Everyone's own personal FF ranking is fascinating, to me.
I have to concur with the majority, that FF7 was good, but definitely not in the top 3. I'm surprised to see some folks rank games like FF:CC high, and FF 6 low, as well, or that anyone could even stand to play through X-2 (which is my personal worst fav... although I have yet to play FF3).
The sheeple buying BO2 offend me. Treyarch CODs suck, sheeple... when will you learn?
Remember that consoles are sold for basically 0 profit, unlike PCs. A $500 console would have the components of a PC that ran around $750 at retail prices, more than likely.
Also, the lightweight OSes, and lack of all the background processes, on consoles makes memory much less of a concern. 4GB of console CPU+GPU memory equates to more like 8GB of combined memory in a PC. On a 8GB PC, you just can't count on having 4GB available for your game, without risk of having i...
Honestly, the Wii belongs in the last gen, and the Wii U in this gen. If you include the Wii in the "current gen", then why not include the PS2? It still sells millions each year, even in the US and Europe. It outsold the 360 (and PS3) through the end of 2007 -- two years after the 360 launch.
If the "current gen" started in 2005. then the PS2 was the champ of the current gen through the end of 2007, because it outsold the Wii as well, in that 2005-2007...
This is the stupidest rumor I have read in a LONG while.
Microsoft will NOT buy Activision. Why on earth would MS buy a company that:
(a) makes them a significant chunk of $$ already, via licensing fees
(b) would probably get them slapped with another anti-trust lawsuit.
(c) is a publisher, not a dev studio, and thus would not integrate into MS cleanly.
(d) is being sold because they are having financial troubles.
MS ...
The Wii U will not be *as* overpowered next gen as the Wii was, this gen.
It'll still be the weakest member of the console gang, and not by a trivial margin.
You are completely correct, Joe.
This Kotaku article is a farce, looking to justify their anti-Sony agenda, basically. No respectable journalist could even begin to believe the 3DS was close to the Vita, in terms of graphics.
Well, I suppose its also possible that the folks at Kotaku are just *that* dumb, as well.
Just to clarify, the guy is complaining that the CPU is too slow, and his team has to work around it. The fact he also mentions that the clock is low is just a side thing.
RTFA @ all the "clock isn't everything" NDF commentary who didn't even bother to read the article.
@tee_bag242:
"My old 4850 would push out better graphics performance than the consoles on multi-platform games. ie L4D2, RE5."
Do you have any idea how much more powerful a 4850 is, than a 7570? Just the texture performance is at least 3x. Just because a chip is modern, doesn't make it amazingly powerful. GPUs haven't gotten faster in the past 5 years, for the most part -- mostly they've just gotten *cheaper*, except at the very high ...
@ wishingW3L:
"A freaking HD 6570 has around 480 stream processors for god's sake!"
LoL. Do you believe that AMD GPUs are "more powa" because they have a truckload more "cores" than nVidia GPUs, even relative to modern designs.
You realize the GTX 570 has 480 cuda cores, right? Do you honestly believe that an nVidia core and a AMD "stream processor" are an even match? Do you have ANY idea what th...
It's important to note that many DX11 GPUs are not as powerful (meaning texture, poly, fill performance) as the 360 or PS3 GPUs. These are the low-priced models -- exactly the sort that a company looking to lower the cost of their console into a range where families would find it affordable, *might* want in its console. A Radeon 6570 or 7570 would be only slightly more powerful than the Xenos or RSX, and would be a very affordable option for the Wii U, for example.

So awesome. I can't wait, and I am SO glad I bought a 32GB card.
I will NEVER, EVER sign up for a streaming game service, and put up with 100-250ms extra control lag, at a minimum. If that's the future... I got better things to do with my time.
That inherent lag will *never* go down -- you can't "fix" the frickin' speed of light through 1000+ miles of fiber optic cabling, or, more importantly, the throughput of the routers that direct the streaming video/music/email spam/pr0n traffic of the internet elsewhere so you ...
Likely there will be a "culling". Not of CoD, but of external and "less important", "less secure" developments. Case in point: Radical Entertainment, developer of the Activision-published Prototype series.
No one can afford to buy Activision/Blizzard from Vivendi.. well I suppose MS might be able to, but they'd probably get slapped with an anti-trust lawsuit the moment they tried it.
Vivendi will have to offer the shares to the public, and A-B's value will drop drastically in the process, probably causing a lot of A-B project cancellations.
Note the recent Radical Entertainment closure -- the Activision folks knew this was coming.
I will laugh the day that Activision-Blizzard kills CoD and lays off whatever studios are working on that franchise.
I will also laugh the day after, when their stock hits rock bottom and they are removed from public exchange.
CoD's popularity on Wii U will have little to do with Wii U hardware, and a lot to do with Nintendo's version of XBL/PSN.
Given that, I doubt N can truly compete with the more mature Services
What a ridiculous question this article asks.
If one were to rephrase it "would GTA V as a PS3 exclusive be a big deal?" The answer would be the same, but the article would have been dismissed as drivel.
Thus game has spent more time running on my Vita than any other thusfar. It's a worthy purchase -- the demo is all the review you ever really need.
My next GPU sounds great!
