I'm not sad.

I hope Greg Miller is the next big name journalist to go. Or maybe Tom Chick.

A lot of odd "journalists" in gaming these days. Adam S was one of them, IMO. He was too wierd, and too disconnected from the gaming masses, to be interesting. He had no real insight -- just wierdo musings. If he ever seemed to have a valid revelation about gaming, it was totally random luck.

In terms of hardware, everything vulcanproject stated above is correct.

Hardware is never the whole picture, however. It took a couple years for PC gaming to exceed console gaming, thanks to the PC lowest common denominator, and the severe inferiority of generic software driver interfaces relative to specific hardware drivers and APIs.

On mobile devices, the software issue is compounded by the OS, and often the development language for games (i.e. Java or Ob...

Some of the most fun I've had with a shooter in a while. Pretty wierd, since its a portable game.

I wish Zipper had stuck around to make a Bioshock-like title on the Vita, or somesuch.

Crysis 2, Witcher 2, Crysis 3, BF 3, PlanetSide 2, Firefall, Guild Wars 2, etc. etc. will all suffer with this build.

Anything released in the coming year and beyond, basically, plus some stuff that was released in the past year.

More BS from journalist PC fanboys looking for site hits.

That CPU sucks (weaker than an i3? Come on). Also, too little memory (4 GB?)

At least the GPU is decent this time, and they took note of the fact that the OS costs $100+, and isn't included in the pricetag.

I can accept a $650 gaming PC that "does it all", because the OS is included, and the CPU isn't a$5, but this one doesn't cut it.

I actually think the opposite -- my 3DS is pretty soulless, except for DS Prof Layton games. My Vita, on the other hand, is wonderously awesome, with rich and numerous PSP RPGs and loads of upcoming greatness.

At GameStop, you pay nearly full price for a used title with no case, no manual, and often a scratched disc.

With eBay, you pay about half the new price for a disc that is in a condition you can evaluate from the auction -- often its like new.

At GameStop, they charge so frickin much for a used title, which they bought for so little, yet they can't give up a couple $$ to the publishers to include an online pass with a used title when they resell it? Come...

Kuyrlo3d...

Those Cell numbers are for just the PPU -- i.e. one of NINE cores. You realize that the Xenon is literally just 3 PPUs, right? And that the Cell has 8 SPEs that add a TON to the chip's processing ability? Did you copy those #s from wikipedia, without bothering with the (PPE only) comment, because you didn't know what that meant?

Also, I called the i7 an i7 "quad core", because there are oct-core i7s (the server model). There&...

Wow, are you wrong.

A Cell design, with the same # of transistors as a modern quad-core i7 would have 3 PPUs with a 4MB L2 cache and 24 SPUs. It would *destroy* the i7, at practically everything but word processing and some crappy apps that suck with cache coherency and branching issues.

You are out of your mind if you honestly believe the Cell was a poor design. It has the highest performance, per unit power (i.e. it scales the most effectively), of any pr...

I think the PS4 GPU is much more likely to be the equivalent of a HD 7770 than a HD 7670 -- it wouldn't release until next year, likely, and that'd bring down the price of said hardware a fair amount.

There's about a 2x performance difference between those two cards, which would be about right for an actual next-gen console -- the HD 7670 just isn't enough of an upgrade.

It is important to note that the software costs of Windows drivers hurts ...

I play mine every day. SO many great RPGs on the PSP that still work on the Vita. I'm set until well after Gravity Rush.

The only people who should be disappointed with the Vita are people who aggressively played PSP RPGs, or just plain don't like RPGs. Any RPG fan, who has never owned a PSP, should pick one up *right now* (or a PSP), in my opinion.

The PSP games are easily the same quality as 3DS games, and better than phone games. Anyone complai...

W00t! That whittles my needed PS1 RPGs down to just Suikoden 2, Alundra 2, and Thousand Arms. LoD was definitely the heavy hitter (other than maybe Suikoden 2) left in the list, though.

The number of classic JRPGs available on the PS3 now is downright stellar.

OpenGL is an API -- it is NOT "x86 based".

At least bust out wikipedia, if you're going to pretend to know stuff.

"On The Road with Qore" was awesome. Otherwise, sure, it wasn't that great.

If they did nothing but tour around, visiting games studios and the touring the cities they were in, like they did with their "On The Road with Qore" videos, it would have been brilliant though.

Since when did I say "only" Sony deserves respect?

My statement was that, relative to their current 1st party competition, Sony is doing a lot more for the core gamer, and thus they have earned my respect.

You can't debate that. My other statement, that hating on them does no good for the core gamer, is also inarguable.

It's disgusting to see so many N4G non-gamers hating on Sony, over the losses they've suffered.

Any real gamer would give them some respect -- its sad to Sony, the last serious 1st party supporter of the hardcore gamer, in such bad shape. If you are happy about it, you don't belong on N4G, because you're not qualified.

People yammer on about how N4G is "full of Sony fanboys"... but guess what? Any serious gamer IS a Sony fan, becau...

This article whines about how developers are complaining about the GPU muscle when they should care about gameplay...

...and THEN, the guy goes on to state that the Wii U's focus is to allow 3rd parties to port games to it.

WTH? Why do you *think* developers are whining about it, if its not as capable as the other platforms the game already runs on? It's because they're spending the majority of their time porting games to a system which can only...

No. This isn't accurate.

The Wii U is the one that renders the image. The tablet merely displays the streamed data.

My point is that the Wii U needs to render BOTH the big screen, AND the tablet image (which is then streamed to the tablet), which is more work on the Wii U's GPU.
