The GPU in the PS4 is not high end, the CPU is also not high end. They're mid-range which is perfectly fine unless you really want Sony to go bankrupt.
Sure it'd out power most PCs if the guy only wanted to pay $400 bucks for his rig. You start going any higher, it'll definitely outpower it.
The GTX 660 smacks the gpu in the PS4 and its only $200 bucks. 25$ RAM, $50 case, $100 mother board, amd 8-core for $150 (much more powerful than the PS4s), PSU 500W for $30. $20 for good cooling compound. Most CPUs come with stock fans but you can upgrade. Optical Drives are stupid cheap. $90 bucks for windows.

What? The PS4 has an all around better set up. No, it wouldn't be stronger than the current PS4 setting.
Rip the CD onto a PC/Mac and transfer it to the PS4. Problem solved.
More proof that forbes doesn't know what the hell they're talking about.
It'll probably be $500, don't forget shipping and retailer mark up. They don't sell their products at cost. Sony also will probably include the cost of R&D and marketing into the PS4. They don't wanna lose too much.
I think $500 is perfect for all that you're getting. PSN is free too.
1080p/60fps is what I like to hear.
If the PS4 is a better quality product, I really don't care if it costs more or less. I'd just get the PS4.
The Myth of Console Optimization: https://www.youtube.com/wat...
This guy bought a PS3 GPU (7800GT Nvidia) for 25 bucks and it lasted him this generation.
See the vid, he's running Skyrim and Dead Space 2 on it and it runs exactly like the PS3, granted he's using fraps to record.
How exactly was Sony smashed? PS3 releases a year later than the 360 yet has a comparable total sales to date. So much for being smashed eh?
*sigh*
First and foremost, you'll never use over 4 GB of VRAM running a video game. The PS4 probably won't even use 3GBs ever since the GPU is a mid ranged one. You can't stack on AA, AF, high res (over 1080p) like a fully decked out card or an SLI set up because the GPU will choke trying to run everything. Bandwidth and capacity don't mean anything if the GPU can't process the information given fast enough.
Secondly, GDDR5 doesn'...
Never really used? I facepalmed so hard at this I almost shattered my skull. Try adjusting your config to DX11 in Crysis 3 and max out the settings. You won't get optimal performance with just any ol' card.
The first one is actually pretty funny, the second one is just really fuckin stupid.
That said, this hype train is moving too fast for anyone to stop.
Piracy is everywhere. Whether it be console, handheld, or pc.
PC does move software quite well. Diablo III, as bad as it was received by users, pushed pass 10m copies sold not too long ago. Skyrim PC is well over 5 mil sold. To say it doesn't move copies isn't accurate at all.
Looks aren't everything either. If you want top notch performance on higher settings, get a more expensive solution which has more power and it will allow you to custo...
Looks great to be honest and no one can deny that. I'm just glad things will finally be 1080p.
There should be no hate from the PC crowd. Your multi-plat releases will now run much better due to the PS4 being x86 now. Devs will also have a much easier job making and porting the game. Hell we might see 100% 720/PS4/PC multiplat releases instead of just 720/PS4.
If the PC player can't see that as a benefit for both sides, then ignorance is bliss.
Last gen couldn't even do 1080p all that often. This is a launch game with native 1080p. There's certainly nothing "last gen" about it.
While it most certainly does looks great, games rarely use over 2gb in normal circumstances.
Depending on how much this thing costs, I may save up and shoot for Day 1 just to have it.
The controller is probably my favorite part of the conference. It looks awesome.
This time around, the console version (well the PS4) shouldn't be far off to be honest. Performance will differ depending on how powerful the GPU is for PC but they'll probably look identical.
