The first two FTB games -- the better ones -- were made by Zipper, not /6.
Kinect + a MS version of Move would be great. Kinect by itself... not so much. It'd be better as a control augmentation, than a standalone controller.
Alternatively, Move + Sony version of Kinect would also be great. I'll bet both options will be possible, next gen.
Nah, they gave it a decent ending, and laid it to rest as a classic trilogy. The remake, which went with the movie, was never really anything but an attempt to cash in on modern engine technology, and an IP which had run its course.
In the grand scheme of things, the PoP engine became the Assassin's Creed engine, and the next IP was born. It never really "died", so much as changed into something similar, but different. And, of course, AC is far from dead.
"Panda-ria", and it looks like Warcraft-ified ancient imperial China? This is an early April Fool's joke, I hope.
Is there a new Monk class, that uses blunt weapons, zen magic, or hand-to-hand (depending on your build, of course), too? And a new Panda-rian playable race... kinda black, white, and fluffy?
Yes, the feature is probably more useful on consoles, but keep in mind that triple buffering also increases effective input lag -- not something many gamers appreciate.
Wow @ modern gamer entitlement. Some people think they own the world for $60.
Braben puts his money where his mouth is, BTW.
His most recent notable efforts were some of the most popular downloadable games for the Wii -- Lost Winds, and its sequel. Download-only titles, obviously, cannot be sold used.
Since these were single-player, story-driven games, and thus exceptionally vulnerable to resale issues, that was probably a wise business decision.
Wow.
As I stated above, the guy co-created Elite. If you don't know what Elite is, I can't help you. No one can.
Right... that's why everyone holds onto their paperback copy of War & Peace, so they can re-read it someday.
There are only a few genres that are truly replayable. Strategy, for example (like Civilization), or open ended sims like Pirates or The Sims. Sports and racing would qualify, if it weren't for the annual re-releases (which is a problem created by the publisher, not the consumer, IMO).
Ironically, Braben created another one of these repla...
Adaptive Vsync disables VSync when the framerate of a game drops below a preset threshold, and re-enables it when it reaches the threshold again.
Example: Most games run at "30 fps". What that really means is that most games *try* to run at 30fps, but often drop int the 27-29 range, or sometimes lower, during frames with intense computation (an onscreen explosion, for example, with loads of particles with alpha and overdraw). The game ALSO runs *above* 30 fps, if ...
It'd pretty much have to be "innovative", since every Kinect title needs a lot of innovation to use the Kinect in a way that qualifies as fun.
Will it be co-op on a single console, I wonder?
Warren Spector is one of my personal heroes. I probably shouldn't say this "out loud" here on N4G, for fear of losing bubbles over my opinion, but I respect him more, as a game designer, than Miyamoto -- and I respect Miyamoto a LOT.
The next XBox doesn't need a $600 beast powering it, because it doesn't need to go beyond 1920x1080p, and having the "XBox 720" cost a fortune would just put MS' XBox division out of business.
MS will be fine with their overclocked, 28nm HD 6670... or whatever the current rumor is.
It looks like it uses less power, in the article. Check out the thermal output -- that's a pretty good indicator.
"The Armored Core franchise was the daddy of all mech games"
Erm, What?
Does that make MechWarrior and MechWarrior 2 the granddaddy and great-granddaddy? I have got to say that no console mecha game has ever come close to MW2 or MW3, for me, and I'm a HUGE mech fan.
AC V has me somewhat interested, however. I may finally have to bite. The last AC I tried (on the PS2) was... not so good.
I'm actually glad that nVidia will continue to rule the performance roost. I despise switching to ATI drivers.
I think I can understand your statement, but I don't agree that EDGE does a good job in fully exploring titles from the typical user's perspective. Far too often they review a game from a disinterested standpoint -- often their reviews seem written from the perspective of someone who would never have looked up a review for the game in question, in the first place. In other words, their perspective does not match that of the reader.
Thus, their reviews lack the prope...
7/10 from EDGE means "good game, but too cool for EDGE"
Thus, I am buying for sure.
SSX: 5/10. Unit 13: 5/10.
I think these guys don't sound very trustworthy.
No, that was Sony's Bend Studio -- who did both PSP Syphon Filter games, as well as the PSP Resistance game, and Uncharted:GA for the Vita.
