time frame. If this isn't the case and Sony is working to have it really an exclusive... it will do much to rally all the PS2 Sony fans to move up to the next piece of hardware. Have played the online MP demo ...
The BC is not gone. It is gone in the new available model... not the only model... You can't start a flamewar on this issue. If you want BC, you have to shell out a little more money like the rest of us did. Sony isn't going back on their word... for there are still models capabable of BC. Just as the other companies have done.. they are giving the consumer more options and a cheaper route to get into the still amazing PS3. Nothing they have done to the new model have affected its techn...
You get what you pay for... I bought two at launch... and I don't feel I over paid for the pieces of technology that I have.
Well, you are entitled to your opinion but that doesn't say much for your intelligence if you believe Sony is desperate by initiating a cheaper model option which is what the consumer base wanted from the beginning. Did you think that same when MS did the same with one of the many different models and price ranges they offer? Guess not since the press didn't write that article and blindly lead their cattle.
Once again, another article by him with a title trying to bait a flamewar. Misdirected content as well. Don't see him stating MS is desperate with their different models and price drops... imagine that. So sorry I bought a PS3 at launch now...NOT!!! Yelp...Sony circling the drain...NOT!!!
Everytime I get excited for a game from Nintendo, they end up pushing it back drastically. They have done this for every darn console they have put out. Got the wii at launch because Metroid was supposed to be in the lineup.... once again...pushed back...way back... Yes, games get delayed on all consoles...but Nintendo has a knack for using a game to launch a console and then pulling it out at the last minute. the 360 and PS3... we at least had a couple of months notice of what was actual...
Doesn't matter what the company/developer has done in the past... you can still put out a crappy game... Wait wait... not saying Bioshock and Halo 3 was crappy. I quite enjoyed Bioshock and I must say Halo 3 was fun (but disappointing). Bioshock was different in its atmosphere, but can we truly call it next gen??? Probably.. after all...it is a loose term right now. The graphics were very good, gameplay was good, story was okay (hoping for more..but sure they will be another). I still p...
LOL
That is just the point... when you purchase an item.. it only belongs to you... not your brother, mother, cousin... etc. MS has the same precautions on its Zune...no one bit@hing about that. You can share it but only for about 48 hrs or something like that...then they have the option to purchase it THEMSELVES. I have to buy a second game disc so I can play with my son on most games.... there is no difference just because a game disc costs much more. When people take advantage of digital t...
However, you are correct in that the current problems started with the advent of the internet and the use of peer to peer file sharing. Making a copy of your cassette, etc in the olden days was not that much of an impact especially given the fact that it was not a perfect digital copy as it is possible today. How many copies would you make for your friends in the old days...a couple...big deal... now you can make a near perfect if not perfect copy of a song/cd and put it on the internet and...
If you just want a couple of songs... you have many, many options to purchase a legal copy of that song without buying the whole album (Itunes, etc...). You almost always have some songs that suck on an album... that is nothing new. It has been that way since the advent of recording media. I rarely buy a whole CD anymore due to this. That is one of the reasons they are trying to step up the policing of illegal downloads and illegal song sharing.
media (songs, videos, etc...) without paying for it. Get a job and buy your own copy.
You should do your research a little more. Granted Toshiba just finished prelims on the 51GB HDdisc; however, no official releases have been slated to go into production because they are not even sure if it can be done with current players or they have to sell new ones. If that is the case... going to be some pissed off early HDDVD adopters. And by the way... .since you brought it up... Bluray also announced a 100GB disc that is possible with just a firmware...yelp ... no new hardware. Al...
