All people wanted was a leap from the PS3 and that's definitely there. The PS4 isn't going to out perform a PC with a 680 as that GPU alone is $400 along with the Intel CPU being thrown in there; which is also sporting a hefty price tag. No one wishes for Sony to break the bank releasing an $800 console.
That said, performance is just something you have to pay for. The PS4 is definitely good enough though.
Wha?! He's selling someth...?!
Son of a bitch, I had no idea. I thought he was just saying non-sense.
I'll make it more clear next time when I'm pointing out the blatantly obvious for us both. I got your back man.
Gotta love marketing.
What gaming PC in this day and age uses a 32-bit Windows OS? Other than that, I agree with him. The console is convenient for its consumers and the simpler architecture is easier to develop for. Also the PS4 will surpass "Most PCs" because the majority of those Windows laptops come from walmart.
Their main markets consist of mobile/laptop/Mac&PC. They are a world leader in computing tech and they are profitable so I'm not seeing how this will damage their earnings at all. Even if Nvidia is talking out of its ass.
The PS4 is using off the shelf hardware and most developers are taught programming through x86 architecture. There isn't much to learn and expand upon like it was with the Cell or the PS2s E.E.
That said, these games will look and perform great right out the gate as long as they aren't lazy and keep the code clean (GG has a good track record). It's familiar and they have an easier time accessing power. Dice coding for a PC game is majorly the same as Guerilla c...
As long as MGSV is made I don't care what hardware it's on.
You do know hardware is "instructed" by the software right? It doesn't just run without being told what to do.
And fyi, Nvidia has a much better track record than AMD.
This guy takes his games too seriously.
This is great. Sony is really dead set on being the most developer friendly this time around. Again, good job Sony.
Gameplay is most important but graphics are more for immersion. Coming out of a dim and hollow cave only to be greeted by beautiful sunshine with good lighting and shader quality. Foliage being plentiful and top notch with that river down below moving and flowing seamlessly.
That what graphical finesse brings for me anyways. It makes a great experience even greater.
It's still 720p because, like every person who understands computers and their components have said, RAM doesn't mean anything if the GPU isn't fast enough. I personally wasn't expecting them to do this but I suppose they figure 60fps is a more important benefit. I can say I agree with them but this alone shows that there are some limitations already.
RAM size and bandwidth won't do anything if the GPU can't process the visual information it's given at an adequate speed. Pushing more pixels and more frames means more processing power required.
Both sides of this tech debate need to pipe down. Here's a breakdown:
Optimization is awesome and everything but check this out, hardware has limitations. Why is damn near every release sub hd for current gen consoles? Limitations.
Why is KZ: Shadow Fall 30fps? Because there is a limitation to how fast this card can process information. The MOBILE version of the 7970 for laptops is currently speced higher than the PS4s GPU (and in comparison to deskt...
More familiar architecture means less stress and more money saved. How couldn't a dev be happier.
The Xbox 360 and the Wii both used ATI/AMD Graphics Cards yet they still netted astonishing losses (1.18b in 2012) and they're having a hard time staying afloat now. Nvidia is breaking through in the smartphone/tablet market (which is pretty big) and they constantly post profits.
This is still good for AMD because they need business and quite honestly, a world with one GPU vendor would be horrible. Whatever keeps AMD alive is good.
The PS4 being x86 alone will aid everyone. Developers are happier, multiplat games are better and overall, due to being easier to work with, companies should save more money. Sony thought about everyone this time around so I say good job Sony.
RAM is storage, performance is determined by processing power (CPU/GPU). Aka this won't do anything since Sony already has an over abundance of RAM.
Oh yeah consoles are definitely dying when they continue to sell over 200 million combined in a generation. This person is a genius.
I'll put it in a better perspective.
AMD is pretty much only vendor who produces both CPU and GPU. This lets Sony make an easy deal instead of going through two contracts/companies with Intel and Nvidia. Manufacturing costs, R&D, Shipping, Materials, lisensing/legal fees, etc. would be higher with split vendors making your main components.
It's only cheaper because it's like a bundle instead of dipping for individual parts so it's not ...
